Tuesday, Jan. 24

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday, Jan. 24

Good Morning,

Where is everybody? Haven't been very many posts on here of late. Y'all too busy or just don't have anything doing to post about? We are heading to February, time to start thinking about warmer weather stuff before long. I know Donna started the thread about who was doing what for this year, but hey, I'm sure since then, there have been thoughts and new ideas creeping up. Some are hunting new rigs, some looking for new S&B's, some getting ready to sell and hit the road full time, so how's things going? MIckie, sorry that house didn't work out. Like Beth said, cleaning could be done, but the electrical system says another thing. Who knows what else might be wrong in there. Sounds like a bit of a money pit to get things straightened out. You will find something else.

Heading back to town later this morning. Working on possible new truck lease, depending on if I fall under the latest lease pull ahead that GM has in effect. If not, will just wait awhile. Need to take something back to Lowe's too. Otherwise not, much on agenda here today. Weather still damp and a little fog out there, but gotta look to see it. Have a nice day everyone.

Morning Sue!

Yeah, that house screamed dollar signs at me, definitely not what we want heading into retirement.

We got a lowball offer on our FL condo yesterday, we countered with a dect amount, we'll see what he does. Realtor told us there were four showings yesterday so fingers crossed something happens soon.

Not much doing here today, I feel weird, like my head is wrapped in cotton and very heavy, sure hope I'm not getting another cold. Maybe just a reaction to the weather, since it's going up and down like a yoyo.

Hope everyone is doing well and is happy and healthy.

Alice, are you having fun? I'm really enjoying thinking of you retired. Mickie, I'm glad you two passed on that house. Sparking switches are a bad sigh.

I have some library loans waiting for me, so that's my excitement for the day.

Have fun, everybody!

Not much going on here. We have another nice day in the 70's.

I need to go get my groceries for the weekend. I am going to a campout with the Belles up near Alexandria, LA. If I can get everything ready I am going to leave tomorrow. I have a college roommate that lives near the campground and I want to visit with her. The campground is on a lake so might do some fishing. It's suppose to rain tomorrow and turn cold. Hope it doesn't get too cold. Have to remember my firewood. I found some of the square marshmellows for Smores.

Martha, I saw a recipe for "S'moreos" this weekend. Twist open an oreo and put the melty marshmallow and chocolate inside. Too sweet for me now, but I'd have LOVED it when I was a kid.

I will have to get some Oreos and try this. The chocolate of the Oreo would be enough chocolate for me since I try not to eat it. When we have Oreos here I twist it open and eat the side with the filling and leave the the other side for my husband. He doesn't like the filling. I try not to buy the ones with the double stuff. That's too tempting for me.

 Too funny! I'm like Harold, I like the cookie part better than the stuffing. I'd twist the oreo apart, scrape out the filling, skip the marshmallow, and just add some melty chocolate, yum!

Good morning gals! (only 15 minutes left til noon!)

Gotta work later but have phone calls to make before then. I got online to change my UHaul reservation to a day earlier but couldn't pull up my info even tho i have a confirmation with them. I called the location I am supposed to pick it up from and they have nothing listed for me! Glad I called! The guy is calling UHaul for me to find out what is going on because he says he doesn't have the size there. ....just got a call back from him. He changed my reservation for me and says they will call me on the first to verify everything, including the location if he doesn't have a trailer there for me. You really have to double check everything now days!!
I decided to pick up the trailer on the 3rd so I can load it up and leave on the 4th instead of the 5th. I decided I don't want to drive the full 7 hours to my new home and will instead stop overnight in Yuma which is about half way. Just don't want to push myself if I don't have to. That way I will only be driving 3 1/2 hours on the 5th (thru the mountains, so maybe longer with the trailer in tow) and then have more time to unload that day without being too tired from driving.

Linda is coming up for a haircut on Friday and we will go do something fun after that for the day. My brother is in town this week so will see him too.

Found out my dad is in the hospital with pneumonia but is doing OK. My other brother is dealing with that. He says the lottery situation is way worse than he imagined and is very worried about that.

Hope everyone down south is doing OK after all those bad storms and those in California are not drowning either! I saw that Interstate #8 going from Yuma to San Diego was closed thru the mountain pass due to 4 inches of ice and 3 inches of snow on top of that on the highway there yesterday! Hopefully, the weather will be much better when I head thru there in a couple weeks!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie - had the same experience with U-Haul on our move in August, called a few days ahead to see about moving the date back one day, no record of our reservation. The guys managed to fix it, set us up with a different day and a slightly bigger truck, and saved us a few bucks... but what is the point of a reservation if it doesn't mean anything?

Been driving this morning. Headed to Jonathan Dickinson SP but now I am waiting in long line at Blue Beacon. RV is really dirty and loaded with ocean salt and sand so a wash is critical. One more stop before campground. Will be glad to be settled down.

Tomorrow I pick up a bunch of packages at my cousins. Also MUST replace toilet seals this week as really bad.

We have spent the morning listening to chain saw and chipper as our beautiful largest eucalyptus tree is being dismantled. A combination of a freaky bad wind with supersaturated soil from over 10 inches of rain in 20 days sent it toppling across our shared fence into neighbors yard. Fortunately no one injured and didn't hit either my house or theirs! Chilly day with partially cloudy blue sky. Always good to get more than one estimate. First estimate said $4000 for just our part of tree! This man, another certified arborist is doing our section for $500! The first guy said all our trees were bad and wanted to cut them all. Thus guy looked at me like I was nuts and said, our company is in business to save trees and said they all are fine, this was simply a freak accident, saving me thousands!
Mel has scan tomorrow and keeping prayers going that he is still cancer free!
So other than weather, we are all good here!

As a former hotel/motel gm, I highly recommend calling the local number to anyplace you reserve online through national numbers. And always if you use third parties, like Travelocity, et al. I could tell you horror stories. Most, luckily for me, were easily fixable. But some were disasters.
