Winter Storm Monday

Morning everyone. I can tell it’s Monday. We are dealing with Winter Storm Jayden. Seems like every Monday this month we have had a storm or something for the most part. This one is a major winter storm for us. Heavy snow, blowing and drifting, wind gusts around 40 mph. Dangerous wind chills etc. etc. Travel will be very hazardous, if not impossible. They haven’t called it a blizzard, but sure has the makings of one. Schools started announcing closures last night and libraries, medical walk in clinics, colleges, courthouses, county bus transits etc., are closed in some counties. When that happens you know it’s bad out there. Interesting thing is, next Sunday they are watching another storm and highs will be in mid 30’s to mid 40’s. Talk about going from one extreme to the other. Hmmmm, county plow truck just went by. Surprised to see him, but there’s a couple inches from weekend on the road.

Enough weather report. Sounds like things are getting quiet at Q. But Hardee Lakes will be starting in FL this week. My friends and I are thinking camping season and making reservations as I have mentioned before. Some of you have travel plans in motion, others are thinking of some. Tina, enjoy your CA stay. Barb, hope you get to the beach and see some seal pups.

Judy, I do plan to post pictures when I finish up the loose ends. They will get done today. Then I will turn my attention to upstairs. Picked up some paint cards yesterday and have them taped to my bedroom walls to see if I like them or not.

Guess I’ll get my day in motion. Dogs are sleeping, they aren’t happy with this weather. Means no walks. So I will be dealing with two wound up balls of fur by tomorrow  Hope you all have a nice day.

I'm in Wickenburg... Splurged and dry camped in a city park as the area further on that is free I know is small and I didn't want to not have a space. This is a fairly nice city park. Today I want to do some sightseeing.

Good morning Sue, Beth & everyone!

Sue, the weather you're having certainly sounds like you're having a blizzard. When you take the dogs out, don't stay out long.

Beth, enjoy the day sightseeing.

Sarah will get on the road this morning and should be here late this afternoon and will stay for two nights. She and Brenda will join us for dinner and we'll have a small gtg here. Unfortunately the weather here is chilly and the nights are cold but the weather next week will be considerably warmer.

Have a good day and stay warm!

We have another warm, sunny day. The weather people are talking about Louisiana having a few snow flurries tomorrow but I wouldn't hold my breath. They were saying the low Tuesday night would be 28 and now they are up to 30. Down here it probably won't be 30, I hope.

The tomato sauce with sausage I made yesterday turned out pretty good. I have a couple of frozen meatballs and I think I'll cook them in the remaining sauce. My bread is a little on the dense side. I put an extra tablespoon of milk but think it could have used several more. The bread machine has 3 setting for the crust and I picked the darkest. It tastes good but the crust is too dark. I use to be able to take my bread experiments to work but now I don't have anyone to give bread to.

I need to go to town again but not moving too fast.

Martha

Chilly morning here this morning but hopefully the fog will lift and we will see sunshine like yesterday.

Finished cleaning the bathroom, washed walls, windows, mirrors. All the counters, shower and the garden tub. So now just need to steam mop the floor. Glad that job is done. Only a couple more rooms to go and they are the lightest jobs as mostly just windows, cob webs, vacuuming and dusting.

I have made 2 loaves of bread so far. First one was a 1lb loaf and came out with a dome like appearance. Found in the instructions if it does this cut back on the yeast. ALways add the yeast last on top of the dry ingredients....I did that. So second loaf I did a 1.5lb recipe, cut back on the yeast and my loaf came out perfect. I do the medium crust and it is perfect. So I sliced it (with my electric knife) after it cooled and kept out a couple of slices and the rest went in the freezer.

Irmi how is that shoulder doing, still good? Glad to hear Sarah will be visiting for a couple of days it will be very cold up where she lives so even the chilly should feel okay for now. Hoping they have better weather in HL.

Took out some frozen shrimp and a couple of scallops to thaw for dinner. Have some brussels sprouts to go with it should be good.

Temperature is 57 here with sun but kind of grey sky. Rain later in week. Not much exciting here. Received the two new detectors for van and friend and I can't put them in until I get two new house batteries. So, other than cleaning off sticky old bumpers on cabinets there is not a lot I can do in there. Slowly working on the house . Another 2 big bags and box of clothes went to charity last week.
Sure wish I could join a group of you out on desert camping, guess the photos and chat about it can be used as motivation here. Wishing you all a well and happy week. Stay safe if you are in the dangerous freeze zone. My son said they are expecting 50 below! That's just awful cold and dangerous but he says my grandchildren still have to be at school!

Yesterday I got home from work and fell asleep in my recliner for an hour or so. Then I went into my bedroom and slept another couple hours. I planned to get up at 8 am this morning to head to the beach but was so tired, I ended up sleeping until 11 am. I just started taking a new B-vitamin with Folate and I think that is what is making me so sleepy. I will cut down to half a tablet and see if that is better. I read that sleepiness can be a side effect.

I will go to the beach tomorrow. I like to go early so I can find a place to park easier, especially in La Jolla. The beach areas get so crowded by noon. Today I will putz around here with some small projects instead.

Sarah, I am glad you finally got on the road and heading to FL. Hope the weather improves for the HL GTG.

My mom had a bread machine and it smelled so good when she made a loaf, and it tasted delicious! Nothing better than homemade bread!

Karen, my shoulder is much better than it was, thanks to the cortisone shot, from 4 weeks ago, kicking in. I took a couple ibuprofens this morning for a twinge, but that was absolutely nothing compared to what it was a week ago. Hope this holds out till my next appointment in March. In case I didn't mention it, I have a torn rotator cuff and bone spurs. This problem was probably caused from my falls last year, which is the reason I am now on beta blockers, and haven't had any problems since.

Sarah ran into lots of road construction and said she is 2 to 4 hours behind schedule. She's hoping to be here between 6:30 and 7:30 this evening. I told her we'd fix her a plate so she still had dinner.

Irmi so glad to hear it has definitely helped. Are they thinking about surgery in time??? My neighbor just had that surgery, she is doing PT now so she is still complaining LOL
Also glad the Beta Blockers have fixed you up.....you will be right as rain soon.

Say Hi to Sarah and hope she makes it without any issues. So nice of you to save her a plate, I am sure it will be greatly appreciated after the long day.

Barbie, sounds like those would make a good sleeping pill, but you need to take them only in the evening.

And after hearing about the extremely cold weather in the Midwest, I will try to stop complaining about the cold here in Oregon.

Lyn left today headed for Yuma then back home...I wish I'd gotten a picture when everyone was here and now a picture of the area that is...
it sure looks bare... because I live here and still do what is on my plate life isn't much different except for the times spent with everyone the visiting and sharing meals...
today I got the rest of my Christmas decoration's down so progress also the RV mechanic came out
and my generator does have problems but because of issues in CO he has to run back to CO and can't do
much till next week. Except research although he thinks he knows what is the problem..part of the problem with this generator is it's a off brand not a Honda but close to it.. so hopefully he will be able to get the parts
the other problems we will address later one has to prioritize after all...
I so enjoyed everyone and so enjoyed the treats Martha sent so yummy those cookies is the recipe in the recipe forum?

Sheila, which cookies are you asking about, the butter cookies or the ones with oatmeal?

Everyone up North would get a big laugh about the weather reports of maybe snow flurries in Louisiana. I think they are canceling school is a few parishes. The temperatures are above freezing so what ever falls will melt.

Karen, it sounds like I will have to have surgery at some point, but since we've planned a cross country trip this summer, we're trying to put a Band Aid on the aches and pains to get me through until we get back. The doctor said I wouldn't be a happy camper if I had surgery and tried to leave on this big trip. He has given me a prescription for the Prednisone pack in case I need it in an emergency and said he could also give me a prescription for the 6% Lidocaine patches to help with the pain if I need them. This is where we are right now. We'll see how things go. Unfortunately, the past 24 hours have been uncomfortable, but not excruciating, as the pain level was 6 or so weeks ago. I wish someone had a crystal ball so I knew what was going on.
