Good Morning. Home from the last camping trip of the season. Now time to winterize, give my trailer a bath and snuggle it under it’s cover. No big hurry on that though. Weather is chilly and wet, so have to wait a bit anyway. We are about 20 degrees below normal right now, but returning to more normal like temps next week. But I love the cooler temps.
Tina and Judy, loved your stories about your old home and the owls. BJ, good thing that owl answered you back or your neighbors would think you lost it for sure
Velda, glad to see you are putting one foot in front of the other and starting to find your new “normal”. It will come slowly but surely. Lyn, sorry you are having back issues etc., time to head to a chiropractor. O’Sharon, glad you had a nice time in elk country too.
Nothing exciting going on here. Catching up on the laundry pile. Brought in all the bedding etc. to wash from the trailer. Doing a little tree branch trimming in the yard, need to wash the windows too. Otherwise just waiting for the leaves to turn and fall. They are starting but it will be at least another 2 weeks before we hit peak.
So guess I’ll go get this day started. Have a nice day everyone

Good morning
Really enjoying these cooler mornings, but still pretty warm later in the day. That is changing very soon as the hurricane in the Pacific is pushing weather this way. My local snowbirds are starting to come back to make decisions on their last park models and and such. This is the last winter everyone has in this place. I honestly can't begin to explain how this has really hurt me deeply. Brings back memories of my loss after 911 and starting over. Age wise, there is no starting over, but I will push on, its just that sometimes reality gets in the way of my thinking.
On a happy note, have a few girls from my Colorado days of driving bus in town visiting. The 3 of them rented an extended stay house . Will spend the day with them and do some catching up.
My jello plans for Austin tx second week of October is quickly dissolving. Again, reality stepping in.
Time to get some breakfast and get a few chores done before I leave for the day. Y'all have a great day and be safe.

Morning. Well our weather is pretty silly this week. Yesterday supposed to be 95 but only got 91 due to the layer of smoke. Smoke should start moving out now with the front coming in later today...AND our temp today only 71 predicted. Checked the weather in Redding for next weeks camping trip...............70's and 80's and sunny. Perfect.
Will finish up the rug shampoo this morning in the spare bedroom then can put that machine away. Need to wash and cut up my onions I harvested and get them in the freezer. Giving the last of the tomatoes away as I have plenty.

Have a new momma raccoon and one very cute, small baby with her coming around lately. (No I am not feeding them anymore). Later, the mom got in a fight with something along the creek but I looked out the window with the flashlight afterward and both she and the baby were OK. Must have met up with another raccoon. Still hearing reports of a cougar up in the hills nearby. There is a large preserve up there so there is a lot of wildlife there. That is also were the coyotes hang out. I won't be hiking up there for awhile...
I think I will try for the DMV in San Marcos later today. The one near me is closed today. I hear that the San Marcos one is less busy especially on Saturday afternoons. Need to get that done.
It is a beautiful sunny day here. Expecting rain here on Monday and Tuesday from the remnants of the hurricane in Baja. We sure need it!
Enjoy your day!

It is raining again. My house is turning green and I'm afraid I'll be next. I probably need to put some Damp-Rid in the camper. I need to call the RV place and see if I can get the satellite changed to Directv and covers over the roof vents so I can leave them open.
Barbie, I would be afraid to hike where there might be cougars after the attacks that have happened lately. I don't know if that was near you but someone was killed. There have been reports of a bear sighted at the state park near me which is only about 2 miles through the woods. I use to walk to the end of the road which is about a mile but now don't get out of sight of the neighbors.
CC is bored. He is out one door and in the other. I guess he can't find anyone to play with. I'll probably go to the post office and Walmart because I'm bored too. I could clean house but not something I want to do. Tomorrow is the BBQ fund raiser at the state park. I have a ticket to go pick up a lunch. Hope I don't forget in the morning.

Sorry to hear plans aren't holding up. I'll be heading south next week, with no major plans except maybe New Mexico. Let me know where you may go and we can maybe meet up. You know ive got to meet the new furkid.

Ava, changes can be very hard sometimes and I think it gets harder as we get older, especially when it comes to what we consider "home". Have you gotten any more ideas on where you might go next year? Maybe if you have something/someplace to look forward to, it will be easier for you emotionally to deal with these changes.
Martha, I would be less concerned about a bear than a cougar. Bears are generally harmless unless they are protecting their young. Cougars generally stay very clear of humans and most attacks are on people who are jogging or biking (ie moving fast). Still would not want to chance it tho.
I went to the DMV in San Marcos and they only had a half hour wait, but they had me moving from one counter to another so much, I didn't really notice. One counter to be assigned a number, then a counter to verify my birth certificate, address, SS number, etc, then to the computer kiosk to fill out forms, then to wait for my number to come up and pay at that counter, then to get my photo taken at another counter, then to take my written test at a kiosk (which I passed with only 2 wrong), then to another counter to finalized everything. Whew! So glad to be done with that! Got the new "real ID" and got registered to vote.
I feel a nap coming on...

Barbie, that's quite a process at the DMV. Here the same person does everything from beginning to taking your picture. I had a paper that told how to get the drivers license you can fly with. I forgot what they call it. Right now I would have to use my passport. Not that I want to fly anyway. My passport expires next year and will have to remember to renew it in case I want to visit my brother in Canada.
It was just raining hard enough to knock out the internet and TV. It tripped the breaker in part of the house. I'm glad all the cats were in. I had to go rescue Frosty earlier. For some reason he and Mr. P got into a fight on the carport. I have never seen Mr. P go after another cat like that.

Martha, when I was in MN, we just went to one counter and got everything done there too. This was totally different than anything I have experienced before. The "Real ID" is the new drivers license that you can fly with in the future.

Barbie... Finally, right?
Ty got his annual shots which included rabies this year today. He was not "full of it tonight". But he still liked our walk.
Those of you who favor the keto diet should read the recent studies. I've never thought it a good one personally, and recent studies are agreeing with me. Too much meat and too few fruits and veggies. But most of all, these new studies are saying it shortens life. What it has going for it is teaching people to avoid processed foods and refined sugar.
Off to bed. I get to start putting the store to bed tomorrow.

Sorry Beth, but those so called studies have already been proven paid for by big AG and outright lies. I'm reading the real research by places like Duke University, UC Davis, San Diego State, and on and on in the US, Canada, Europe and more! Our DNA has not changed substantially in over 50,000 years and our ancestors ate very few carbohydrates . DNA has not changed, research proves Carbohydrates are not necessary to the human body. Those silly news report pushed so called studies you are reading come out every few weeks and are not real studies. I happen to agree with the real experts doing the research, not what news media likes to inflame people with. My weight dropping by over 65 lbs so far, healthier at 70 than in years and triglycerides dropping over 50% ( from 140 to 70) is the truth you should look at. Look at the meteoric rise in chronic diseases such as diabetes and Alzheimer's and heart disease since the push for people to eat carbohydrates including so called healthy grains began. Believe as you wish, but in fact real evidence is mounting proving that I'm right.
I am editing this because it occurs to me that Beth you may not understand what the Keto diet is. It's high fat (good fats), moderate protein ( Not high protein! Calls for a palm size piece of protein per meal) and low carbohydrate ( not No carb, but above ground vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, greens and summer squash). Please tell me where exactly that sounds bad to you?

Velda, we will agree to disagree. And, no, the studies I'm reading weren't paid for as you said. By the way, i worked for a big pharma company years ago and much of their money went to the university studies. So I guess you could say they were paying them then. I don't advocate being vegetarian but find it to probably be the healthiest way to go. That said, humans were getting healthier for years... Until the relatively recent influx of making our foods "fast"and processed and now gmo, etc. Truthfully, to be healthy getting back to basics and sensible eating, and most importantly, getting our weights back under control would mean more than anything else.

I say if it is working, keep with it. I have read a little bit about that diet and it is something I could possibly handle (versus others that I would really have a hard time doing and sticking with). Will do more reading about it tho. I think every "diet" has good and not so good things about it. And I think some work better for certain people and not as well for others. Just my humble opinion...
