Sunny Sunday, finally

Morning All, whew it finally stopped raining. Nothing interesting to share. Need to straighten this messy house, decorating is so much fun. ;) Bought some beautiful asparagus and put it in a glass jar with a couple inches of water. It will keep a couple of weeks (a hint from the local asparagus farmer). Safe travels.

P.s. keep in fridge

Thanks for the asparagus tip. I love it but seldom buy any.

It is already up to 77 and of course it's suppose to rain. I need to get dressed because there are some things I want to do outside. My house is a mess and I haven't been decorating. I keep looking at wreaths so I might find one that I like enough to buy. I need to find some decorations for the Christmas campout. I have a metal Santa and a door mat that use to play music. There might be a way to change the battery in the door mat.

It is slightly sunny here in central Oregon, but there is still haze around. Since it is supposed to be mostly rainy for the next 7 days, I am going to do a couple of loads of laundry. Luckily, I don't have to walk too far to the laundry. And my new heater is keeping the place fairly warm so I am not burning through as much propane. I will make a trip out on Tuesday to get bread and a couple of items, but then will be staying in next weekend after my kidney stone surgery. Since I will have a stent in my bladder up to my kidney, I expect to be in pain for the four days it will be in, so I need to get the prescription they gave me filled on Tuesday also. I want to have everything done so I can just chill out with my meds!!

They will hopefully take the stent out on Monday and then I will feel MUCH better. I am thinking of driving up to Portland on the following weekend (Saturday?) to do some exploring. Except I will rent a car for the weekend, NOT drive the motorhome. I can go up in the morning and even come back after dark that way. That will make things like parking a lot easier, and Enterprise has cheap three-day weekend rates on weekends.

I was taught to wrap asparagus (and green onions) in paper towels then run water over it before putting in the fridge. The glass is a new one for me. I'll see if I remember it lol

Ginger cancelled our excursion yesterday. I did today. We're going to try for next weekend.

I got my new glasses yesterday. Prescription perfect. But I'm going to be getting used to the frames. When I pass a mirror I'm not sure... But I picked them. I also have ordered another pair (different frame) that won't be progressives or bifocals. They'll just correct distance. Since this is my second time my distance prescription has gone down, and I can see close fine without glasses, I want to try it.

Cooking for one I end up wasting fresh vegetables so am always looking for ways to save. Ever need just one stalk of celery for tuna fish salad and either do not have any or it’s nasty. Wrap a bunch of celery tightly in foil and it lasts longer. I use heavyweight because it lasts longer with continuous wrapping. Don’t know why but organic celery doesn’t last as long. Guess pesticides preserves. :(

Way past morning but just kicking back and enjoying the day off before starting back to the grind tomorrow. Its been a great 5 days off and I've been really busy with little things and of course the bigger things of spending time with family. Still no decisions as to relocating. I bought a freezer on Amazon that will fit under my booth seat and is 12v or electric. I will be able to freeze more dinners for boondocking. It arrives Friday, gives me time to get some meals done up for my upcoming two weeks at LaPosa over Christmas. ( Actually it will be day after)
Not much else to share in the news dept. :-D

Shirl, I know what you mean about buying veggies for one (and fruit too). For celery, I buy a small snack pack of baby carrots, celery sticks and ranch dip. There is usually just enough celery to chop up for tuna salad. Now I go to the Wings And Things across the street from work and buy a baggie of carrots and celery sticks from them and use that.

Had a small turkey dinner on Thanksgiving but it wasn't too great. Bought a precooked half of a turkey breast. Next time I will just get a whole turkey breast and cook it myself. Maybe try that for Christmas.

Last night a former co-worker had a "Friendsgiving" party at her house. Was mostly 20 somethings there (including several coworkers) but was fun if not a bit risky  . My coworker's roommate was cooking a turkey and started it way too late so it wasn't nearly done by the time we all arrived. It was also a pot luck so by the time the turkey was finally "done", our hotdishes were cold. Everyone was so hungry by then that no one really cared. I say "done" because they pulled the turkey out of the oven 15 degrees too soon just to be able to finally eat. I didn't eat it since it was kind of pink inside yet. After we ate, they started a fire in the firepit in the back yard. One guy poured gasoline on the logs before lighting it. Yikes! :o Just the tops of the logs were lit so I asked for some paper to put under them. One girl brought out a paper bag and stared just tearing pieces and throwing them on the fire. I asked her for the bag and crumpled up the pieces and put them under the logs and within minutes we had a nice fire going that lasted for the next several hours. My camping experience has paid off a bit! (wasn't that long ago that I didn't know how to light a campfire).

Super busy at work today. Guess everyone forgot to get their hair cut before Thanksgiving! Did 16 haircuts in 6 hours!

That's a good idea about buying one of the small vegetable trays.

I don't think I would have eaten the turkey either. I have had food poisoning before. Every time I think about eating something from a gas station I remind myself of the time I thought I was going to die. lol Butterball makes a 3 pound turkey roast that is a mix of dark and white meat. They are pretty good. Around here they have one that is Cajun flavored but I didn't like it.

Putting celery in a small glass with a little water will help keep it crisp a little longer. The Victorians had special containers known as celery vases to keep it fresh. Of course few had refrigeration so it stayed on table with water
