Mixed Bag Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mixed Bag Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Feb 24, 2017 8:16 am

Morning all,

Eggs, sausage or bacon and toast on breakfast menu here and I can also offer you a mixed bag of weather. About 5 inches of heavy wet snow, which is supposed to transition over to sleet and freezing rain. Might even be a thunderstorm thrown in as the system moves northeast. One of those south of this line, between this line and that line or north of that line deals. I have yet to see mom nature pay attention to that

Bit of a busy day here today. Shower and hair wash first thing, then load of wash. Have to valances I ordered supposed to be delivered today. Little book work to do and a meeting with financial advisor etc.

Where the heck is everybody out there? Haven't been very many posts of late. Ya'll so busy, got no time? Another FL GTG coming up. More fun to read about. Probably some trip planning going on to. Some of you are working too I know. Beth, glad to hear you are feeling better. Linda, you going back to SD this summer?

Better get a move on here. Never know when Fed Ex will arrive, course they can leave it at door. Have. A nice day everyone.

Good morning gals.

Snowstorm missed us and just went south of us so that is good. Just cold and windy here.

Found someone to remove the dock so hopefully that will happen in the next week or so.

Good news! Went to see my brother yesterday and he is doing much better! The swelling in his head is way down and he is more conscious and aware of his surroundings and they removed the breathing tube yesterday. He can talk some now and knows who everyone is that is in the room. I guess he has had pneumonia but that is better now too. He is asking about the accident but we are just telling him we don't really know yet what happened, which is sort of true. There are conflicting stories now so we will have to wait until the official report is done from the reconstruction, etc. A lot of it doesn't add up right now. He was putting out signs for the boat meet at the different intersections, so was stopping at each one to do that, so the report that he sped right thru this intersection doesn't sound right. However, that was why he didn't have his seatbelt on, because he was getting in and out of his car to put out the signs. So we will see what they finally determine based on the evidence.

Off to work soon, so hope you all have a good day!

Gmorning Sue, Barbie & all to follow:)

Yes, I've been very awol, hardly even reading! Barbie, so glad to hear there is news of your brother's improvement! And you're back to work already:) Sue, keeping busy as usual. Sick people recovering, also great news!

All those traveling to the Hillsborough gtg, wishing you safe & enjoyable journeys! Looks to be a big one with many new people. Sorry I'll miss it, but will enjoy it vicariously through pix, which will be many, I hope:) Speaking of gtgs, I like the idea of a northeast one. Of course that's my area, & I know many hang out up that way during the summer.

Managing to keep rather busy. Loving the mild weather, but looks like cold is on it's way in. Spring just around the corner, so any snow this time of year usually just blows through without much of a fuss:)

Wishing y'all a great day! 8-)

Good Morning! Barbie, Good news to hear that your brother is doing better and that you didn’t get hit with the storm. We took the brunt of it for you! We had about 10” of heavy wet snow dumped on us. You’re welcome. Hard to believe that it was 65 on Wednesday and I had windows open to air out the house and had rugs on the line. It’s 20* now with a feels like 5 wind chill. I probably won’t be going anywhere today because the driveway is drifted in. DH is clearing streets and alleys for the city so it will be later today if not tomorrow before I get out. I’m kind of like the shoemakers kids…last on the list. Hopefully the neighbor who has a bobcat will take pity on me and clear it off a little. It looks like I could get through the driveway but the pile that the plow left at the end doesn’t look passable and I refuse to take the chance even with the 4X4 because the Escape isn’t as high as the pick-up. I really don’t need to go anywhere but it just bugs me the heck out of me when I know I can’t leave.

Sue…you just plain make me tired with all you projects! Wish you could bottle some of that energy and ship it to me. I’ve been working on an afghan for a wedding gift. It’s a new pattern called a basket weave. It’s really heavy and is a “user” not one to drape over a couch and look at. I have to finish about 6 more inches and then start on the border. It’s off white, I always make neutral colors for gifts so it will go with any room. Plus I’m lazy and hate changing colors and having to weave in the ends! When I finish this I have yarn ready to make a baptismal blanket for the new granddaughter.

Well I best get busy and take the clothes out of the dryer and the clean dishes out of the dishwasher. Have a good day everyone.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good Morning, We are supposed to have one more day in the seventies! I haven't been out though to enjoy the warm weather as the flu bug really didn't want to leave me.
All the spring flowers are blooming and star magnolia trees are in bloom. I'm feeling much better finally so going for a drive around today to see them before it drops into the twenties either tonight or tomorrow night.
Pat I am the same way, if I can't get out that is when I really want to go out!
I'm taking Mitzi and Toby to a groomer next week. They may have to shave them both, it doesn't take long especially for Mitzi to mat to the skin. I was going to take them in the same day and DH said what were you thinking!!! So rescheduled for separate days. I took Mitzi to another place several months ago and they not only razor burned he stomach, they used a fragrance that had to wear off after me being very clear asking them not to use any scented products.
Take care and enjoy the day.

Good morning all. I can't believe it but it's already 70 here and just after 10:30 AM! Amazing for this time of year! But looks like tomorrow back to reality! They've changed the forecast several times over the last few days and now looks like no snow until maybe next week at this time. Rain tomorrow and Sunday back in the 30's so can't complain. My daffodils are up out front so hope they survive all this crazy weather. I'm glad I didn't prune plants back since it'll give them a little bit of insulation. Not sure what I want to do today but think I'll go for a drive somewhere! Just enjoy the day! Not that I don't have plenty to do around here! But it's not going anywhere, it'll be here when it gets cold and rainy!

Good to see your post this morning, Carolb! I've been thinking about a gtg for the NE too! Seems like there'll be some activity in our part of the country this summer. Barbie, good to hear your brother is getting better and you are back to work. Hang in there. Glad everyone that have been sick are starting to recover. Sue, sound like you were lucky with the weather! Pat, agree with you about not being to get out of your driveway even if you don't plan on going anywhere! The mess from the plows is usually what gets me too! Luckily my car is high enough to usually gets me out!

Ok, not much else here so better get a move on! Hope you all have a good day and if you are on the move, travel safe.

Nice and sunny here at Myakka today. I am looking forward to the GTG in Hillsborough, especially with such a big group.

Today, I am going to back up to dump my tanks and flush out the black one because I have not had an opportunity to do it yet. Sewer hookup in way in the back of this long site, and I wanted satellite, so I parked near the front. Plus the hookup is raised 6" off the ground, so I will have to get my snakes out. I was told that last year it rained so hard and this land is so low that they had to close the campground and even the whole state park because it was flooding. It was so bad that the sewage was coming up out of the hookups, so they reconstructed them all and raised them. A pain, but I understand their reasoning.

Then I need to replace my broken lower side light. Had a small boo-boo a while ago and hit a post coming around the corner. Badly scraped the trim on the left rear corner and pulled it loose, but at least I did not damage any body paint. Will wait until I get to Michigan to get it fixed, but have to have to replace the light at least.

I made it to Gulfport, MS. OMG the traffic was bad. There was a 20 mile traffic jam going through Baton Rouge with everyone just creeping. I could probably have made it farther but I had a headache so stopped early. Maybe I can get on the road early. Yea, right.

This computer is agrivating me to no end. Hope this posts.

Lyn, do you have reservations at Falling Waters state park? I didn't make any reservations, just hoping for the best. So far so good.

Good luck getting through Baton Rouge. I don't know what the hold up was other than just a lot of traffic.

I will try to PM you my phone number.

I too hate to be "trapped" at home, even if I have no place to go. I just want to know I could go if I wanted to.

It is very cold here today too. I only have a light jacket so I wear a sweater under it. No boots either other than hiking boots. Wasn't planning on moving back here so I got rid of all that.

Work has been busy. I have been getting some great tips. An $18 tip today on a $13 haircut! A couple $10 tips and a $15 tip yesterday. Everything helps! Wasn't working for almost a month plus airline tickets and travel/moving expenses.

I had a crazy lady in yesterday who asked for the most bizarre haircut. I told her it would not work with her hair but she insisted I do it anyways. She said I was wrong and she "knows" her hair better than I do. So I cut it the way she asked and it turned out just as I told her and she hated it. I documented the whole thing on paper last night and she came back today to get it "fixed" The stylist who was there this morning told her the same thing I told her and she ended up cutting her hair really short. Stylist had seen my documentation so knew what to expect when the lady came back. Just gotta cover your butt sometimes. Some customers are impossible.

Still got this stupid little tickle in my throat that gets me coughing yet. Very annoying! Getting tired of sucking on cough drops all day long!

Glad so many are going to the FL GTG! The more the merrier! Hope the weather is good for it!

Martha, I couldn't make it to Falling Waters, just got too tired, so am stopped in Blackwater River St Pk, in their overflow section for the night. That is by exit 45. I haven't figured where I will stop Sunday night? I am going to PM you my phone number. Lyn
