Hot Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hot Wednesday

Postby Othersharon » Wed Sep 05, 2018 10:45 am

Good morning. Well, at least for a few minutes more! Nothing much happening in my world, another hot, humid day that means staying inside for most of it! Supposed to cool down after today so will be able to go out and tackle the outside chores. Hoping those of you in the path of the storm in the south are doing okay. They’re already talking about another big storm coming off the Atlantic so hope it weakens but the way this weather has been going it’s hard to say.

Tina, are you and pup rested up from your busy weekend? Barbie, sure hope they convinced the guy to move on. That has to be scary. Will your new roommate be around more? That might deter any activity on your property too. Agree with having a security light on your house. I have lights that come on at dark and off in the morning that pretty much light up my whole backyard. Plus lights out front too. Beth, how was your dinner? And before you know it you’ll be hitting the road! Think you’ll get out before the first snow flakes? Not liking to think about that yet! And Velda, thinking about you and sending thoughts your way. Ok, enough rambling. Need to get busy again! Break is over! Have a great day, everyone.

Hi Sharon & everyone!

It's warm here on the east coast and very humid. Saw lots of schools were going to close three hours early because of the heat and because so many schools don't have air conditioning. Some schools that were supposed to open yesterday and today cancelled classes for the entire day. And on one of the hottest days of the year, Steve decided to burn branches that have fallen in the yard during the winter wind storms. Timing is everything. LOL! We'll continue tomorrow to finish off the branches.

Also keeping Velda and Mel in my thoughts and prayers.

Dinner was awesome, thanks. I consider this one of my top restaurants anywhere as far as food goes. I've always ordered something different... Only once was I disappointed and that was about the food I tried, not them. Several things I've ordered there I've never had before. Here's a pic of our group last night.

I stopped in the store earlier but am working the later shift today, so home relaxing. It's downright chilly here today, but temps to rise to 70's again tomorrow. Yay. I haven't seen anything about snow yet but doubt we'll make it the next few weeks without seeing some, if only flurries. What the weather does completely effects where I go first when leaving here.

Warm here to in upper 90's. Still hanging out waiting for the Chief to take his leave from this earthly realm. Dilaudid pump has him comfortable and catheter keeping him dry. No time table as he went fast downhill than expected then didn't leave when nurses expected. So im journaling and keeping up with physical care and conducting business by iPad and phone. Applied for my first credit card on my own in over 40 years and with miracles of Internet was able to put my cyber signature on it so should have new card in few days ready for pickup at credit union. Paid for shipping on his special Chiefs casket from Tennessee to our funeral home. Then a company here is doing special beautiful embroidery and plaques to attachment and liner for box out of dress blue uniform fabric and I get his Chiefs sword that comes with package. His photos in collage with his flag and sword will look nice on wall. Not going to read other messages today as I'm pretty distracted, but at least I slept last night again. Safe day everyone, I'm really pretty ok as have had a week to accoustom myself to all this, yes crying a lot but tears are good release!

Beth, you will surely be missed next year. Is Linda planning to go back next year?

I have motion sensored lights in the front and carport side but need some in the back and creekside. The homeless guy was ordered to leave and was given information on resources to help him find a better place to live. Hope that keeps him away for awhile! I will feel better when my roommate is living here.

The sun is out today so will be warmer but still in the 70's. Heating up to near 90 by the weekend tho.

Got most of the master bathroom done and cleaned yesterday. The tub/shower was filthy. Hasn't been cleaned since I bought the place (and she left if pretty dirty) but now it is sparkling clean and ready to use. Also put in a new shower head with hose and a filter (water is nasty here, smells like swamp water!) and grouted along the base of the tub. New shower curtain and toilet seat. Still need to paint under the sink since it smells really musty under there.

Next is to go thru all the boxes of stuff stored in the walk-in closet and get that organized so I can move my clothes in there.

Have a few hours here to get some things done before heading to work later.

Have a good day! :D

....Velda, you are so strong! You have so much to deal with right now and seem to be handling it very well. Glad you are able to get some better sleep now. I feel for you and am praying for your continued strength thru this.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Taking today off. I worked most of yesterday and my body let me know. Motrin and Tylenol were my friends. Slept well tho. Carport, patio and that side of the house look great tho All the spider webs are gone.
Still need to finish painting the front casing of my window but it is on the hot side so might try to finish that up tonite, its a small job I have left.

Playing Mexican train this afternoon with a few neighbors. Always lots of laughs. I won last week but today is a whole new day.

Velda sounds like you are hanging in there. Glad you are getting some sleep that is so important. Hope Mel passes peacefully and glad he is not in any discomfort. My thoughts are with you and your son.

About an hour ago I heard hammering and sawing going on along the creek behind my house again. I called the sheriffs dept again. They came out again. I told him what I heard and where to find the trail from the orange grove that the transients use to get down there and he said he would go over there and see what he could find. Yesterday, the police went to the other side of the creek and chased some transient out of there but it isn't the same one. I told him the guy is living on this side of the creek. So he left, I was assuming, to park near the entrance by the orange grove and walk over to the trail. I can see over my retaining wall in back from my master bathroom window so I stood there to watch for him to go back there. I waited over a half hour and never saw anyone back there and I can clearly see the beginning of the trail down to the creek from my window. I am not happy. I imagine they figure I am just some old paranoid woman and they don't want to waste their time with transients. I might just have to go back there myself (with taser in hand)!

I almost missed my monthly club meeting last night. I had gone to town and ran errands and come home. I was watching the news and thought about checking my calendar. We met at a restaurant this time but it was really hard to hear what was going on. More women come when we meet at a restaurant but there aren't many places that have a room we can meet in without paying for the room. We were just at a long table in a corner near the bar.

I went to my dermatologist appointment today. She froze 6 places on my face and took a sample to send off of something on my shoulder. She said it didn't look that bad but wanted to check it.

Velda, good idea to get credit cards in your name. It's a good thing I already had cards in my name because they cancelled all the ones with Harold's name even if I was on the account. The card companies must check to see who dies because I didn't call them. I had frozen our credit back when one of the credit bureaus was hacked. I would like to get another Walmart credit card but not bad enough to unfreeze my credit. I was afraid the bank would freeze the checking account but I can still access any account that had my name on it. Harold went fast after hospice started giving him more pain medicine. He was just in so much pain that it was a blessing when he passed. I called it the long goodbye. I don't miss the Harold I knew for his last year but the one I knew for 40 years.

Barbie, don't you go where the transients are. I hope the police don't tell them who reported them. You just don't know what they might do.

Time to go walk Hank. At least it didn't rain today. Now we are watching what is coming off the African coast. It would be 10 days to 2 weeks before they would know what it is going to do. Great, just when I'm suppose to leave.
