Warming up Saturday

Morning all,

Here we are, mid October already. Sure doesn't feel like it. Heading to 65 today. I miss those crisp, peak fall color days. So while it's warm, will wash my windows, store the screens, grease my snowblower and maybe blow some leaves. Had a fun day yesterday at the Apple Festival, looking at all the arts and crafts booths, munching on goodies, buying cider, apples etc..P, then took the girls for a long walk and a romp at our township park near herewhen I got home. They loved the freedom of being off lead for a little while.

Carolb, hard to believe you need to cover plants. We have yet to have a hard freeze here, although they have issued advisories for mid section of state. Growing season is done here. Barb, congrats on getting the new job. I'm sure in time, you will find the right place to settle down. CArol, great that repairs are getting done at your house. Seems like everybody's busy with family, dog shows, etc., and Ava, congrats on the Medicare card. Not much longer and you will be free to do what you want, when you want. Yes, it is scary, but at same time, so free.

Time to be moving along here. Need to make quick trip to store for bread, milk etc. You all have a nice day. Stay safe on the roads and I also hope hose in the PNW are faring okay in the storms hitting out there.

Good morning,
Have a couple minutes til I have to run out on errands. Was a truly nice day here yesterday, sunny and warm enough to be comfy. A friend had called a week ago to go horseback riding at a nearby stable; her son had given her a Groupon and she wanted me to go with. After my successful first ride in 4 yrs. down in Brown Co., I was up for the challenge! We went, it was fun and now I have had 2 rides! Feel like I'm ready to get back into my own saddle now.

Pondering my last trip of the year, not sure where to go yet. Have one particular destination in mind, need to make a phone call first. Tried to stop here on my way home from IN, but got too tired to actually make it the whole way. Sad that I have to put my Angel up in her winter barn soon.

Kathy

You are hoping for it to warm up, Sue, but I am waiting for it to cool off!

Highs have been 86 muggy degrees during the day and lows have been 75-79 at night!! Glad AC is working well, but it is so noisy. It is supposed to cool down a couple of degrees next week. But, it is beautiful here in the Keys, and after a stressful August and September I am enjoying just sitting inside and watching the water!

Sorry to hear that some of you are winterizing already. I'll be hanging around Florida until March, so looking forward to a couple of GTGs and seeing some of you. Also, looking forward to visiting the five cousins I have down here! Cousins are fun when you have a lot of them because you can talk about other cousins.

Good morning gals! :D

Think I will go do some clothes shopping today and then head over to Rawhide which is a faux Wild West town just a little ways from here and check that out.

Tomorrow I will stay home, do laundry, get my blog started, and then go to a meeting at the new shop in the evening. The other renter is gone for the weekend and the couple won't be back from California until Monday evening. Monday I have the State Laws class in the morning and then will straighten up the house before they get home. Tuesday I might head up to Prescott and Sedona for a day or two.

I unpacked some stuff and rearranged my bedroom yesterday so it is a little more comfortable in here. Lola likes to sit in the window and watch the birds. I haven't spent much time out by the pool yet, Need to do that this weekend! Still getting used to the hot weather here  . The pool is ice cold so am a little reluctant to get in there! Don't like cold water!

Have a good day and those in the NW stay dry!

Sue:

Have been reading your posts over the past months, and your area and lifestyle sounds like heaven.

In my part of California, near Sacramento, it seems that we basically have two seasons: bake yer brains or freeze yer a$$. These days mostly the former, hot weather (80s & 90s) can linger into late November.

The older I get, the more I dislike hot weather.

If you would care to share the name of your town or the name of your county, I would like to open my "wish book" (Realtor.com) and check things out.

I am retiring as of December 1 (hooray!) And need to see if there is something better out there for me, climate-wise. The chances of me making a move are probably slim to none (both of my adult children live in the San Francisco area) but I can dream, can't I? :-)

Also, you may have posted this in the past, if so I missed it: what made you decide to move from one place to another in the same area? Not my business of course, no need to answer if it is too personal.

Thank you! :-)

Anne

Good morning!

Sunshine & 70's today - can't beat this. I LOVE having my windows open all the time & not using heat or a/c!

For the first time since we've been here, Sadie HAD to go out at 3 AM this morning. What a good girl to wake me up - she reallllly had to go! Very proud of her.

My house in KS closed on Tuesday - money was in my account shortly there-after. Guess I have to become a CA resident now - when I called my insurance agent to switch insurance to here -they told me I should get the vehicles licensed out here now. Need to just bite the bullet & do it. Until now I've considered my stay here temporary - without the house there, I guess its now permanent. Hello to higher insurance rates & higher income taxes... oh well, I guess it a small price to pay to be close to my 2 youngest kids & my precious Olivia. And nearly perfect weather most of the time. :)

Barbie, hoping everything falls into place for you - you'll appreciate the weather even more when they have snow/ice back home. Ava, hooray for the medicare card - retirement is just around the corner. Sue, I'm glad I don't have to do or worry about all that yard work anymore. Sounds like you enjoy it though plus it keeps you out of trouble. Anne, it snows where Sue lives - note the snowblower maintenance. I never dreamed of moving from KS - but this grandbaby 'made me do it'. Go where the spirit leads you - remember moving is not a life-sentence. It is just another stop on the journey & you can always go back. JudyB, that is warm! Have fun with your cousins. Kathy, back in the saddle again - sounds like fun. And Carolb, covering up plants - just think out here you wouldn't have to do that. :)

Well, I'm going to do some cleaning this weekend & try to get a few more things out of the travelin' van. Hopefully my son will round up a couple of guys to help get the big stuff out soon so I can resume taking it to the beach. :D
Hope everyone in the NW is safe.
Take care,
Catherine

Had a happy surprise yesterday when a box of a dozen huge Shari's Berries arrived at my door, a late birthday gift from Minnesota son. Better late than never and tasty!
Rain yesterday and today. Loving the rain at last. Soon we too shall deal with golden leaves fluttering down.
Son in Minnesota says they have had 4 hard freezes already! Glad for relatively nice winters mostly in Sacramento region!
Have a good weekend all.
