Good Morning from cloudy Lancaster county. Some light rain moving through, but nothing here at the moment. Then supposed to stay cloudy most of day. I'm off on a two hour bus tour of the Amish country back roads, compliments of the campground here. They do this for their guests of all their establishments, the two motels, and the campground. The Smucker family also owns the Bird in Hand restaurant and theatre complex. I also have a 20% off coupon at same restaurant. Smorgasboard. It's easier to see things when somebody else is driving, plus knows the roads. Yesteday I took a ride over to Bird in Hand and then over to Intercourse. Found a great Amish meat and cheese shop. Was thinking of going on an Amish buggy ride tour, but will depend on weather. Tomorrow looks like thunderstorms most of day, so will probably do my laundry etc.
Barbie, congrats on the sale of your jeep. And getting new tires to boot. Ava, have fun on your journey. Have a nice day all.

Gmorning Sue & all to follow:)
Sue, no reason not to accept a free bus tour! Hope you get a chance for a buggy ride--that would be so cool!
Alice, happy travels on your first real road trip with old lady:)
Nice rain overnight & this morning--the severe storms petered out before getting here. Supposed to stop by noon, so Bro will be bringing his tractor over. Fence work starts Tuesday, but "big boys & their toys," I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to start drilling some holes today;) Wouldn't hurt my feelings!
Heard that for tick protection, the most important place to spray repellent is shoes & socks. Contrary to "popular belief," ticks are lurking in the grass, not falling out of trees? So with that in mind, hanging out at campgrounds where there are ticks, I wear shorts & flip-flops so I can see if they're crawling on me
Ok, y'all have a great day & safe travels always

Good Morning to All - we are still in the Moab area of Utah. So pretty here and lots to do. And the wind finally let up. But temps are going up daily, 100 by the weekend. Alice I hope you are headed to a cooler area - saw temps for Phoenix are predicted to hit 120!!!
Glad we're not home, Vegas will be 115.
Glad you got your Jeep taken care of Barbie - things seem to be going good for you.
We will be staying in different areas of Utah for the next two weeks.
Stay safe traveling all of you on the roads.

The first time I saw Lancaster County, my son was six. We did a lot of wandering on the back roads. I think the highlight of that trip was when we passed a group of Amish schoolchildren walking home. Elliott had been leaning out of the window to see everything, and when he waved at them, they waved back. He pulled his head back in, smiled at me, and said in a really thrilled voice, "Mom, they waved to me!"

Good Morning, Trying to stay cool here, had a break yesterday but temps are going back up. Wonder what altitude you have to get to for it to be cool, no ticks and still be enough air?!! Carolb, ticks do drop from trees, I've had 3 on my head so far but now wear a hat when I go out. Friends were talking under a tree after yoga last week looking at an article and a tick fell on the paper!
Ava so glad to hear you are out of the heat and starting on your journey!! Barbie so happy you sold the jeep and will be getting new tires !! You should be good to go! I bet you are ready. Loved the picture of you and your beautiful daughter. So wonderful that you have been able to have contact over the years and form a relationship.
Belated Happy Birthday Sue, sounds as though you are enjoying your trip except for the hear.
I'm so glad I had someone to go to with my questions about my, yet un-named, RV. I don't know why I was so hesitant about starting the generator. We ran it for about an hour with the air on and I thought it should have been cooler so will take in to have coolant checked.I'm thinking of calling it Arvie but then it sounds like I'm just saying RV.
Enjoy your day!

I am at 7,000 feet at the south rim of the Grand Canyon, and it is not bad here, although it is supposed to get up to 88 today. I have not seen any mosquitos or ticks, so far. (Barbie, you might want to check your cat for ticks since they can hide in her thick fur.) I dread heading to Zion on Wednesday because it is going to be 108!!! Debbie (Cookiemom) helped me make some adjustments to my schedule to avoid the western heat wave they are expecting next week. Mostly I was planning to stay in western Colorado at high elevations for most of the summer.
Took a really nice bike ride along the rim yesterday and posted a lot of photos about the bike trails (love them) here in Grand Canyon. Check it out and bring your bike next time.

Summer has arrived here, it's 95. My son goes through about 2 suits of clothes a day working outside.
When I went to New Jersey my son brought me to a flea market type place that had Amish stores. There was a store that sold mostly bakery type things, cakes, cookies and bread. I have never seen so many different things in one store. I'm glad there isn't something like that near me. There was a furniture store that had beautiful things but very expensive.
We are lucky to not have ticks. The fleas are a different story. We have been battling the fleas for 2 months. Poor Annie has scratched until her ears are bleeding. She can't have anymore allergy shots. It says cats can take benadryl so I'm going to try to find some of the tablets. I think I could get a pill down her better than the liquid.

BJ, that is what Carol and Bill named their latest rv - Arvie. Makes sense. There are a couple threads on some FB sites right now where people are telling the names of their RVs. Fun to read!
