Thawing out Friday

Good Morning. Winter storm Eboni is hitting us wth mild air and rain here. What snow we did have is all but gone. I have small lakes in a couple place in my yard. Temps will be dropping as the day goes on, so there will be a couple of ice rinks out there  But the bright side is, some snow will be moving in, so that will hopefully help cover icy areas. The area back roads are gonna be dicey. Glad I don’t have to deal with that. This is the the downside of a mild winter. Martha, we had wind here yesterday too and it made the temps feel darn right raw. Looks like a major storm for next week though.

Looks like most of you had a nice Christmas. I didn’t decorate either, so no having to take down and put away everything. Desn’t feel like the holiday season anymore. I don’t bother with New Years. Haven’t for years. Lot of people up here are pretty much same.

Friends and are are trying to get summer reservations in at our favorite state Park for July 4th week and most of the lake sites we want are either booked for the last weekend of June or the whole week of the 4th already as the 6 month window opens  And the new year isn’t even here yet. Looks like it’s going to be another summer of get em while you can or forget it scenario. Or be at the campground office at 8 a.m. in the mornings and see if a first come, first serve one might be coming open. One of the sites I want will be open tomorrow and you can bet I will be online at 8 a.m. when that window opens.

But right now it’s time to get a move on and get this day going. Have a nice one all.

I could hear it raining most of the night because I didn't go to sleep until about 4. Thanks to the unwanted callers, they don't let me sleep until noon. There is 3 1/4 inches of rain in the gauge. I was surprised that most of the water has drained off. There are reports on Facebook that a couple of state campgrounds East of Baton Rouge are closed because of flooding. One had just recently reopened after the flooding several years ago. The state campground near me has added full hookups to a few of the campsites. Some are probably for the campground hosts. I bet those will be hard to get on a weekend. I am ready to go somewhere but nothing scheduled until the middle to late January. I guess I could go up to the lake and bring my sister her Christmas present but she is coming here on the 3rd.

My brother's wife sent me pictures of him snow blowing in their yard in Thunderbay. Glad we don't have that.

I'm trying to decide how bad I want to go to town. Today is fried catfish day at the deli. I am getting tired of eating turkey. lol

Good morning. Well I was awake around 5am....that is just wrong. Oh well. Took a shower, ate breakfast waited for the freezing fog to disappear. Fog still here but roads are now okay. Headed to Walmart for a few things and was back home by 10am. Needed rug shampoo and more window cleaner. I like a special kind of window cleaner and Walmart doesnt carry it so had to stop at Home Depot but it is on the way home so not so bad. Having another cup of coffee then will tackle the remaining 2 windows to clean.

Karen - cute pic of Emma and nice pic of you and Emma. Did Emma like her Christmas presents?

It's clear, windy and cold here in No. Central CA.

It's going to be a COLD week in southern NM. Highs today and most of the next week in the 30's. Brrrr. Started today and I enjoyed our last walk so just need to prepare, I guess.

Moved today, back to Leasburg SP. I, unusual for me, made a reservation for this stay. For a site with electric. Dumped, filled my fresh water. So the rig is prepared and I'll probably be using the furnace more than normal. The coldest day looks to be New Year's Day... But I do intend to do the First Hike.

Picked up a rental car for a week and went out to run some errands and get another blood test. The backs of my hands and my arms are beginning to look like pin cushions, but nothing scheduled until next Wednesday, thankfully. The rest of today is laundry--three loads, but only two machines. Luckily, it is not too far of a walk, but the only part of my old condo I miss is having my own washer and dryer!

And tomorrow I have to take my motorhome and the flat tire I got changed yesterday to get it repaired. I wish I was strong enough to get if off the spare tire rack and put it in the rental car trunk, but it is way too heavy. And then I would have to do the same thing when i got back! And I took the shower access panel off yesterday and found my slow drip. All it took was a wrench to tighten it, but the floor is wet, so that will take some time to dry. I really need to also replace my shower control fixture, so will hit Camping World tomorrow to see if they have a replacement.

Good luck on your campsite, Sue. I also have been making reservations for the summer. I am covered for Memorial Day and the Fourth, but not Labor Day yet because campgrounds are not yet open that far ahead. Don't want to wait until the last moment for that one!

Sue, I never knew that storms had names (other than hurricanes) until I moved away from Minnesota. Apparently, MN doesn't like to use the names for storms.

I have a cold now. Started a couple of days ago. Been taking ZiCam but so far not getting better (but maybe not getting worse?).

Was super busy at work today! I guess everyone who didn't get in for a haircut before Christmas, wants one before New Years!

Yesterday morning, I went with a new friend from the park here to go visit a friend of hers who owns 2 ferrets. It was fun to play with ferrets again but these two were very nippy so not so fun. All the ones I had I trained not to nip and they were great with everyone, including kids.

I have tomorrow off but will probably lay low if I am still feeling lousy. Besides, it is a bit chilly here right now anyways. I might put my Christmas stuff away tomorrow. Kind of tired of looking at it already. Will have to find out what we are supposed to do with our trees.

Have a good evening!

The weather channel must have started naming the winter storms. Not sure they are as memorable as some of the Hurricanes.

I watched most of the Garth Brooks special tonight, but didn't think the sound was very good. If I noticed something like that it must have been really bad. I kind of got tired of all the screaming.
