Good Morning ladies. Hope this finds you ready for another day. Course it probably will also find some of you still snoozing under the cover over on the west coast
i’m Up, let’s just say that’s as far as I am right now
Cloudy and light snow here right now after 2 beautiful sunny days. The sun is feeling warm and was melting snowbanks along side the roads leaving streams and puddles on the roadways which of course become black ice when temps fall. But the fact there’s melting is the nice part. Bit of a deep freeze moving in for a few days tomorrow. For you gals out west who have mentioned how much snow you have in the Sierra’s I’m afraid that MI has you beat in that category. Calumet in the Upper Peninsula has received 304 inches so far and still going. Thry had 331 last year. It’s in the Keweenaw Peninsula, that finger that at sticks out into Lake Superior. Big snow country.
Velds, nice to see you making progress on things and getting the van ready to roll this spring. You will do just fine getting out and going. Lyn, pack bug spray when you head this way. May can be buggy in the U.P. and sometimes here too depending on spring weather. Martha, hope you get a break from rain one of these days. That would drive me crazy. At least with snow I can be out if I want and go for walks or whatever. Tina, safe travels home. Anybody heard fromCarolb of late? Peggy, glad you are enjoying the winter in Kino Bay.
Guess I should get busy here. Good day to continue the spring cleaning here. Want to get that wrapped up. My mind is turning to scrapbooking. Have a nice day everybody.

Good morning, I slept in till 6 ! I couldn't believe it. I'm full of coffee now and about ready to get outside and start on the patio clearing project. After that I can plan the deck project. Did a lot of online shopping for lockable deck boxes so that future deliveries wouldn't get stolen, I've decided I didn't need one and could design the deck with a lockable panel next to the stairs for deliveries. Hinges and a hasp would be much cheaper.
I spoke to the manager about the theft, she said over the 8 years she's been here everyone has been safe from that sort of nonsense but a few months ago little petty stuff started disappearing. They think they know who but have no proof so she was thrilled I was putting up cameras.
One more week of work and then its spring break. I'm crossing my fingers I can take at least a couple days overnight to la Posa just for a little serenity. Sheila, Kerry, will you still be there? Did those people vacate my spot yet?
Not much else is on my mind right now but I'm loving the nice weather for now.

I am still drinking coffee. I have to get my quart in before I can function. lol It's still gray and hazy and 70. I think the cold front is suppose to move in tomorrow with more rain.
Ava, what kind of cameras are you putting up. I would like to have cameras so I could see what's going on if I hear something at night. It's usually the cats that are up to something. I don't want to go through a company and have to pay a monthly fee. We have been lucky over the years on our little road. The only time we had something taken out of a truck we were sure it was one of the kids in the neighborhood. When they moved no more trouble. I haven't had any delivery stolen yet but then, I'm here most of the time. If I know I will be gone I just don't order anything.
I hope I don't have to go back to Lafayette before Mardi Gras is over. There was a specialty meat market I wanted to go to but I couldn't get in the parking lot. They have a drive thru window and cars were lined up all the way around the building and the lot was full.
This morning there were two of those big long legged things that look like giant mosquitoes dead in a bowl of water in the sink. I don't know how they got in. I haven't seen any mosquitoes yet but saw a wood bee yesterday. It's a constant battle all summer because they are trying to eat my porches.

Cool and raining here this morning. Was planning to go on a short hike with a Meetup group this morning but guess that is not gonna happen. Good day to stay in and finish up my spring cleaning in here.
Still trying to get in touch with someone about the ferret food and supplies. I would think they would be really happy to have someone take that off their hands.
Emily is doing her zoomies all over the house this morning! Sounds like a herd of elephants in here racing across the floor! My roommate is out of town for the weekend.
I just found out that there is finally a 40th high school class reunion planned for late this summer. I won't be going, but it is another expensive venue ($80, no dinner or entertainment), and they are adding a round of golf the day before for those interested. They chose a very expensive golf course/country club at the cost of $85 per person! There are a ton of golf courses out there and many are very nice and much less expensive but they chose the most expensive one. The women who plan these reunions are from very wealthy families and married wealthy people so they don't realize that 3/4 of the classmates are not rolling in money like they are, and they wonder why the turnout is never very high (last one only 200, including spouses, went to it out of a class of 650). Even if I was still living there, I wouldn't pay that much to go again. Most of the "kids" I hung around with don't go either because of the cost.
Enough of my rant
. Need to get dressed and start doing something around here.

Good afternoon everyone!
Sue, I talk to Carolb regularly and she is good. She is spending this winter in NY enduring the cold and snow. I miss not being able to talk to her in person, so the phone is the next best thing.
Brenda (Brendac), Steve and I went for a road trip today and visited a small village on the gulf coast of FL named Yankeetown. Mostly a quaint fishing village with a park with an itty, bitty sandy beach. It would be a neat place to visit to sit on the beach and enjoy a picnic lunch. The weather in Ocala is beautiful but we have a cold front coming this coming week, putting temperatures in the 60's for a couple days.

Martha, these cameras were a gift a couple years ago and I never opened the box. They came from radio shack, are color and motion activated with audio capability. Can listen or talk, they hook up to tv, or monitor and also laptop. With the laptop I can save the file. There are two cameras in this setup.

Barbie, I went to a very small high school in a lower middle class to flat out poor area. Our 50th reunion had a country-western theme and everyone wore jeans and very casual dress. We held it at a banquet house in a smallish room. Had about 35 attend out of class of 87, but we always invite all the drop-outs and anyone who ever went to school with us, so a lot were people we knew but who did not graduate!!! We invited about 120 people and we could have afforded something a little more fancy, but we wanted it to be "come as you are." The reunion next to us was a big fancy one from one of the bigger schools in Detroit, so they were all dressed formally and had a real band. (We had a boombox!) You'd have liked our reunion!
Sunny today and snow is melting, but still about 6" to walk through to get to the other side of my rig, so I lined up the patio table and chairs to hang onto because it is slippery to dump my tanks. They had a bucket truck here yesterday to get the big branches that are hung up in trees. Still a lot of piles of branches on the ground that need to be cleaned up before anyone can move back in. At least the roadway is clear and dry, and most campsites are also clear, although some are full of branches. They need a big chipper to come in. There are still closed roads and people without power in Eugene.
Going out tomorrow to get a haircut, do some grocery shopping, and fill my propane tanks. I am also going to get someone to check my tire pressure after they have sat most of the winter. I will be checking the weather on Tuesday morning, but I don't mind rain as much as I mind snow, so I am going to get as far south as I can and then drive the rest on Wednesday. If I have to stop, I will, but I am not coming back here for a month. I will certainly be driving mid-day to avoid any freezing and ice.

Our last reunion was at an expensive event center on Lake Minnetonka (the huge lake I grew up on). We were in a large tent on the lawn by the lake, with some hors d'oeuvres, and a boom box with CD's playing 70's music. $85 per person! Drinks were very expensive, even pop was $3. The point of a reunion should be to get as many classmates together as possible. They can't attract very many with those venues and prices and no food or real music to offer. This year it is at a very expensive country club on the lake, no meal included. Maybe they don't want us unpopular and less financially well-off classmates there anyways. I would be fine at a barn, etc. with a local band, and burgers and hot dogs to eat!
So far, I have gotten nothing accomplished other than getting dressed! Rainy days just suck all the energy and motivation out of me!
Haven't even seen the cats since this morning.

OMG! I bought a fire extinguisher last week and put it on the wall above my wash machine. I just went to open my washer and the lid came up and hit the bottom of the extinguisher and it fell off and landed in the washer!
It went off briefly so I shut the door quick! Is that stuff harmful to breath?
I was having a stupid day yesterday and now another stupid day!

Barbie, for me to use my fire extinguisher I have to pull a pin first. I dont know what kind you have but the ones in my Motorhome are the same way.
I am having a lazy day. Watching movies.....sheesh. Tomorrow I better get busy.
Judy so far the weather looks fine for Tuesday. Late Wed and Thurs rain, never sure what the temps are in the passes to cause any snow but Tuesday looks good.

It does have a pin but it must have got knocked out when it fell. How toxic is that stuff? I haven't taken it out of the washer yet because I don't know how much retardant is in there and how bad it is to breathe in. I guess I need to find a better place to hang it from now on...
OK...so I put on my hazmat suit (plastic goggles, face mask and rubber gloves) and removed the extinguisher from the washer and put it outside. I removed what was in the washer and threw that outside, then wiped out the inside of the washer and am now running it thru a wash cycle to remove anything left over. It is the powder kind of stuff in the extinguisher which I read can cause irritation in the nose, throat, etc but nothing life threatening. I have the windows open and a fan going toward the windows, just to be sure.
I think i will go to bed early tonight to get this day over with sooner!

Barbie, you just have too much fun. When we lived in the old house I had a Jenn Air stove with a grill. Harold set some meat on fire and used the fire extinguisher to put it out. What a mess. I never thought about it being toxic. He could have put a cookie sheet over the top and put it out.

I've never worked on a reunion committee but I have a friend that has consistently worked on her high school reunion/s. I gather that it takes some hard work and personal time especially the part of trying to track down long lost members. And then there is that part about attending meetings when you might rather be sitting at home with your feet up. Even in the times of increased social media, not everyone is an easy find. My class was only about 215 individuals and I was the yearbook editor senior year but have never felt a strong need to go back to see individuals that I didn't really socialize with even back then. Even our dinner on Saturday night cost $60. Even nice barn venues for potentially large groups of people cost money. But each of our reunions also have an informal get togethers at local VFW hall with finger munchies, beer and pop the night before. Not everybody shows up at the same venues. Some show up at both. I figure that if I am not willing to serve on a committee or fill out forms letting them know my preferences, the committee gets to make the choices. It is hard work.
