Good morning all... I'm not been around for a while have a hard time figuring out how to post pictures I do better at posting what's going on in my life if I had pictures maybe.... anyway I have been busy getting back to business of sorting totes and finding homes for everything ....and home is not going so well I don't have enough room ...also I am now sorting and pricing to take stuff to flea market on the 3rd of March... so this afternoon I am taking a break and sewing a small patch quilt for a
seat in the RT...the passenger seat Pheebe grab the one that belongs there for her own... let's hope she leaves this one alone... these are little five and a half inch blocks and they are called Crumb Quilt Blocks...
Nan came over to help me put my new antenna up.... for the TV I bought at Walmart couple of days ago.... antenna was ordered from Amazon ... I better say Nan came over so I could help her put together and put up my new antenna... I am not good at reading directions for that sort of thing and she is... so anyway in Citrus County Florida is very hard to get over-the-air channels mostly anybody who's tried only get one or two ....well after much playing around and trying to set it up here and they're... outside on top of ladders whatever... we finally laid it across the table in the screen room and got 6 channels... so that's where it is right now I hope to be able to tweak it and put it outside somewhere on the roof... or the side of the house ...or on a PVC pole maybe... I don't... know just have to play with it and find out where is best spot ...but I'm happy that I got 6 channels.... and I'm happy and thankful that Nan was able do this for me... thank you Nan...

Donna: Love reading your posts, whether or not they have a photo to go along with them. Please continue to post! :D

I don't have a tv antenna on my house, have not had one for the past seven years. I stream all of my television watching. In addition to the usual networks (which can be had for streaming for a fee - not worth it to me) there are - literally - hundreds of free channels available, from full-length documentaries, to ballets, to niche interest programs (for whatever niche interest one might have). Niche? Like sewing, collecting, crafting (for me, it is jewelry making), old television programs, Netflix, PBS, free Amazon Prime movies, politics, weather - just about anything and everything one might be interested in.

I use a Roku box for my streaming (the box can be purchased, a one-time purchase) for around $40.00 for the basic unit. I have the unit that is capable of 4k, it cost around $80. I have been watching tv in this way - exclusively - for the last six years.

The Roku is plug-and-play: no intricate, detailed, set-up required. Plug it into the wall and to your tv, and you are good to go. All that is needed is a strong broadband connection, with a wireless router. The Roku connects to the internet wirelessly. No up-and-down on ladders, no crawling around on the roof, crystal-clear picture and sound.

I am a person that likes tv (perhaps partly my Dad worked in the television industry for most of his working life - he was a technician, not a performer. ). *LOVE LOVE LOVE* my Roku.

Check it out:

The Roku can be purchased at most big-box stores. I got mine at Sam's Club.

Any questions, please ask. :-)

When they changed TV to digital they sure made it hard for people that don't understand how to hook it up. For years I had 2 boys that did all of that but when they left home I had to learn how to do it and I still don't know. My husband didn't know anything about it and if he pushed the wrong button on a remote he couldn't get it fixed. The over the air antenna in my motorhome never did work very well and now it doesn't work at all. I got one of those flat digital antennas that I just hang in a window if I'm close enough to a town that has a TV station. I like to be able to see local weather. If I go too long between trips it takes a while to get the right wires connected and buttons pushed.

We were suppose to have a lot of rain today but it's hanging out just North of here. It can just keep moving on.

Good morning gals. Was just sitting here going thru email and something on the outside porch caught my eye. It was a bunny! Came right up to the door and then hopped away! So cute!

Emily (aka: Emmy) is doing very well. Feeling better now and much more active. She is busy but not getting into trouble at all. Lola is still not liking her too much but last night they were withing 3 feet of each other without any hissing or growling which is great progress.

Sunny and still chilly here. Doesn't look so windy today tho. Definitely jacket weather tho. My floors are cold. I have to wear socks or slippers all the time. Even Emily's little foot pads are cold when I pick her up. I am thinking it will feel nice in the summer tho.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday :D

Donna, can you put a small storage shed on your lot? I have one here and that is where all my storage unit stuff is going this week. We are allowed to have a storage shed as long as it matches the house.

Had our first visit from Hospice yesterday for paperwork and assessment. Amazed at all the services but think I may have discovered the key in why some feel it's great and others have less than optimal experience. Nurse told me the UCD hospice is a 35 year old Non profit and our insurance covers 100% and the for profit hospices don't have near as many services due to cost. We will have a case manager nurse we will see at least every two weeks. A social worker who will help with my planning and him. A nurses aid up to 8 hours at least twice a week, to help him with shower and give back rubs and massage as well as make bed and small chores for me. Another non trained person who can simply sit and talk with Mel so I get a break. A lift team is available if needed such as if he falls. More I'm sure I have forgotten. Equipment such as a light weight transfer chair will arrive tomorrow plus a drug package for future use when it gets bad. I'm pleased so far they are making this easier. They even have a list of all funeral homes with address phone and estimated prices. So much to think about. She said we don't have to go to Dr Wednesday but Mel wants to if he is up to it. He is feeling better and better off chemo. Not sure how long feeling better will last. Mel seems to think he wants to go camping for a few days. Not sure about that but I will see about making it happen.

I was checking the web sites for the hospice companies and as near as I can tell a patient has to be referred by a doctor and be determined to have less than 6 months to live. I'm going to ask at the nursing home to see if that is true. I checked the reviews and it seems it's the employees that have more complaints than patients.

Martha, in Illinois where my mom was, a doctor would refer and yes, there the assessment had to be less than six months. My Mom was on hospice about 3 1/2 years. Every 6 month assessment said she had less than 6 months.

I believe hers was non-profit... There was no cost, I do remember that.

And Martha, often families praise hospice while having nothing much good to say about the nursing homes. That's what I saw most often. I was lucky that our hospice nurse made sure to get along with mom's nurses and aids... Taught them some things.

I don't remember needing to get a referral for my mother, hospice does vary by area and by the organization that provides it. I had gone to counseling with the Alzheimer's Association, and they gave me the number to call for my mother's memory care unit area. I called them and they came over to do an intake and that was it.

I originally had hesitated because I thought a doctor had to sign off that she had only six months to live, but the hospice ladies told me that was not a concern and if she lived longer, they would extend it.

Glad you are getting so many services, Velda. You really will need those breaks.

Velda, I hope you two can go camping. That would be a nice thing for both of you and a great memory later.

I took my mom one last time on a trip up to the North Shore of Minnesota where she always loved to go to. I knew it would be her last trip so I made sure we did everything she wanted to do, what ever she wanted to eat, where ever she wanted to shop, etc. I used my credit card to pay for it all with no limits and no regrets. I still remember that trip fondly. We both had a wonderful time even tho she was struggling with dementia and serious diabetic issues. It was so worth it!

My brother and I tried to get her to his cabin in Wisconsin one more time shortly after that, but the day before we planned to go, her blood sugar levels crashed twice that day prompting a 911 call, so we decided it was too risky. She was very disappointed but we were afraid it could happen at the cabin and we would be almost an hour from a decent hospital. It is always a tough decision to weigh the risks.
