Wet Sunday Here Also

Made it here to Islay, but it is raining all day here. When I made reservations, I discovered prices had doubled and tripled because this island is now part of what they call the "Whiskey Trail" meaning it has a lot of distilleries on a small (250 miles square) island. In fact, only 3,000 people and a lot of sheep, but only ways to earn a living are farming, fishing, or tourism. Anyway, every place I called was also full, but a couple of the people I emailed referred me to this B&B that was relatively new. I called the owner to tell her I would be late arriving, and she said she would not be home but to just come in and go to Room 3. OK. Got here and empty house--no other residents, either. So I parked, walked in the unlocked door, and went up to Room 3 where key was in lock--very strange to just walk into an empty house and make yourself at home.

But very nice, large room and very clean, plus absolutely gorgeous sea and countryside view. Only one farmhouse near here, but a lot of sheep. Will post photos later today. Had a good continental breakfast and lady offered to do a load of laundry for me.

So I am spending the day catching up on work, reorganizing my suitcases, and getting some work done. Will go out later and explore and maybe grab some cookies and some more kleenex because my cold had gone through almost all of my supply.

Sounds lovely and very relaxing Judy. The resort I stayed at in the U.P. Was like that too. I just arrived, parked in front of my unit, went in and unloaded everything. Didn’t have to check in or nothing. It’s the way the operated. Would leave the units unlocked for incoming guests.

Chilly morning but will see some sun today and warmer weather coming up. Friend coming up Tuesday to camp at State Park here and we are going to remodel cupboards in trailer. Hopefully weather will now cooperate so I can get some projects going in there.

O’Sharon, read your post yesterday and you and I are on the same wave length as far as doing stuff. Have you tried giving your older dog some glucosamine? Drs. Foster and Smith makes one called Joint Care and it’s great stuff. Used it on my one dog who had a deteriorating disc in her spine and it really helped her.

Good morning
Its that time of year the ac almost runs nonstop. A little rain would be nice.
Four days of work then im off for a week or two, not sure yet. Its too bad they
(county) closed the forests where i could go camp out just to cool off. I could go farther but thats more gas than my budget allows and at 2.99 a gal,,,i guess that money will go on the electric bill.
Ya'll have a great day, be safe.

Good morning!
JudyB, thanks for keeping us up on your adventure 'across the pond'. Sounds like you've got a prime spot for relaxing & enjoying a little break. Very interesting & reasurring (that there are places in the world) where you can leave a key in the door for expected visitors to use.
Ava, bummer that it's already so hot & the closer camping areas are closed. Gas out here is closer to 3.50 - glad I belong to Sam's club - 'only' 3.35 there.

Well, the HOA moved quickly on approving to take the tree down outside my fence. They'll also remove the roots under my outside area so the entire area can be graded away from the building. I'm appreciative that they're covering all of this! I know how expensive it can be. Once the patio area is regraded, I'll decide if I keep the large shed out there or get rid of it & build a deck so I have an elevated area where I can sit & see over the fence. :) I DO love where I'm located, with the trees & the creek, hearing the birds & even seeing a crane in the creek once in a while. And the best part is I don't have to maintain any of it! :D

Going to straighten things up a bit around here & then maybe take Sadie to one of the regional parks.
Hope today brings joy to each of you. Stay safe.
Catherine

My sister and I went up to the lake Thursday. We have a camper trailer at one of the permanent campgrounds. I hadn't been up there in over a year and the trailer was growing moss. I got most of it clean except the very top I couldn't reach without a ladder. I am always seeing people post about how great Awesome is from the Dollar Store. I happened to also have a bottle of Super Clean and it is way better than Awesome.

The fishing was the best it has been for us in a long time until the wind picked up. That lake is so big that the wind can really make it rough. We ran out of worms so came home yesterday. I don't know if I picked up a bug from my sister or it's allergies. I started coughing last night and my head was stopped up. I would probably have had a better night if I had gotten up and found something to take.

Martha, I hope you feel better soon. Catherine, glad you are getting your tree situation taken care of. Nice that they are on top of it so quickly! I will have to come up and see your place sometime. It sounds very nice!

May Gray here again today. Feels a bit humid out too. Didn't get much accomplished yesterday. Had my two raccoon visitors stop by last night so put out some leftover dog food for them. They ate it and left. I feel bad for them since they are both lame. One has a bad front foot and the other has a bad back foot.

Off to work in awhile here. Have a good day!
