Gmorning all & a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR

So good to see all the roll call posts yesterday! Somehow, I think I have an aversion to answering the "call" since I never seem to answer it  Irmi, glad you checked in:) Though I & others keep up with you via other means, I'm sure many are happy to know you're still out there.

I too was among the many that didn't realize all the "Rose" events are happening today, so I guess I'll get to watch a bit. A front row RV spot--what a way to enjoy it!

Congrats to those of you anticipating retirement! May you find--like so many of us have--that retirement makes one wonder when we ever had time for a job

Let the Hardee Lake gtg begin! Look forward to hear/reading all about it!

Y'all have a great day, be safe always, & always enjoy the moment! 8-)

Good morning ladies, yep, my last day of winter break
as I go back to work tomorrow. The good thing is,,,,,,
only 10 work days to go. I'm sure I won't have enough
fun money but I do have options for part time work.
Although I'd rather be lazy but I'm gonna need to pay
for gas along the way of my laziness. Looking forward
to many new adventures in the near future. Y'all enjoy
your Rose Bowl day. Be safe, be healthy and hope you
have good weather. I'm still waiting for warm weather,
its been too cold here for some odd reason, I want to
know where this cold weather came from.
My latest project putting my Superior rocks in a display
case.

I'll be driving today, so no TV. Got a whole list of places to stop to run errands on the way, but first will be a Blue Beacon RV wash!

Alice, incredible that you are almost to retirement. You could always get an occasional job driving a shuttle at one of the national parks, since you are already skilled in that, although not sure you want to do that--too much like your working job.

Got to run, but just wanted to say hello this morning.

Morning all! It's a dreary day here in Central Illinois, but I'm amusing myself with looking at campers and possible storage options for our stuff when we go. Fun!

Good morning! Another gloomy day here today and looks like several more in a row! But rain not snow so that'll be okay! Mother Nature took care of the last snow we had and melted off the bit here and there! So no shoveling needed!

I spent some time with both sons and families yesterday so was a good day! A good way to start the new year! Apparently their school district is the only one in the county with classes today. Wonder how many kids won't be there!

Mickie, was glad to see you post again, wondered how you've been. Good that you're getting your health problems back under control and hope you'll be able to realize your RV dreams soon! Keep us posted! Looking forward to hearing about the FL gtg! Sounds like a fun gtg! And Alice, amazing how quickly your retirement is coming up!

Nothing much on my agenda today. I finally made it to Lowes and got some new latches for a couple of my kitchen cupboards so may start that little project today. Otherwise I will probably catch some of the Rose Bowl Parade and maybe later some of the game. Just to see how PSU is doing! I can't do a whole game on tv! So have a great day and travel safe.

Good morning.
Looks like we are in for another wild weather week in north AL. Dense fog with temps heading toward 70 today accompanied by severe thunderstorms with potential for tornadoes tonight. By Friday lows in the teens and high not even getting up to freezing and snow for next weekend. Plants are totally confused.

An acupuncture appointment this afternoon and trip to Walmart if weather not too bad.

Looking forward to reports from the Hardee Lakes gtg

I forgot the Rose Parade was on this morning so missed all but about the last 20 minutes.

Our weather is messy. It was so foggy when I got up I couldn't see past the back fence. Then our electricity went off for a while. Now it's raining off and on and we are under a tornado watch. There is a line of storms just West of us and should be here in an hour. Harold keeps putting the TV on the weather channel and that aggravating alarm goes off every 5 minutes. He got on the tread mill and put the incline all the way up and got dizzy. If I hadn't been standing close enough to grab the emergency stop he would have fallen. He is doing good to walk on flat ground. I don't know why he thinks he can walk on the incline.

I made some blueberry scones this morning. They taste good but are more like biscuits than scones.

Mickie, good to see you posting again. Hope your move makes a big improvement in your health.

Good morning all,
Final day before back to the grind.
Just took the travelin' van for a good drive - that's all it usually takes to remind me why I have it. Just knowing you can go anywhere & be self-sufficient is good for the soul - my own little escape capsule. ;)
Good to hear from you Mickie. Sounds like you've made a wise decision.
Hope Laura & friends enjoyed the Rose Parade. Someday I'll have to get down there.
Ava/Alice, loved your rock collection.
Carolb, it's odd hearing from you from home in the wintertime but glad you gave yourself a little break. Enjoy & rejuvenate a little.

ok, it's time to vacuum - then off to son's house to see my little princess. I'm told she stayed up until nearly 2 am New Year's morning! partying with the best of them.

Be safe & happy,
Catherine

After staying up later than I should watching tv with our son, my phone rang at 06:30 with, Mom, the pre parade show is on! Ugh! But I did get up and we watched. He found a tv station online in Pasadena, which showed the entire pre and parade with no commercials. That was refreshing to actually see it all instead of what the network want to show you. Last time we watched major network, they skipped all the equestrian units and some were units based close to us and we were disappointed. Anyhow, I took a nap, after and am ready to face the tree dismantling as husbands to complain about falling needles, and having to water it!
Hope this new year holds no negative surprises when he has check scans and maybe we can work towards taking the van out a time or two.
I'm so glad I joined this group as I so enjoy your travels and tales.
Velda

I just deleted the thread about my problem. There are two women here I want to invite to the forum, but don't want to possibly cause trouble or drama. Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

So looking forward to Thursday and visiting the Desert Museum with Karen and Sandi. There's still a chance Barbie will make it, too. Now let's hope we get some sunshine.

I missed the Rose Parade due to work but my roommate taped it so I will watch it tomorrow.

Another crazy busy day today and of course only two of us scheduled for the first shift. We had almost a 2 hour wait at one point! The GM gets upset because payroll is too high, so they cut the hours way back (during the holidays, no less! ), so now they are complaining that the wait times for customers are too long!
We are having a haircut sale starting on Thursday, so we have been instructed to tell all our customers about it beforehand...after we cut their hair for full price. What is the point of that other than to make them mad? "Ha ha! You just paid full price for a haircut that will be half price in two days! Ha ha!" Not like they will come back and get another one that soon! Makes no sense at all! I would not be happy to hear that.

Also got a young girl in today with lice. Saw a few little critters crawling around in her hair. Told her mom and sent them out the door in a hurry!

At least I have been making good tips! Got two $10 tips today and the rest were mostly $5, so that helps!

Got Thursday off, so will be joining Beth, Sandy and Karen in Tucson! I have another friend in Sedona for a few weeks so may end up going up there for a day or two to visit with her, altho she will also be in Q later in January. My brother will also be in town sometime this month. Lots of get togethers here before I move!

Time to get ready for bed!

Barbie, it makes you wonder how some people get to be in charge of anything. What good will it do to make your customers mad telling them they will miss a sale?
