Sunday before Christmas

Good Morning from the 45th. Think there’s a bit of precipitation coming down out there as dogs feel a little damp on their coats, coming in from outside. Probably a fine snow as it is in forecast. Too dark to see right now, An inch is predicted and I’m hoping we get it to cover up the icy walking trail and the side roads around here, so dogs and I can walk without my worrying about slipping. Judy, your 38 degrees would be just nice for a walk in theses parts

And Judy, reading about your pump issues, I wonder if having new water lines put in would solve the problem with your pump. Would take care of any leaks there might be. If it could be done. Just a thought. Beth, sounds like you definitely need a change of scenery. Karen, you are doing what I will be doing later this winter. Giving my house a good deep cleaning too. But first will finish up my craft/workshop room project. Didn’t do anything down there yesterday as gave the house a quick cleaning and then had to run to Walmart for new charging cord for this IPad as old one wasn’t charging it any more. Can’t have that

Off to Sunday mass here in awhile and then home to get a turkey breast in the oven. Bought it for my Christmas Day dinner but it thawed out quicker than expected, so will fix it today. That’s okay though, as I can just reheat some on Christmas Day and fix the other things I want to go with it. Also need to make the veggie dip for tomorrow’s gathering a friends house.

Best get a move on here though, so will sign off. Have a nice day all.

Morning Sue, Just back from I hope the last trip for groceries. I dashed out to miss the crowds, didn’t eat breakfast. Riding home with 5 lb of steamed shrimp almost made me stop and have shrimp for breakfast. I resisted and had an omelette. Baking brownies for brownie sundaes so we have a little dessert. Everyone is cutting back on sweets. I will have my coconut cake from Sam’s Club which no one else likes but it is my Christmas treat. I slice it and freeze so it lasts a long time. I know I have rambled on but I did resist telling you what I will wear.

Yesterday I went to leave for work and discovered a gift bag and card on my front step. :D However, the gift bag was ripped and empty and the card had muddy raccoon footprints all over it! :o My neighbor must have dropped it off the night before and the raccoons got to it before I did! :( Whatever was in there must have been pretty yummy, no crumbs anywhere.

Been really busy at work and tips are good. I work this afternoon again and then have the next two days off. We have our Secret Santa gift exchange today. Will go to church tomorrow evening.

I have a lot of cleaning to do around here as well, but that will have to wait until next week.

I tried some Egg Nog with Baileys last night and that was really good! :D

Is anyone being affected by the govt shutdown as far as parks are concerned?

Have a good day! :D

C'mon Shirl, I want to hear what you'll wear.

Can someone explain why, if someone needs to come in my site it's almost always when I'm in the shower and Ty goes nuts. I ignore, Ty calms down, eventually. I asked my neighbor and it was the ranger checking my sticker.

My plan was to walk down to the other cg this morning. Well, I saw a trail heading that direction u hadn't been on so we took it. There were some y's. We ended up, eventually, I another loop (closed for the season) of this party. I kind of knew when I took one of the left y's that's what would most likely happen. Nice to walk a different trail, though, says Ty.

Beautiful, sunny day but winds have picked up and temps are going down some.

Does Ty need a bigger bed? He looks nicely curled up, but a bit crowded.

Sue, the problem with walks here is that everything is soaked. The ground is like walking on a swamp, so you would have to stick to roads. Plus, it is almost always raining or at least sprinkling. This is the wettest place I have ever been. It is fine in spring and summer, but fall and winter is really a mess. All of the trees are covered with "old man's beard" moss, which reminds me a lot of the swamps in Florida.

I have to go pick up a prescription today, so will need to unhook. I also need to refill my propane so I will not be cold over the holidays. A lady I met is going to take me to my doctor appointment and to pick up my first week of pills tomorrow, but I have a car rented from next Saturday to the next Saturday, so I will have easier transportation for a while.

Before I go shopping, however, I am backing up my laptop. End of the year is a good time to remember to backup things.

Oh! Crap, change the brownie sundaes to ice cream with brownie crumbles on top. Just wanted a little something sweet but this is a disaster. Brownies are about 1/2” high. Don’t know what happened, how can you mess up a box mix? Have walnuts in the freezer and chocolate syrup so sundaes with crumbles if they want them. Everything is ok, I managed to get the wine in the house without dropping it. :D Will just give the family another Shirley story “remember the Christmas Mom made brownie sundaes”. It’s all good.

Not much going on here as usual. I wanted some BBQ chicken and didn't want to drive to town. The only chicken I had was 4 thighs I bought for dressing. I browned 2 on the electric grill and baked them with BBQ sauce. I like the electric grill but it doesn't do good on thick meat. I got my turkey roast yesterday and hope it doesn't thaw out too fast.

Barbie, your raccoons had an early Christmas present. lol I haven't seen a raccoon in a while but I often see skunks right before dark. I try to feed the barn cats early so they can finish before the skunks come out.

I have a fruitcake recipe that I want to try. It's more cake than the usual fruitcake. It calls for a small can of crushed pineapple and Walmart was out. I had to stop at another store and they only had one can left. People must be using a lot of crushed pineapple for Christmas. I'm still thinking about those butter cookies. lol

It's up to 72 and would probably be warmer if the sun would come out.

Actually, that's a good size for him... But it's his travel bed. He has a bigger bed under the dinette that he considers his own private room. His toys go there, sometimes he takes his bowl there. He'll go there to chew a bone. When he, on a rare occasion decides to lie in it he takes up hardly any space at all. He's also taken over a small seat cushion as another "bed" if I'm not using it. And he'll take a throw pillow on the couch and move it to lie on. Believe me, he's spoiled rotten.

Shirl, I'd be perfectly happy with crumbles as topping.

Martha, bbq chicken sounds good.

works for me as well... perhaps the mix was out dated who knows it will taste great as crumbles...
my MIL made this dessert that we all love and is loved by even the grand kids... when asked where she got the recipe no one knows I suspect it was a failed fudge recipe as it's fudge the Hershey's one not cooked long enough poured over individual servings of chocolate cake talk about sugar over load but hey once in awhile it's good .... I remember once my young granddaughter had had a serving of what is called cake and dip then she asked me if she could have more I said ask your parent's was given permission had her second then out of the corner of my eye I saw her get the third thought she is her mom's daughter  and she is skinny as a rail
can't believe it's almost Christmas finally got the envelopes mailed they should arrive tomorrow hopefully they will
have a great day

Beth, great photo of Ty!

Got an email today saying my bike was being returned and a refund being processed because I didn't pick it up on time. I did go there last week when it came in and asked them to put it together for me. The guy said they would call me once it was assembled. Never got a call. I called their customer service. They just apologized and said to reorder it. I did reorder it but having it sent to a different WalMart near me. Good thing it wasn't needed by Christmas!

Wasn't quite so busy at work today. Have the next two days off. Looks like we will be getting rain tomorrow night thru Tuesday, so my beach plans might be put on hold. :(

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!
