Wednesday and wet

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday and wet

Postby Redetotry » Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:40 pm

Rain, drizzle and gloomy here but thankfully not too cold. Getting ready to go teach my yoga class. We've had to cancel the last two sessions due to weather. I just noticed we have daffodils about to bloom in the yard!! That will be a real record also rose bushes with leaves. Guess the cold weather didn't bother them but still never seen daffodils here bloom before end of February.
I hope everyone is having a good day and better weather.

Wet and gloomy here too. But I’m having a happy fun time with the Jeep we just bought, not sure what I was thinking buying a non 4x4 last year, I live where it’s snowy and icy, and I like being mobile!

Howdy all. I do have service here. I forgot I had phone, not data here. Now I have AT&T phone, roaming for data.

Mickie, just a reminder, 4 wheel drive is a big help with snow, but doesn't help with ice. I had someone with brand new to them 4 wheel drive suv cause a major accident... I'd probably be dead if not for my seat belt. They were very lucky... And read the riot act from the police. They spun out on ice thinking their 4 wheel drive would protect them. You probably know, but just in case.

Funny here but going to be quite cold overnight tonight and tomorrow. Ty and I are spending much of the day time walking/hiking. He can't go everyone, but I wear him out.

I hear you Beth, I’ve had a 4x4 pretty much my entire adult life, I’m always passing along the info about ice to newbies, they seem to think they’re driving a mountain goat!

  I love the mountain goat analogy!

Back from another hike/walk with Ty. Tomorrow I'm going to leave him home at some point to do one I've never gone on that dogs aren't allowed.

This crazy weather, it was 79 today and very humid. Suppose to be 79 again tomorrow. I forgot to walk slow on the carport and fell. Just have a big bruise or blood blister on my thumb.

Yesterday coming back from Lafayette I passed a bad accident. The police or ambulance hadn't gotten there yet but thank goodness there were a bunch of men trying to get someone out of the car. I thought I was going to be sick. The news said there were only minor injuries but I find that hard to believe. It was at a side road that goes to one of the high school and they are always having accidents there. The state made it a J turn but I don't know that helped.

I am suppose to leave in the morning but the fog is already rolling in. I don't know how early I will be able to leave. I hate to drive in fog.

Martha, I'm so sorry you fell and am glad your injuries aren't any worse. I'm not fond of those J turns. We have lots of new ones in MD.
My sister and hubby are coming to visit tomorrow. They live in Daytona Beach and he is recovering from Lymphoma and they have both had a real tough road the last year. I've seen her since then, as we house sat for their dog when he was in the hospital for one of his numerous stays in the hospital and once he was given the clear to be able to get out of the house and join society, we met them in Daytona for a lunch. So this will be a super great get together.

what is a J turn?
possibly know under something else but not familiar with the term
actually .... drum roll.... got stuff that I drug out forever ago and kept using the item that was stored on
the bottom put away so I will want it out tomorrow?? hopefully not... now I need to tackle the corner the tree was in as in most cases is empty something get's put there.... no one to blame but myself though... I had bagged up some books was going to take to the library even got it out to the truck and back in cause we needed the space oh well will sort through it again (2 libraries) and get the taken care of hopefully on Friday. Tomorrow afternoon get the books re-bagged and out to the truck... will be glad when the generator is fixed and I can vacuum among other things like watch tv . I bought a thing (you see them all the time in restaurants) last year but it didn't seem to do the job might give it a try though...
it was game day enjoy that time of mindless nothing but visiting and trying to be better than the others...
and it is majorly cold today... covered my outdoor plants suppose to be close to or at freezing tonight... I know I haven't changed the calendar but isn't it Feb???

When I got my first 4WD vehicle, I drove just as cautious as I did before, but just wasn't white-knuckling it so much, just watching out more for the other crazy drivers. Lots of people think that just because they have a big truck or 4WD vehicle, they are invincible. Those are the ones, after passing me, that I see upside-down in a ditch a mile down the road. Nothing handles well on ice.

Was sunny but windy and cool today. Schools were closed up in the mountains east of here due to the snow they got overnight. We are under a frost/freeze watch tonight with temps going down to the upper 20's in this area.

Bed time...

Sheila, a J turn is the turn on the highway, in the shape of a J, to make a flip-flop/uee, to go the other direction. These are in exchange for being able to cross a highway to get to a road on the other side. There have been lots of fatalities from people crossing highways to get to the road that the DOT decided that rear end collisions are usually not as serious as being broad sided. It probably makes sense, but I don't understand why people are in such a hurry to cross the highway and just wait until there is enough room and time to do that safely.
