Balmy Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Balmy Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue Oct 18, 2016 6:15 am

Good Morning on this mild Tuesday morning. Close to 70 out there and it's only 7 a.m.. Won't last though as cold front coming in later. Very windy though, she lots of leaves coming down. Know what I will be doing probably tomorrow :)

Today's project is going to be a total redo of the step to the side door landing of the house. It is one step and a bit too high, coming down from landing to deck to sidewalk. No railing either. So am going to replace it with two steps and a handrail. Should make it easier and more safer.

Posted a pic of Eileen's new MH under Show Off Your Rigs for her till she has time to figure out how to post pics on here and also one of the mini GTG in the Upper Peninsula last month, in the GTG Group picture thread for those who may be interested.

Hope you all have a nice day :)

Amazing. Here it is mid October and I had trouble sleeping because it was too hot out last night and the winds that would have kept it comfortable like the previous night died. Lol I even turned the generator I twice to chill the rig down. Helped. So now I'll see whether I drive as far as I'd like today, since winds are down, or stop early because I'm brain dead from no sleep. Haha

Time to walk Peaches and dump the rig and get back on the road.

Judy, loved your antenna story. There's always help in parks. Personally I have Rig with a ladder because I go up regularly. But understand you can't. Lots out there to help.

Thanks to everyone contributing to the post on Medicare. It's helped me tremendously.

Good morning Everybody from sunny and warm Hartford. Sue, thank you for posting the photo in gtg. I really enjoy seeing photos of forum members I haven't yet met. It puts names and faces together. Looks like you were enjoying the campfire. In a little while I'm taking my kitten, Purrfect, to the vets for her final distemper shot. What a bundle of energy she is! There's a big difference between a kitten and a mature cat, I'm learning. Enjoy today. Peggy

Good Morning from Gladys, VA (near Lynchburg)

Yesterday was moving day and did I end up on some narrow country roads!! I had compared the GPS with the park's directions the night before and all was good. Guess the GPS changed its mind! After waking at 5 yesterday, I had a nap after I got set up! Great weather and I'll ride the Blue Ridge tomorrow. So far fall colors are a bit disappointing - dry leaves.

Yes, it is nice to see photos! Seems to me we have so many more small gtgs than in the past. I'm now finding some of that with SS forum members. Beth, nights are warmer here than they were by the time I left Gloucester! Glad I didn't get around to putting blankets back on the bed. Peggy, kittens (and puppies) are always so fun to watch.

I slept in so suppose I should get at something!

Make it a great day and be safe!

Part of my problem, Beth, is being afraid of falling off my roof, but I have the usual ladder at the back of my RV. The other is that I have two replaced knees with what I was told are very fragile kneecaps. (They did not even back them with plastic as they usually do during the surgery because the surgeon was afraid of breaking them.) My ortho doctor told me not to kneel on hard surfaces, and I have a couple of times, but it feels really weird with my replacements because they cut nerves and such. So even if I had the nerve to get up there, I would have to walk or scoot on my rear end. At my age, it is better to pay someone.

I had a wonderful day yesterday riding my bike at Key West. There is absolutely no parking anywhere for motorhomes, but I discovered a trick: the state park (Fort Zachary Taylor) has a beach and a big gravel lot where you can park a motorhome all day for just paying the entrance fee. That's a lot cheaper than what the regular parking lots charge anyway. Then, you can unload your bike and ride all over the place. With my electric bike, it was easy, and I got to see some places you can't drive to. One was the Truman Annex, which is a gated community that has gorgeous homes in a park-like setting right next to the historic downtown area. I think I am going to do that again next week. I'm renting a car this week from Wednesday to Tuesday, but don't think I'll have one I can carry my bike on. Am going to post photos right now on blog.

Staying inside most of today to get work done. I am teaching three condensed classes this semester, which is really like having a full-time job, but it will help me catch up with credit card bills.

Beth, the farther South you get the heat is going to be worse. Here it is mid October and it's still 90 here. The weather says a cool front is coming on Saturday and the high will be 73 but then it's going to warm back up.

Peggy, you don't need another kitten do you? My "friend" talked me into taking a kitten they found at the plant where she works. Someone probably dumped it there. You can tell it was someones pet because it is so friendly. She is suppose to be trying to find it a home but looks like I will be camping with a cat this weekend. I can't turn it loose because it gets in my feet and it would trip Harold. I have him in a big cage in the old house.

Judy, RVers are a helpful bunch. Just open your hood and stand there looking in your engine. You will draw a crowd. lol

Sue, the older we get the more important it is to have railings. The guy that built our porch and steps put a 6" board for the railing with a board on the outside. There was no way to get a grip on it. We were only in the house a short time and Harold fell down the steps and broke some ribs. We put pipes like the kind that go on top of a chain link fence so we would have something to hold on to.

I need to go get groceries for this weekend but I have a headache. I'm leaving tomorrow so I can stop and see my sister. She had knee surgery yesterday.

Martha, you are absolutely right about helpful campers! I once camped next to a young German couple, who came running every time I returned from an errand to "help" me back into my site. And another once came running after me to the dump station with my water hose in hand that he thought I had "forgotten." When I was sick, I had offers to take me to urgent care of get groceries for me.

So, this really makes it all very easy for newcomers, especially women! Just stand around looking like you do not know how to do something, and you will get instant help.

On the other hand, I have helped retrieved belongings in the wind and even helped put down an awning for some absent campers during a strong wind.

It is one big happy family looking out for each other! :D

I did some more shopping today for black tops. Found a couple more. That will have to do for now.

I have an old work acquaintance who will be coming to Tucson in early December so I will be going down there to meet with her then. I have another old work friend who is coming down with her husband in their 5th wheel in December to Sedona and then in January they are going to Q. I told her I would get together with her there. Another more recent co-worker might be coming to Phoenix this winter too. My brother and his wife will be coming thru here sometime this winter as well. So lots of company!

I am planning to leave for Prescott tomorrow morning and spend the night there after checking out the area around there. Then will head to Sedona early Thursday morning (thru Jerome) and spend the day there before heading back to Phoenix. I will eventually go back to Sedona to spend more time there but for now just want to see it while I am in the area.

Will be much easier to explore those areas without the trailer and cat to worry about!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
