Good morning as we move along toward Christmas Day. Rain showers coming in. Don’t think we are going to have as the song says “Where the treetops glisten” this Christmas, although it looks like some snow possible tomorrow. Right now we have dirty snow, icy patches, bare spots etc. Will be a dismal Christmas week for the tourism business if the snow bunnies can’t come up and play. The ski resorts though are fine thanks to snowmaking.

I’m heading off to the basement today. Time to sand down the spackling I put on my drywall repair, nail and screw holes and then prime those spots and paint those walls. Did finish my shelf moving but otherwise haven’t done much down there. Once the paint is on and dry, then I can start pulling it altogether. It’s kind of a fun project that has my creative juices flowing. I’m taking pictures as I go. I’ve got a bunch of picsctongetvpostedcon here. Just need to get in the frame of mind to do it.

Tina safe travel to NC and all along your winter journey. It’s nice to see people out traveling and talking GTG’s here and there. I like Judy am setting up summer reservations as the six month window opens here as by January, the State parks stsrt filling up.

Been trying to post on Anne’s thread about Christmas past and posts keep going poof, so will try again later. In the meantime, you all have a nice day. Time to get to work here.

Hope you do, Sue, and that they don't go "poof" on you again. I really enjoy your posts, helps me to imagine living in - or at least visiting Michigan (even if it is only a "virtual" visit  ! )

I have also really been enjoying all of the posts on "Christmas Memories" thread.

Hope others will chime in! Even if you have already posted, and have now remembered something new.

As most of you know, my posts are generally not the shortest posts in the world   . And if I try to re-write a "poof" post, I generally can't remember what I wrote, at least not in the same words as the original.

Since I have had my fair share of posts go "poof" in the past, and since I am nearly always writing my posts on my computer (and not on an IPad or smartphone) what I generally do before I hit "submit" is to copy-and-paste my post to a Word document (or sometimes just to an email that I then send to myself) and then save the Word document.

That way if my post goes "poof" I can just copy it from my saved Word document, and then paste it again into WomenRV.

Sue, I hope that you find the time to post a few snowy pictures, even if the snow around your place is not, well, 100%.

I love your snow pix, and they really help me to get into the Christmas spirit.

Thanks!

Anne

We got the rain from New Mexico yesterday and today we are suppose to get the wind. It's still raining and I have to leave soon to go have lunch with some of my camping friends.

The answer machine wasn't working and it looks like Sweetie Pie must have unplugged it when I had her shut up the other night. The kennel was up against that outlet. Thank goodness it was just the answer machine and not the freezer. That would have been a mess.

I got a message on my computer that there was an update for my Garmin GPS. The last time I tried to update it the computer wouldn't recognize that it was connected. I finally got it connected and they wanted me to buy maps. My Garmin is suppose to have Life Time Maps so I just quit. I didn't feel like getting into it with them. This time I plugged my GPS in, the computer recognized it and started updating. Supposedly it up dated in about an hour. I find that hard to believe because it use to take all night. I'll have to try it out. I liked the Garmin a lot more than the TomTom. I almost threw the Garmin away one time when I couldn't get it to come on at all.

I don't think we will have snow for Christmas either. Right now they are saying it will be 70. That would be fine with me. lol

Well Good Morning! I haven’t posted for ages so don’t fall off your chair. I have all my presents wrapped except for one that I just bought this morning after going to the wellness center. All my neighbor food gifts are delivered except for one and that will be gone today. I’ve dipped my candy in chocolate…my least favorite job. Part of Christmas dinner is in the freezer and ready to pop in the oven. Now I have to clean…ugh. I have the grands tonight so there isn’t much sense in starting until tomorrow. They can sow up the house in record time…especially the floors and the patio doors and the bathroom will look like Shamu just finished his act a Sea World. Plus I’ve been dog sitting for Roxy since last Friday and she is leaving this afternoon. It’s been melting out so every time she comes in she leaves paw prints all over the kitchen floor. Today is going to be my lazy day (aka nap time) because once I pick up the kids at daycare I won’t have a chance to sit down.

As you can see by the picture Haddie was less impressed with Santa this year than she was last year. Bronc has the Santa/presents game figured out and really cozies up to him!

I really got knocked down a couple notches yesterday. I pick up Bronc and three other preschoolers on Mondays and Wednesdays and take them to daycare. The one little boy was looking at me and said “Your hair looks like my great grandmas. She’s dead.” Now I ask you…how does a person reply to that!

I’m envying all of you who are on the road and enjoy your posts.

If I don’t post before Christmas….Have a Merry one.

Son, Chris, and I got tree from tree farm, decorated, put some lights outside, and have our shopping done. Dinner will be a prime rib. All in all, we are missing Mel, but doing ok. Weather here cool and some clouds but dry so far today. Plan to finish wrapping a few things, get neighbors gifts out, and bake Keto cookies. Finally paperwork has been processed and all checks coming or here monthly. That's a relief. Months ahead will be occupied with cleaning out house and closets then garage. Already two car loads to charity but decided more can wait until after holidays. After first of year begin getting appointments for van for generator repair, Mercedes check and a minor recall, and up to Harps for overall going over and check Mel's inverter install. Then I can begin going to get togethers, including a planned women of west coast gtg in oregon in June and trip to MN in August for younger sons graduation from law enforcement academy. Hope to see a few of you along the way and maybe Q in 2020.

Checking in. I made it to Raccoon Valley Escapees Park just north of Knoxville. It was rainy most all day and rainy and foggy north those last 40 miles. But. It was not snowy or icy so I am okay with wet. Poor Audrey and Lark won’t be able to get much of a walk in tonight but every day won’t be a state park with sunshine....

Plan to hit my daughter’s driveway tomorrow and not too many days later I hope to make it to Liz and Bob’s home park. We may or may not get the kayaks wet but are hoping to break out the cards!

Pat, the hair comment is really funny. I got my hair cut last week so kind of have it under control.

There were 7 of us at lunch. One lady cancelled because it was raining. If I didn't do something because it is raining I wouldn't go much. We solved the problems of the world or at least the camping world. lol We were there for 3 hours and I was afraid they were going to charge us rent.

I posted earlier about the giving tree we had at the park here for disadvantanted military kids. I bought a ukulele for a 7 year old girl. Yesterday we delivered the gifts to a classroom at Camp Pendleton. They were so polite and well-behaved! The girl I bought for has a twin sister. Their mom has been deployed and their dad stays home to take care of them and their 2 year old brother. The kids took turns opening their gifts (they each got two). It was so fun to watch! They were all so excited with what they got and they all gave us a thank you card and several came up and thanked each of us personally. I was really glad I was able to go.

Worked 5 hours today and made over $60 in tips! Heavy fog is rolling in from the coast so am staying in now. Just got home from a little shopping (cards, wrapping paper, etc) so will relax tonight with some Baileys and hot cocoa with whipped cream! :D

One more day before the days start getting longer again! Yay!

Have a good night! :D

I have to tell you my "age" story. When I was taking weekly classes at Michigan State University, I would leave my office early and drive two hours to the main campus in East Lansing. Classes were from 4-7 pm, so I had to stop to get something to eat on the way. This was about in 1995 when McDonald's was experimenting with having you give your order at a window face-to-face to a person.

Usually, I ordered a sandwich and a Coke, but one day I ordered just a Coke. The very young girl at the window said that would be 27 cents for a senior Coke. I was early 50s then and not quite used to senior drinks, so I asked her how old you had to be to get a senior Coke. She answered that there was no set age. That they just looked at the person, and if they looked old enough, they gave them the senior Coke price!!! After that, i always wondered if I looked old enough for a senior Coke that day. Did it depend on how I dressed or fixed my hair?? It was pretty funny, actually.

Made reservations today for June 20 - July 3 at TIllicum Beach State Park in Oregon and am going to post a get-together. Right now there are plenty of reservable spots available. Cost for this beachside federal campground, including reservation fee, is $20 per night for an electric site if you have a senior card. Many sites, electric or not, have ocean views or are at least only a couple of hundred feet from the beach. I chose my favorite Site 27, where I can also get a satellite signal and have a small view of the ocean.

my couch is in...wish I was in love with it but it is in better shape..and will do it's arms aren't as plush as mine was but didn't stop me from taking a nap  my angel isn't lighting up have had her for years every year I think I am going to replace it but haven't found one I like as well she is just pretty...perhaps when I take down the decorations I will see if I can find the light bulb that is out...and then perhaps I won't if I had put the tree together right so the tree's lights would work there would have been one under her dress and would have lite up the angel...and the strand of lights I put on some don't work. didn't realize it when I put it on so perhaps something was bumped loose still has enough lights though other than the angel
so I did go to Ehernburg so much for my not going to go  then will need to go Monday to pick up packages that are suppose to be delivered that day... and hopefully they will be..
tomorrow is a game day and we usually do food on Fridays tomorrow just doing finger food...going to take those sliders made with Hawaiian sweet rolls and some cheese and crackers

Sheila, what do you put in your sliders?

My age story...about 10 years ago back in MN, a guy came in to the shop for a haircut, I recognized his last name and asked if he had a brother named Mike? He said yes and how did I know his brother? I said he was in one of my classes in high school. The he asked what class I taught! :o Biting my tongue, I told him we were classmates. Good thing I wasn't cutting his hair!

DPF. I laughed out loud at the kids' remark. I can't believe how Bronc has grown!! I remember so well the picture you posted of him riding his pony through the bar!
I liked the other related stories. There for awhile I was getting free stuff, like when I got my order at the Dairy Queen one day the girl said that 'someone' had already paid for it! Another time same thing happened at a coffee shop, the girl said no charge. At another I got a red rose on the way out. And they weren't giving them to everyone, figured it was one of those, if they look old enough.....

I wish I were organized for Christmas, I have gifts I need to buy but not having much success in deciding or going out looking. It is cloudy and damp here, think I'll read a book.

Hawaiian Ham &Swiss Sliders
24 slices of deli honey ham
6 slices of Swiss cheese cut into fourths
1/3 C. Mayo
1 T. poppy seeds
1 1/2 T. Dijon mustard
1/2 C. butter melted
1 T. onion powder
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 Pkg. (12 Ct.) King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls
Note I cut this in half as there was just a few of us
method
cut the bread in half spread mayo one 1 side of the rolls Place a slice or two of the ham and slice of Swiss cheese on top Replace the top of the rolls and bunch them together into a baking dish. I think my daughter when she makes them puts them into a rimmed cookie sheet I put mine in an oblong cake pan..
melt the butter add rest of ingredients brush the top of the rolls with this mixture let sit for 10 mins bake at 350 for 10 mins or till Swiss cheese is melted a bit...remove aluminum foil bake a few moments till a bit crusty
I like them hope you do as well
