Morning. Much needed rain came in the wee hours of the morning. Chilly and damp is the forecast for today. Fine by me as we need the moisture. Not so nice for my neighbor who is supposed to have an underground dog fence installed today. As for me, I am going to Farmers Market and also run coupe errands. Was in Camping World yesterday and left a little green there. Wanted this little Coleman Grill and Go BBQ grill and got the last one they had on sale. And cheaper than it was when it was on sale earlier this spring Also found a book with some yummy Pie Iron recipes. Going to try different types of cooking methods this summer just for fun.

Tina, hope you got your wish and were able to leave early like you wanted. Good luck with Josef at the show. Annie, when are you leaving for Yellowstone? Anybody been up since wee hour to watch the Royal Wedding? I’ll catch it later this evening.

Otherwise nothing new. Time to get ready to head to the market. Have a nice day.

Actually, it is a beautiful Royal Wedding Saturday. Sunny almost all over the UK and even warm in Windsor. However, I am at ferry docks to head to Islay, Scotland, but I missed 1 pm ferry which was booked anyway. Made reservation for next one at 6 pm. Heading to small town down the road to find a cafe.

I truly loved Scotland when I was there many years ago - Urquart Castle, near Drumnadorchit, The castle on the shores of mighty Loch Ness.

I think that it is the most beautiful place that I have ever visited. Hope you find it beautiful, too.

A bit late for morning coffee today but was up early and ended up watching a good part of the royal wedding! Bet you were glad you went to Windsor earlier, Judy! Was a bit crowded today! Sue, I picked up the pie iron recipe book when I was at Camping World a couple of weeks ago too! Now I just have to get a new pie iron, gave our old one to one of my kids quite awhile ago. But I am intrigued by the different ways of using it! Sandi, love what you did to your kitchen and bathroom.

My sweet daughter in law came and took me to go get the RV from the garage awhile ago. Was pleasantly surprised by the bill when I went by to pay it yesterday.....way less then I thought it would be! Besides the state inspection, they changed the oil and checked out the generator and just did a good check of all the mechanics. They found a crack in the oil assembly on the generator. He gave me the part number and info so I ordered it last night. I’ll either take it back to them or see if DS will put it on for me. Shouldn’t be much to replace it. Now all I need to do is dewinterize. Think this year I’ll do that myself! Not sure how this summer will go with the older dog. He isn’t moving around very well and getting in and out may be a problem. We’ll see, I guess.

Well, more puttering here in the house since it’s very wet outside. I worked in the yard a couple of days this week between rain storms but looking at the driveway today I wonder why I bothered! I’ve talked to several people from here and other areas and we all agree that this is a banner year for maple seeds and seedlings. Not sure why they’re so plentiful but I’ve never seen them like this before. Hope everyone has a great week end and you get to have some fun.

Sharon, I agree that it is wonderful when you get a bill for a repair that is less than you expected. Wish all mine were that way!!

I tried to post this earlier, but a week ago I was certain that I could not handle another trip to the UK. Remember that I had been driving in England and getting really stressed about it. This was a little strange because I rented a car about 10 years ago and drove for three weeks in Scotland. In fact, I told Tina how much I liked driving on the small roads, even the one-lane roads. But now I was clenching my teeth and really dreading having to go somewhere. Visualize taking your motorhome or trailer and truck and driving on a road where you barely fit and where there is absolutely NO shoulder. In fact, often there would be a stone wall maybe a foot or 18" away from the edge of the road, which is curvy and has hills, but these crazy drivers would come barrelling around a curve and slam on their brakes, and you would panic and have to back up or pull over to the point where you were almost scratching your vehicle. If you were lucky, you could slow down to maybe 10 MPH and pass slowly with maybe a foot between vehicles. If you were not lucky, one of you would have to back up to a place where it was wide enough to pass.

I have pretty much gotten used to driving on the left, although I have to think about it when pulling out of a side street or parking lot. Also, it gets tiring to have to keep driving around vehicles parked in the driving lane to load or unload or around bicyclists on the road. But this nearly always happens in town and people are driving very slowly.

Well, today, as I was driving through Scotland, my attitude has changed, and I really want to come back to Scotland! (have no idea how I will ever afford it. This trip is going to take a year of penny-pinching to pay Visa.) It was a gorgeous drive today, through mountains and along several lochs, and I felt a lot more relaxed. The roads are still narrow, but the difference is that there is less traffic, and you can see long distances, and no one is going to come racing around a corner to scare you. Also, there seems to be fewer people out on the road. Scotland is a lot less populated than England, or at least seems to be where I have been driving there.

I love London, but I have to say I like Scotland more than I do England.

Judy, that area is so beautiful, green and lush! Would love driving thru that countryside! (except for the narrow roads! ).

Sun is finally coming out now this afternoon. Have the day off and slept in til noon. Need to start on a project as soon as my lunch settles.

The same thing happened to me in Ireland. It used to be I would fly into Shannon, rent a car and drive out to County Mayo to visit my friends. Last time I went in 2006 I took my niece with me and traffic was a total nightmare. There were big tourist buses everywhere and the roads were just as you described. We were both exhausted by the end of the day as were most of the other tourists we encountered. Oh, and every few miles there were huge signs telling you to drive carefully and how many hundreds of people who had been killed that year! Glad you are enjoying Scotland.
