Winter Solstice Friday

Hooray! The days will start getting longer from now on! And there is a tiny bit of sun in this rainy town today, but I am sure that is a teaser as rain is predicted all week.
I posted this fast so no one would duplicate this morning coffee posting, so now I will write more. I went out yesterday and got an oil change, tire pressure check, and a new house water pump because my old one was pumping just a drizzle. Now I can take a shower with a full stream of water, which is nice. I have a lot of little organizing tasks to do today, most important of which is scanning a 1955 cookbook that my mother helped put together when I was in elementary school for the mother's club. It has a lot of the old recipes from my grandmother, aunts, one uncle, and several neighbors. Plus, it has a lot of recipes from relatives of friends I went to school with, so they will be happy to have copies. I am using Publisher to put it into a booklet again and will probably save it as a PDF.
Also, I got my large order of baklava yesterday. Shipping was expensive, so I ordered two big trays and will store some of it, eat some of it, and give the rest away. I repackaged it into a couple of tins that I will store in one of my underneath storage bins because it is cold there and baklava keeps 3 months if refrigerated. I ordered rolls, roses, and some others with walnuts and some with pistachios. If you really like baklava, try Masri Sweets online or in Dearborn, MI, because they have the best and most variety! (Also cheapest because that and french pastries are all they make and sell. I'd order french pastries, but they don't ship well. ) Yum!
