Less Windy Thurs

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Less Windy Thurs

Postby Colliemom » Thu Mar 09, 2017 7:31 am

Morning everyone,

After two days of winds gusting to 35 or more here and higher in other places, they are starting to calm down. Like Barbie said, hurricane force and relentless. Lots of damage around in some areas and just heard that Detroit has over 3,000 power lines down plus other damage from winds as high as 70 mph. So you gals out east had better batten the hatches down. I am hoping to be able to clean up some branches in m yard later today or at least make sure areas I still will need to snowblow are cleared of sticks and what not. Winter is not over here yet. Found a big limb down behind my trailer that fortunately didn't hit it. Probably wouldn't have done much, but could have broken one of my MaxAire vents. Enjoyed walking around my property a bit yesterday despite the cold wind, sizing up some spring projects, one of which is replacing some rotted fencing that has come down over a pipeline easement on my property or removing it altogether. Need to do some checking with pipeline company to see if that fence can stay or never should have been there to begin with. Was here before I bought the property.

But today's or this morning's chores are chiropractor appt. and some errands, then will take rest of day as it comes, hopefully outside for awhile. Dogs will want their walk.

Need to get cleaned up here and wash my hair, so will wish you a nice day and be off.

Good Morning to All. You continue to amaze me on how much you do around your home. Can a borrow just a little of your energy!
We are on the road heading towards home. Left Mazatlán yesterday, spent the night in a truck stop 240 miles north. Tonight we'll be in San Carlos in a campground for a while. Already missing Mazatlán and all our friends there.
Glad we only have to go to Vegas and not cross the Midwest to Indiana any more. Everyone in that area take care.

Good morning

I've been in the Ocala area since Sunday. Staying at campground where Irmi, Steve and Brenda are wintering. Will be here a little longer than usual as I am waiting for a service appointment at place Liz recommended.

Strong winds of past several days have calmed down now and weather near perfect - maybe a bit too warm during day and chilly at night. Allergies are slowly getting worse as it is spring time in FL.

Neighbor almost killed me Monday evening. He has a boat parked just outside my big dinning area window. I thought he was working on the motor. I noticed after about an hour that I was having an unusually hard time breathing, feeling a little sick to stomach and getting head ache. The smell of gas, lighter fluid and maybe propane was overwhelming. Put Nicky on leash and managed to walk up to club house where we sat on porch for about an hour. Smell was still strong when we returned to Magic but he was no longer working outside my window. Felt so bad went to bed early. When I saw the man on Tuesday I asked him to please let me know in advance if he was going to be using whatever chemicals again. Could not believe that wasn't what he was doing. He has a 2000 generator mounted on the boat carrier and he was running the generator with exhaust right in my window plus cooking on a charcoal grill that he started with a lot of lighter fluid. Except for lingering headache I was fine by mid day Tuesday.

Lyn joined us Tuesday. We had burgers at Steve and Irmi's that night. The campground has yoga for seniors 3 times week. Lyn Irmi and I attended the class Wed am. It was challenging class especially for those of us who are not in particularly good physical shape.

Lyn's kitty had health issue yesterday (lost use of right front leg) so I went with her to vet. Vet not sure if stroke or spinal cord injury. Cat got steroid shot and we are taking her back for recheck later today. Lyn and kitty could use some prayers and positive vibs today.
Others are off to kayak Silver River this am.,

Sue and Barbie, We had the same winds here too! I got up very early this morning hoping it was calmer so I could finally get the garbage cans out! Missed last week because of the wind so really needed to get them out! Heard them and managed to get them before they blew down the road! Wind is still blowing but not like they blew yesterday and last night! And like you Sue, I need to clean up branches off the driveway since tomorrow is supposed to be a snowy day. Looking like the next week is going to be more like January! Now they are saying 3" to 5" so may be a snowblower day! And I have a hair appointment tomorrow morning so it may be fun getting there. Luckily it isn't far so should be okay driving! I want spring to come and stay!

Sarah, glad you are feeling better! The guy must be an idiot! But sounds like you're having a good visit! Carol and Bill, have a good trip back home! Well, I need to get myself outside and get ready for the next few days of snow! And probably should do a walk around of the house to make sure everything is still intact! I saw a big strip of flashing hanging off the building next door's roof so need to make sure all is well here! Have a good day and travel safe!

Yes, the wind has settled way down here now. But now the cold air returns. Gonna get down to only 3* tonight! with a high tomorrow of barely 20*! Next week back into the 50's tho. Some snow this weekend but not much accumulation expected which is fine by me!

Speaking of fences, my dad has a split rail fence across the front yard that is all rotten. The rails keep breaking and falling off. I fixed two of them the other day and got them back up precariously but with the wind yesterday, another one broke and fell so will see if I can fix that one for now. I would like to get rid of it but my brother doesn't want another expense of getting it hauled away.

Off to work in a little bit here. So much to do around here but not feeling very motivated. Sue, can I borrow you for a few days??

Lyn, I hope your kitty gets better!!

Have a good one! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Afternoon,
Lyn I hope your kitty gets better. Sarah that man next to you must be nuts!! Good thing you left I would probably have gone over and ask if he was trying to kill me!

I got so tired of auto correct on my iPhone and on my computer I finally Googled how to turn it off! Really simple. On phone go to settings, then general scroll down to near bottom and click keyboard. You will see several choices with green sliders. Just off the one that says auto correct! I also turned of the Predictive. They are turned off when there is no green showing. On computer you might have to enter which operating system you are using to get the right answer. For me that was OS Sierra. So glad I found that, it was really annoying and sometimes embarrassing!!

We are supposed to get winter back on Sat. It is 72 and absolutely beautiful today. All the orchards are in bloom :(

I took Toby and Mitzi in and had them groomed last week. Toby looks so funny we call him Monkey Butt. They had to shave him to the skin all except for head, ears and tail. His legs are like toothpicks. He is getting a new coat to wear if I walk him until he grows out! He was so traumatized he still isn't eating well. I couldn't groom him while I was sick and he started really fighting me when I tried to work on his legs. They had to muzzle him for awhile but said he settled down. Mitzi did better, she had been in before. She looks cute, they didn't have to cut her very short.

It's a sunny day here in northern California with trees in bloom everywhere. It's a sea of pink and white, so pretty. This week we were at 113 days below 70, before today's 72! I hope we get more rain, I had forgotten how I love the rain.
Our news is Mels chest biopsy showed the same cancer as originally in palate, then lymph nodes in neck. Ths is a very tiny lymph node in the lining of his chest, NOT the lung itself. We were to see a lung cancer specialist today, but she reviewed the case and her nurse called yesterday and said she felt he wold be better with a medical oncologist since this is not actually involving his lung, even though it's in his chest cavity. So we have a day off from the trek to UCD hospital but had to stay here awaiting calls about changes to a couple of appointments. We are hopeful they are catching this even earlier than the neck, so maybe this will stop it. Don't know yet if it will be surgery again and or radiation, but guessing not chemo because this tumor tested as not sensitive to chemo in past. "Girding my loins" for another round of whatever comes. The good news is this is definitely not prostate cancer returning and that appears stable and gone with all tests negative. Glad for small favors as prostate cancer often goes everywhere when it takes off. Meanwhile, he has a esophagus stretching procedure next Friday and miscellaneous other appointments and son and I have dentist Monday. I should get a chauffeur cap to go with my nurse cap!
Have a good end of your week all. Sympathy and hugs to Lyn on her kitty crossing the rainbow Bridge.
