Good morning! Hard to believe we're wrapping up another month. Where has the summer gone? We woke up to rather chilly temperatures this morning, in the mid 50's. Closed all the windows and cranked on the heat to take the chill off. But now the windows are open and we're already in the mid 70's, heading into the mid 80's for our high today.
We're visiting with friends that we met at this campground 30 years ago and they're still seasonal here, but since they also have a cabin in Maine on their mountain, they're not here as often as they used to be. So we take advantage of their time in Delaware to camp with them. All of us spent the afternoon together yesterday and that's the plan to do the same today.
Crab cakes and Silver Queen corn are on the menu for dinner, so whoever stops by is welcome to join us.

Morning everyone. I'm still hanging in here caring for Mel as the days get tougher. He has fallen several times, stubborn guy that he is, he won't wait even two seconds for help. He is on oxygen full time which helps some. Giving Opiods pain medication about every 4 hours now. May soon call hospice in. I'm still trying to get to Curves 3 times a week. Have fun some days listening to my phone app scanner when Office Nick is doing reserve duty in his county, getting hours of internship in towards his law enforcement degree. We hear him talk every so often on it, from his squad car as he patrols.
Looking forward to getting back out in nature when I can.
Have a great weekend all.
Velda

Good morning. It was very cool, dark and windy when I took the pup out at 5:30 this AM. Velda, so nice to hear from you even though
ther days are getting tougher. Hang in there and keep enjoying your time at Curves!
Have a good day and weekend everyone.
Linda

Velda, we all are thinking of you and your family. And as you already know Hospice is there for both of you, as little or as much as each of you need to go with this journey.

Hello Everybody from sunny Connecticut.
Velda, I been thinking about you and Mel and how strong you both have been. We are all sending you loving thoughts.
Irmi, my calendar shows another Friday, the 31st. I'm just ribbing you. It's so easy to not know what day it is, let alone how many are left. Enjoy today. Peggy

Slept until almost 11:30 this morning! I am on a candida cleanse so I think that is making me very tired. I am usually up and at'm by 8:30 or 9.
Velda, I think you would both benefit by calling in Hospice soon. Sounds like you could use the help physically and mentally right now. It is good that you are still going to Curves. Exercise is good to relieve stress and get your mind on something else for a bit, and also to be around other people. Am thinking about and praying for you two thru this difficult time.
Need to get working on a project or two before heading to work later.
Have a good day!

I went to town in the truck to get gas for the mower. The deli has fried catfish on Fridays so picked up a lunch. I can make 2 meals out of what they put for $8. Seafood is more expensive. During the week their lunches are $6. When they have something I like it sure beats cooking. I was almost home and noticed the inspection sticker on the truck expired last month. I couldn't have noticed that in town.
This time last week I was camping with friends. We were having a good time. Drove into Breaux Bridge to go to Walmart and a daiquiri shop. A 22oz margarita lasted me all weekend because I put it in the freezer. I would have missed supper if I had drank all of it.
The mosquitoes are bad after all the rain. They swarmed me when I walked in the yard yesterday so I decided to see if the Johnson's baby creamy oil really worked as a mosquito repellent. I see discussions about it on Facebook so wanted to see for myself. It actually works. It kept the mosquitoes off my legs and arms but they were landing on my clothes. Guess you would have to spray off on your clothes too. It says it's non-greasy but I could feel it on my skin. When I was a kid the only mosquito repellant was some kind of smelly, oily stuff grandpa would rub on us. I hated that stuff.

Oh, yum, crab cakes and corn. I want some!
Velda, my heart goes out to you and Mel. Hugs.
Irmi, we can have two last Fridays this month... Works for me.
The store is so slow... Boring!

Barbie, I beat you getting up by a whole half-hour! I have been staying up very late to grade papers and update my blog because the my internet, via cell service, is so weak during the day. It gets much better around 10 pm so I do my work between then and 1 am. With my shower and all, I did not get to sleep last night until almost 3. Have a little bit of a connection right now, but it is very slow for loading and uploading. The view from my campsite, however, is more than worth the late hours!
And today is actually sunny with no fog right now, so I can see out to the whole Pacific horizon. Most days have been very foggy and really cold. Just cold today! Almost out of propane, so will have to go in tomorrow and get a refill. Campground has electric and water at many sites, but no dump station, so have to drive to nearby town, so will dump tanks as well. Been doing very well at conserving water. I can make it four days if I am very careful, and that includes a shower once a day and washing dishes, but this week, I might have gone five days except I have to go in for the propane so might as well do both.
Check my updated blog for some photos of this gorgeous coastline that will make those of you not on the west coast jealous!

Martha, where did you find that Johnsons Baby cream oil? I have looked everywhere in stores and online and it is either sold out or no longer available or very pricey. I found a generic brand but since I haven't seen any mosquitoes here, I don't know if that will work the same.
Just did one coat of teal paint along the trim and edges of walls. Another coat going on shortly and then I just have to roll the paint on the rest of it! Will be so nice to be done with it all and get moved in! I have been matching the teal color (hard to do since teal can be any mix of green and blue!) from my new comforter set to the wall color, a throw blanket, sheets and even a window scarf! Can't wait to see how it all looks when I get it done! Hopefully, my handyman can get over here sometime next week to get all the bathroom fixtures installed, the ceiling fan put up, and the mirror hung so that will be done too!

Not morning by a long shot. Also, not home yet! Daughter said I can come home tomorrow. I have been enjoying driving the 55 mph here in Calif. All the speed demons just zip on by me!
Velda, thinking of you and Mel every day. I thought hospice was wonderful when my daughter had them in for her husband three years ago.
Crab cakes and corn, wow, if we were closer, I would be there!
Barbie, your home is going to be so beautiful one of these days! Slowly but surely!
I am finding the new CA parks web site quite difficult and unsatisfactory to use. Has anyone here in CA used it recently?
Thank heavens for air conditioning!!! It has been a hot trip home.

Barbie, I had looked all over for the Johnson's baby creamy oil too and never found any. A couple of months ago I was checking out at Ross and there were a few tubes with all the stuff along the check out line. I don't know if it comes in different scents but the one I got is cocoa & shea butter. I am just wondering if they quit making it or what's the deal that no one can find it.
We have scattered showers predicted for tomorrow and then rain starting Sunday and all next week. I decided to finish mowing the low part of the yard. I managed to get most of it without getting stuck.

for $18.65!
Supposedly, the one with Aloe and vitamin E is the one that repels mosquitoes.

Thanks everyone for the warm thoughts. One day at a time. If no improvement by monday I'm calling hospice even if Mel doesn't feel he is ready.
