And darn cold Thursday

Gmorning all :)

So the "darn cold" has moved into central NY. Forgot how cold it can get, but being retired & not having to go out makes a world of difference:)

Nice to hear about those of you currently traveling, & many getting ready for upcoming gtgs in AZ & FL after the first of the year. CArol & all others feeling the "blue" side of the holidays, I do hope you'll find a way to make new, happy memories this season. Memories of past, "traditional" holiday celebrations can often interfere, sometimes clouding what we have at this point in our lives. Oops, a bit philosophical?

Nothing going on here, really. Just hunkering down for the next few sub-freezing days, still enjoying my nesting:)

So y'all have a great day, be safe wherever you are 8-)

Mornin' Carol, Donna & all that follow ~~~
Yep still darn cold in Chitown again his morning. The outside temp showing on Colt never went never went above 0* (yes that's a zero) on the 40 minute ride to work this morning.

Had some excitement at work. One of the ladies I know upstairs called me & told me a car was on fire right near Colt (I apologized later for hanging up on her :? ). We have a lot of construction going on getting ready for our 100th anniversary next year, so I was parked in a row with only 3 other vehicles. Guess what happened was the guy just picked up brand new car an hour before and it wasn't running right. Pulled into the lot, not knowing the car was on fire, and parked closed to other vehicles. Opened to see what was wrong and POOF! Luckily the guy is OK. His car completely toast and a contractor was parked next to it and the entire side of his car was melted. All the excitement gave one of my bosses and excuse to skip my project meeting because the contractor's car was one of his network security people. Colt was A-OK, didn't even smell like smoke even though at time I couldn't see the truck because of the smoke.

Well, that's enough excitement from my neck of the world. Hope everyone if OK, warm & safe wherever you are.

Fires and vehicles...not a good combination. Glad that no one was actually driving at the time and, of course, glad that Colt didn't get melted. No melting going on here. Morning temps are 2 degrees with a the wind chill -5. My hands said to wait until after the eye appointment to try to hook up the Honda. The joints are aching just thinking about it but hey it will warm up by noon, right? Maybe at least 10 degrees by then! Hope to be tucked in to Escapee's Raccoon Valley RV park near Knoxville by tonight. If I can still drive with frost bitten fingers.....after hooking up the car......

Good Morning to All - guess I'm very glad we are not in the northern, mid US. I'll have to check the weather in Indiana where we used to live...brrr...Yesterday the temps here in Mexico were great and will be all week - low to mid 80's. BUT the humidity has come back. Last night it was at least 200% well not really but it was pretty darn high. UGH. in IN they used to call it muggly.
I'm still working on blogs about our day Tuesday when we took a trip to three little Mexican towns inland and up in the hills. Funny but it is a lot hotter up there.
We got all our new upholstered cushions back. So done with that. The only project left is for Bill to finish building some perches for the birds to sit on when they eat from our bread/fruit tree.
No plans today except to pick up rest of laundry.
Met these girls in Concordia - all I could understand was "selfie" and "facebook" so I guess somewhere this picture is on facebook too.

Keep warm and travel safe.

Good Morning ladies,

Well, all i can say is, those of you in NY and PA who have the "darn cold" air right now, count your blessings. We are in the second day of a lake effect Winter storm which has caused whiteouts, schools closings, accidents and what not since yesterday morning and shows no sign of abating till maybe this evening. Visibility here has been around 0 to .8 mile and once was 1.5, but for the majority of the time it's zero to .3 miles. Needless to say, they are suggesting to people that they not go on the roads unless necessary. Feeling sorry for those who have to go to work. I think we have picked up close to a foot of snow so far and more will fall today. Once it starts to settle down out there, then I can get my blowers our and get to work. I cancelled my mammogram yesterday and they happened to have an opening for tomorrow afternoon, so will try again for that. Looks like a quiet day tomorrow but another storm coming in late Friday and into Saturday. They are watching it to see what it's going to do and looks like a significant snow maker for up here again.
Don't have to mention that schools are closed all over up here. Not to mention the wind chills. The pups are going to be climbing the walls by this afternoon, although they do go out and play around for a while.

Tina, hope you can get yourself on the road and don't freeze your fingers. Our temps are supposed to go up into the 20's to low 30's tomorrow, so maybe it might be a little warmer for you if you can't get off today. But watch that storm that's coming across.

I too am enjoying reading about the adventures of those who are traveling and enjoying the pictures. Guess today will be a put the stuff back in the painted spare bedroom closet and maybe unpack my boxes of craft stuff in the basement now that the cupboard is painted and dry. Set up my workshop yesterday, but still have to work on some insulating issues along the block walls above where the finished part of the basement wall ends. Should have been taken all the way to the top of the block wall, but stops about 6 inches short. Don't know why it wasn't carried all the way. Oh well. A puzzle to solve.

Time to get moving here. Took a shower last night, so want to wash hair this morning, then get into something. Have a good day all, tarvel safe, stay warm and so forth :)

Sorry, but it is nice and warm here, if a bit muggy. I am headed out today to Myakka and will stop by and see Liz and whoever else might be there today. I need to drop my bike off for repair on my way, so have lots to do. At least I don't need to get any groceries.

And yes, they did fix my computer. At least I think they fixed it. Time will tell. I had to backup and then restore all of my data including thousands and thousands of photos, but that is now done. Still have two software programs to reinstall, but at least I've got my security and anti-virus stuff working.

Also, if you are interested, I just posted on my blog and have a really neat video of an otter munching on either a snake or a lizard of some sort. And I would like it if someone could identify a brown heron-like bird. I think it is a juvenile of some sort but cannot find it in any of the bird books, including Sibley.

Nice and warm weather in Tucson today. But temps headed down tomorrow.... Low 70's tomorrow. Might only be in the 50's Saturday before heading back into 60's for highs. Desert nights are cold, but I like that... Perfect sleeping weather.

I met a FB woman RVing friend for lunch yesterday. It was wonderful to meet in person. I reminded her of this group... Hope she joins. And she agreed to meet me at an Ethiopian restaurant. We each got sampler plates with different items and shared. Then split the leftovers. Yum!

Nothing planned for today.

Darn is a nicer word for the one I'm thinking right now! It's 17 freekin' degrees  Supposed to get even colder tonight. Both space heaters were running when I woke up, but I actually turned on the furnaces to help cut the chill in Myrtle. It's da** cold if I give in and use my precious propane....Haha! They have give a release date of the 21st for CamperForce, at Amazon, here in KY. I can hardly wait to head to warmer climes! For today, I'm hunkerin down and maybe watching a movie. Laundry tomorrow.

Hey Linda! Good to see you on here again! You need to get out here pronto! I am SO glad not to be in Minnesota right now with the sub-zero temps there! Mid 70's here but cooler temps and rain tomorrow.

My roommates daughter is here for two weeks from LA. That should keep things lively around here! At least it will keep my roommate happier for awhile. The other renter here hasn't been home for a couple of weeks. Her job takes her to Mexico sometimes for a week or two at a time. I have only seen her 3 times since I moved in two and a half months ago!

Was super busy at work last night so made some good tips. Some odd customers tho. One guy (from India) brought his two kids in and I did haircuts on all three. Dad was super fussy about the haircuts and it took a long time to make him happy. Then he gave me three coupons for $7.99 for each haircut. When I gave him the receipt, he questioned the $23.97 total. I tried to explain that was the correct total. He finally agreed and left but came back 10 minutes later and had a long discussion (while we were super busy) with the assistant manager about why he still thought the bill was wrong. Jeez! If you can speak English, you should be able to add a few numbers! We documented the whole thing on paper later in case he comes back again.

Back to work this afternoon and then a day off tomorrow.

Have a great day! Stay warm or cool!

Your bird is a Limpkin. They are here at Myakka River too. Neat otter pics.
