Gmorning all!

Thanks to those of you who helped getting me connected with the Adirondack crew...I'll be driving up to visit with them this morning:) We decided it would be a good time to gtg since can't do much this a.m.--rain/thunderstorms going through!

Grueling week of fence work, but we have 11 posts in the ground! ROCKS! Yesterday, one the size of a basketball! We knew we had rocky soil, but that was more than we'd expected. The benefit is that I have a good collection of mostly baseball-to-football size rocks to edge my flower beds:) Will do something special with the "basketball" one--inscribe it to commemorate our work

So much going on with y'all, seems everyone is doing well. Cheryl, your wait is almost over! Barbie too:) So exciting to be on to new adventures. Donna, been there, done that, right? Good morning carolb... sounds good a GTG.. we are leaving Manatee hammock this morning there's going there's going to be a launch at 2.... I was thinking of hanging around up here for it but it's too hot if I could stay at the campground till later this afternoon I would but just to go into one of the Park's it's just way too hot.. we had a great time here thankfully we were able to use the clubhouse and it was empty most of the time we painted rocks in there and then we also used it for Ancestry.com Margie was showing me the ins and outs and she had started one leg of my family tree so I'm going to join here at some time and will continue on it is great I love doing it... we've been in the pool everyday I had my first Krystal's hamburger... we went to IHOP to and we went to Cracker Barrel for my birthday lunch yesterday... then we had ice cream and cake for our happy hour last night... we also did some looking around trying to find me a possible home retirement place but we didn't find any this time and we had a really good time all for me..B safe...donna...

Good morning from N. Central CA. We have been in a triple digit heat wave for a week+. My house has been comfy using mostly ceiling fans and AC just a few hours each day. Will be nice to get back to cooler temps expected soon!

Good morning gals!

Got more sorting and organizing to do today. Then work this afternoon/evening.

I checked the forecast for late next week for both here and in South Dakota and luckily it looks like 70's and no rain both here and out there. So will be comfortable for both packing, driving and camping!

Getting nervous about making sure everything is done in time and I don't forget to do anything!

Picked up my screens yesterday. They look nice and will keep Lola from clawing her way out the windows!

Yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of my mom's passing. Sure do miss her! She would love this road trip, especially the Black Hills. I am sure she will be riding shotgun with me tho!

Nice day here today with sunshine and cooler temps in the 70's. Tomorrow will be cloudy and upper 60's.

took one step out and turned back with muddy
feet and didn't take care of priorities' Quick
work grabbing her as she was making a beeline
for the bed. She finally decided she would chance
it when the neighbors guines were out in the
drive squakin and cacklin up a storm. If you
know guines, you know what I'm talkin about.
Coffee is ready, orange cinnamon rolls fresh
out of the oven, yummm. Will have to text
my friend to come out.
Not sure what else I have planned for today, it
it wasn't for the rain I'd get the little John deere
out and help with some mowing around the immediate
area. Don't want any rattlesnake surprises.
well I better get busy, the horses are getting fed and dogs
are all barking. Fond memories of days living on the farm.

Good Morning, It is raining or more liker heavy misting here. Toby, like Maggie, did not want to go out in it. He woke me at 3:00AM, I got dressed, his harness on and he took one step out and wanted to go back in. I'm like oh no you are not!!! You woke me up, your going out. It was a bit of a battle but he finally realized I wasn't giving up and nature wasn't going to be stopped, so he complied!! I slept in until 6:30 and DH was starting the coffee ACK!!! he never makes coffee as he usually sleeps later. When I asked how many scoops he used he said oh 3 maybe 4... I could see as it had just started he had only added about half the amount of water. All you other serious coffee addicts know how I was feeling at that point. I walked the dogs and calmed down, then made a fresh pot, I'm feeling really virtuous right now.

I read a post on FB yesterday in Women Who RV about a woman's whose rig broke down in the middle of an intersection, the temp was 129 degrees. It is a wonder she didn't die waiting for help. I can't help but wonder why she would have been traveling, especially during the day, in that kind of heat.

Carolb glad you are having a break from the rock digging.

Yesterday was last day with son and his family. His wife and I were both suffering with the heat at Zion--106 degrees. Whew! I came back early and tried to relax in motorhome, but it was only slightly better in there--91 degrees. Took a cold shower, except water was warm, and kept wet washcloth on me, which really helped.

Anyway, I am headed east into the mountains of Colorado where it will be 8,000 to 9,300 feet and much cooler for next three weeks. This heat wave has been horrible. Even Grand Canyon was in 90s this past week. Had a good time with my grandkids, however. They each had one night with me at GC, but I was happy to stay alone at Zion. Oldest one really likes history and middle one wants a book on Kokopelli because of the shirt I bought her has a picture of him on it. Youngest is only 7 and just leaving 1st grade, but she can read almost anything, including all the national park interpretive signs in the museums. Don't know what I'll get her yet for a book, but I am guessing she reads at least as well as 4th grader brother.

Long drive of 380 miles today, but I decided to push it because I want to get into Colorado. Got 160 miles to go after this rest stop where I am taking a break. One advantage of motorhome is I can run AC with generator. Hope that lady had a motorhome with generator instead of trailer. Or if she had a truck to pull trailer, maybe she sat in it with AC on. Dangerous to break down in this weather.

It has been near 110 all week here at my house. Yesterday it was 111. Add to that, I am a person that is "heat sensitive". I was having a conversation with my sister on the telephone the other day. Where she lives it is cooler than where I am; 85 - 90 are generally top temps in her area. Some 20 or 25 degrees cooler than where I am. She is a person who has never traveled, and has never owned a pet. When I travel, I travel with my dog. She has her own - very strong - opinions on things, and although I care about her she sometimes (ok, often) totally rubs me the wrong way.

I was having a conversation with her the other day and she asked me if I was going to go visit a friend near the coast. I said "No, too hot". She replied something to the effect that it would be cooler at the coast. I replied again "Too hot", then added, somewhat jokingly I will admit (but true enough), that if my car broke down or if I had a flat tire on the way there, I would be at serious risk of death, and that I preferred not dying.

She replied, indignantly, "Well, I didn't know you would be driving Desolation Road!". This instantly angered me. Although I would (had I gone) be driving mostly freeway (and some rural roads) even in the best circumstances in a breakdown it's going to be 30 - 40 minutes before AAA arrives to help. In the worst of circumstances (no cell service, for example) I (and my dog) would need to depend upon the kindness of strangers - someone stopping to help. In either situation, with 111 temps, I would be S.O.L. Literally, death a possibility. For me and my dog both.

I ended the call at her Desolation Road statement (Oh, there is someone at the door! Bye!), without further explanation (explaining one's point of view is pointless with her, and generally just escalates the argument further). In any case, how to explain "too hot" if a person doesn't understand the implications of this in the first place?

I was angry about this most of the day. Still am, a little.

Reading here that both of you ladies agreed with my opinion - too hot, therefore dangerous to travel - put a smile on my face, and joy back in my day.

It looks like this is going to be my year. The refrigerator went out last night. If it's not one thing it's 10 others. The dog had a vet appointment this morning so I took him to the vet and went shopping for a refrigerator. You can buy stainless steel refrigerators everywhere but our appliances are white. To order the refrigerator I want would take a month. The local GE dealer would order me one and lend us a refrigerator so I went with him. I could have saved some money at Lowe's but a month without a refrigerator would not be fun.

At least we didn't have any damage from Cindy. We only got about 2 inches of rain. There was coastal flooding South of us but they are use to that. Now they say a cold front is coming with more rain. A cold front this time of year is a joke. It will be 85 instead of 95.

I agree that you have to be careful when the temperatures are high. I broke down just out of Dallas years ago and it was 110. I had my mother and my boys with me. That was not fun and could have been dangerous. Why put your pets and your life in danger.

Our neighbors have a pen of Guines. They make good watch dogs. There is a certain distance that when you get that close to them they start squawking or what ever they do.
