I hated leaving my secluded, peaceful spot this morning but there aren't many of us over here and I parked way away from the few who are. And this will be very convenient to the dump station before leaving. If it gets crazy I'll head back to the other area, but not before it fills up later in the afternoon. It's kind of nice having wifi though.
Judy, I love that song. And people don't respect the Great Lakes as they should. I lost two friends when they were out in their sailboat on Lake Michigan. While out the coast guard issued an alert not expected. Their sailboat turned over trying to get back and they died of hypothermia. In August. Even being cautious and wearing life jackets they got caught in something unexpected. The coast guard knew they were out and quickly went out to see if they needed help, but it was too late.

Good Morning, Loved those pictures of Lake Superior Barbie. I also like the song about the Edmond Fitzgerald. Many years ago I rented a kayak in Duluth and went out into their little harbor. I stayed within the safety line, as I got closer to being out of the harbor, the waves got rougher and rougher. I was amazed at the size of the “Great Lakes” when I first saw them

Good morning from the desert at LaPosa north. Been here a few days just to get away and say "ya, I went somewhere and didn't waste fall break" lol The weather has been SO comfortable, even had my bedroom window open all night feeling the breeze. I'm in my usual spot and not a soul around ! A few up by the entrance though. Yesterday I took a drive into Parker to meet up with a couple friends at Bluewater Casino. Had a great day, stepped up to a machine dropped in a couple bucks, 2 min later I had 75$. DONE, in my pocket it went! I must say temps in Parker were much warmer than Quartzsite so I did not spend the night cause I didn't want to keep up the gas gauge for the generator. I will however some day, cross the river and check out the blm camping on the river. I was planning on returning home today but it's raining pretty good in Phoenix and I10 is bad enough without that mess. So will check the weather tomorrow. I do have to at least go home Sunday, lol.Dr appt Monday and back to work Tuesday.
Long story shorter, me and the two girls are enjoying some solitude.
Ya'll have a great day, glad everyone survived the hurricane but so sad for the destruction.

Chilly morning here today 35° and frost on all the rooftops. BUT supposed to warm up to 86° LOL sheesh. Sun is out so pondering what to wear LOL Will need to go pick up my neighbor at the hospital some time today. He called to let me know he had another test this morning so will know more later. Then need to go pick up a prescription for my other friend Malia.
Since my day is a little disjointed think I will just go to the store and get some things for dinners. Had my NuWave going yesterday with pork chops and roasted parmesan cauliflower. Really good. Thinking I will make some spaghetti for a couple days meals. Then next week need to get back on my Keto diet. Amazingly I didnt gain any weight on my camping trip.....and I should have hah But still want to drop 12 pounds. Now that the mornings are cooler Emma and I will do more walking, that should help.

After my dad died and my mother was living there alone, I used to spend almost every summer weekend at our cottage at the tip of Michigan's Thumb directly on Lake Huron. I cannot tell you how many late nights I used to spend watching the Coast Guard Search and Rescue helicopters fly slowly back and forth over the lake with spotlights looking for missing boaters. Many people used to get into boats that were too-small and get caught in sudden storms. I also got caught rounding the tip of the thumb once with my ex-husband in my dad's very heavy and stable 20' boat and ended up going up and down 7' waves, with the boat's nose diving into troughs. Five people drowned in that storm-from-nowhere that weekend. Passed jet boats with only 8" of freeboard and don't know if they made it or not. Very, very scary. Made me respect lakes in general and especially those lakes.
Headed down to Emigrant Lake near Medford, OR, and then on to Napa for a week or so.
I posted something in the members-only area to explain why I am changing my plans for winter travel. Don't want the public and my employers to know, so posted it there. Nothing horrible, but something I wanted to explain.

I read recently about a family of 5 who were kayaking across Lake Superior and got caught in a storm. Here is a link to that tragic story...
https://fox4kc.com/2018/09/03/mother-is ... -superior/I think those lakes are so large that they can create their own storms out of nowhere.
Irmi, so sorry about your house flooding again! Are you going back there to clean up? I think my girlfriend in FL and her DH are thinking of moving inland to higher ground now, due to the close calls they recently had and the flooding they had 2 years ago. Enough is enough.
Ava, is La Posa North the one that Sheila always stays at? I imagine it is pretty quiet around there this time of year altho will probably start picking up soon with the snowbirds heading south now.
A former co-worker from MN is out here for a wedding this weekend. Unfortunately, she is gonna be too busy for a get-together with me, before leaving on Sunday. I would have liked to have seen her for a bit.
I have tomorrow off but I heard it could rain so I any plans to work on the yard will have to wait if that happens. Lots to do inside if necessary.

Irmi, I'm so sorry your house flooded again. I know what a mess that is. If a hurricane like the one that just hit Florida came in here I wouldn't have anything left. We have been talking about building a metal building on some property 20 miles inland but I don't know if that would have been far enough.
Toledo Bend lake isn't near as large a the great lakes but it can get white caps if the wind is strong. One time when my son and I were camping there we launched the boat. Instead of taking it out of the water we just tied it up in the cove behind the boat launch. I always wondered why the people that fished there always picked up their boats every day. We had to leave the next day and the lake was very rough. That was a harrowing trip around the point in a 14 foot boat to get to the boat launch. I didn't do that again.
I went to town to get my weekly fried fish and remembered to get my flu shot.
I finally got most of the yard mowed. I had to mow part of it high so will have to mow it again. Hopefully it won't rain before I get that done. I saw on the weather that Texas might get snow in the panhandle. Hope we don't have really cold weather for our campout next week.
CC is on the top of the cabinet in my office. He can barely squeeze his fat butt up there. He is getting big. Hope he doesn't bail out on my head.

Barbie, yes where we all stay, and it looks so "out in the middle of nowhere" cause it's empty, just me, quiet and peaceful and Maggie has nothing to bark at lol
