Another Advisory Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Advisory Day

Postby Colliemom » Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:40 am

Good Morning from the snowy 45th. Yep, another Winter Weather Advisory Day. This time for an additional 1-3 inches of lake effect snow and windy. Got a couple inches last night, Actually this isn’t a big deal for here and it will help the businesses who have been suffering through this mild winter. The last storm on Monday dumped us with about 3 inches of heavy wet snow, freezing rain and then rain and created a huge mess. Roads were iced over and people were being advised to stay off unless they really had to travel. I burrowed down in my basement on my project  Will be doing same today although will be making a few trips out to garage to cut some shelves down to size.

Judy, maybe you ought to put damp rid in storage bays and inside your MH to help with the moisture. Hang in there, you will be able to get away before long. Even if just for a few days.

O’Sharon, you could load Lola in the spring and venture this way, just sayin. Going to have to start a thread with everybody’s summer plans or what they hope to do this summer. Beth, you will be spending another summer with the “heads”. I always enjoy your posts from out there.

Well, the brain is out of thoughts this morning, more into the let’s get busy on the project mode  , so guess it’s off to the shower and to work. Have a nice day everyone.

Sue, although "the weather outside is frightful", I'll bet the views out your windows are spectacular! I have always wondered about you on this - is it difficult to heat your basement in snow country? You must have a pretty warm basement, in order to be able to spend so much time down there.

And - RIGHT!! - Damp Rid is awesome, and works wonderfully well. I usually keep several open containers of it in my van when I am not using my van. No mildew, no mildew smells, none of that with Damp Rid. I get the small containers, and when they are depleted I just get a refill bag of it and refill the containers.

It is really surprising how much moisture these things remove from the (relatively) small confines of my van.

When I drive my van, I usually put the containers in a zip-lock bag and bring them into my house - but often I will just leave them in my van (also in a zip-lock) in a place where they are not likely to fall over (and where Big Joe can't get to them).

I, too, heartily recommend Damp Rid. I get mine at Home Depot here, it is also available on Amazon (what isn't? )

I also have used Damp Rid successfully. One year I bought a cheap version at a dollar store and it worked just as well, at least seemed to for me.

I have a ton of things to do, and am laying down doing none of them! I'll take Ty for a walk.. Good for both of us.

Sue, in many ways the Black Hills feel like home to me. I've loved it there since my first visit so it makes it much easier to keep going back. They are getting more crowded though.

Yesterday at the feed store I saw a 2 pack of the small Damp Rid and bag of the refill. It seemed like a strange place to be selling it. I didn't notice the price but I bet it's a lot more than at other stores.

One of the smoke alarms started that infernal chirping at 5:00 this morning. It wasn't a bad battery so guess it needs to be replaced. Something else to add to my list. Everything seems determined to not let me sleep.

A cool front came through last night and it's 60 instead of 70 today. It's suppose to be in the 30's tonight. No plans for today. I need to clean out a place for the tax box that I will be messing with for the next 3 months. Still don't know what the estate bill will be.

Just went to bring my Jeep over to get an oil change (had an appointment) but two of their techs didn't show up so they couldn't get me in today. Will have to find another time there or take it in somewhere else before next week.

Finally getting to my laundry. Ran out of clean work clothes!

Nice sunny day today, high of 66. :D

My handyman just showed up. He is coming back tomorrow to remove a very gnarly overgrown bush/tree thing above the creek bank. It was hidden when the pine tree was there but now it is just ugly and blocks the view of the creek. Will be nice to get that gone! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Afternoon All, Just stopping in to say hi. I am surviving packing and moving boxes with the help of ice, ibuprofen and daughters. Officially move the end of the month. Daughters are nudging me on. I guess my senior pace wasn’t fast enough for them. :) Looked out the apartment window at farmland and to the left I can see water. Not sure if it is a body of water or a flooded field from all the rain. So far so good. The high rise toilet I requested was installed today so what’s not to like. Safe travels

felt like a lazy day ... and if I'd had my way it would have been even lazier... I personally would have loved to just dug into a book but decided that tree had to come down...it's still up  but the stuff on it is down and put away...that counts right?
oh fiddle just saw something else that went under the bed that didn't  guess next time I decide to put up the bed she will go away... it's a mop doll angel...resides under bed except for Christmas. I have some old world santa's from Bradford... and if you don't get them into the proper spot it doesn't close..and I made the mistake of using a marking pen verses a pen can't read it...should have redone it hopefully will do it next year before I take them out..
still have a bunch of stuff to put away but this is actually the hardest part so next time I don't have something to do I will put the rest away..
I actually didn't leave the property today that is a major feat
