Taco Tuesday???? As original as I get!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Taco Tuesday???? As original as I get!

Postby dpf » Tue Oct 11, 2016 10:38 am

Good Morning! What’s up? I’m the first one here! That certainly doesn’t happen often…if ever. Just had a really nice weekend. I had Bronc on Friday…that’s always fun. The daycare provider’s MIL had fallen and broke her arm and hip on Wednesday. Ashley had called and asked if I could pick him up early for her because Mellissa had to get to the hospital. He stayed at his other grandma’s on Thursday and I was on gramma duty Friday. It wasn’t the best day to have him because Beth came on Friday, but he cooperated and took about a three hour nap so we had a good visit. During which time I screwed myself out of her staying another day because I told her that the Terry Redlin Art Gallery was something she couldn’t pass up. After Ashley picked him up I introduced Beth to Moscow Mules! Made Indian Tacos for supper. By the way Sheila will you share your recipe for the scones/frybread? Mine are like shoe leather. Anyway when Beth stops next year I hope to have time to take her to some interesting places in this area. Just didn’t have the time this round. She’s always welcome at Camp Cihak.

Beth left late Saturday morning and my sister came in the afternoon. We didn’t do much but it’s always fun to see her. Sunday night we ended up with some my friends coming over and we had a hen party. And yesterday we had Bronc while Ashley went to the dentist. She didn’t have school because of Native American Day. Sister left just a little while ago.

Now for my big news. I’m going to be a gramma again. Bronc is going to have a new sibling in May. I’m ecstatic and hoping for a girl. I want to buy dolls and make frilly dresses! But I’ll be satisfied with healthy.

So glad that those of you who were in the line of the hurricane are okay. Watching FB and here as some you start migrating south. Barbie had landed! Liz is hiking around as usual…she makes me tired reading about her travels! Beth is headed to her sister’s house. Not to ignore the rest of you but always read your posts. Have a wonderful day. Hard to believe October is a third over.

Not many posters this morning, so everyone must be busy. I am trying to relax today, but was up very, very late last night finishing the last papers that were due yesterday. Then this morning I had a lot of personal and class housekeeping to do. I also almost finished putting away yesterday's groceries. Cleaned out the refrigerator and freezer of stuff I bought for my company and grandkids and will not eat. Next task is to count out a couple of week' pills and make some cookies!

I've had several long days of driving to avoid Hurricane Matthew and to get all the way down here, but I will be here at Bahia Honda for 9 days and then in Curry Hammock and Long Pine Key for 6 days each, and they are not far apart, so that will be nice. I need the rest. And, I have a sore throat, so am considering an urgent care visit--yuck!

Good Afternoon!

Pat, saw your news on FB - excited for you! I spent yesterday with my niece's family at a pumpkin patch and got to snuggle with 7 month old Abby. Plus fun with the 3 and 7 year old. Glad Beth got to visit even for a little while.

Donna, hope things are settling down for you after the storm. Barbie, I noticed a difference with time zones on the trip to CA, but dehydration can make a difference as well. Hope you feel better. I wish I had Liz's go, go, go! Even when Steven was alive, we had a down day every couple of days. I know I get too caught up with the mess in here and what needs to be done.

Fall has arrived in Virginia. Time for blankets back on the bed, heater out and long pants - probably til I get to Florida.

Finishing up some things so I can go sightseeing/riding tomorrow.

Make it a great day and be safe!

I've been up since 6:00. It's too noisy around here to sleep. I tried to go back to bed but that didn't work. It's very windy this morning and Harold goes out and doesn't latch the storm door so that's banging.

Pat, congratulations on the grand baby. Be careful what you wish for. My sister has 3 granddaughters and she is alway broke. The oldest is 15 and it probably cost her $200 to outfit her for home coming.

I'm still unloading the camper. I go out after one thing and forget what I went for so come back with something else. I have another trip on the 20th. Brought the GPS in to update. It's probably been 2 years since it was last updated and it's starting to stutter. lol I hope I aggravate it as much as it aggravates me. My Garmin would recalculate when it saw that I wasn't going to turn around. The TomTom just keeps telling me to turn around.

I will probably go to town after lunch. I haven't been to the post office in a week and the box will be overflowing.

Quiet day here in Ohio. Josef went to the vet yesterday for his annual and his first set of big boy shots.......when they go on the three year shot cycle for rabies. I made it to an acupuncture appointment this morning. It may not be doing what I had hoped for my chronic rebound headaches but the neuropathy in my feet is much much better. Instead of two blocks of wood I now have feet that are merely numb on the bottom.....

Stuart goes in Thursday for a teeth cleaning and Audrey and Josef and I are heading out Friday for a dog show weekend. Which also means that there will be a "Nail" party later today or tomorrow for everyone.

It might be warm enough (70) for me to go kayaking this afternoon. I would talk about how much cleaning and stuff I have done but you know it would not be the truth. Laundry, yes. Balance the bank account, yes. Groomed a couple dogs, yes. I have my lists and that cleaning stuff isn't even on them! :)

I still can't add Minnesota to my visited states. My personal rule is my rv and I have to spend the night in the state. This will be at least my third time through with an rv (and let's not forget I lived in the state for three years), but I managed to stay just on the SD side the last two nights and I'm just on the Iowa side now. I planned to stay in Blue Earth, but when they had just closed the free cg for the season, I decided to get further. Might have gone all the way to my sister's, but the wind picked up again. Not as bad, but enough to not want to go three more hours. Will do that, probably in the rain, tomorrow.

I did have lunch in Blue Earth, with the big Green Giant statue. And while eating lunch, a soft sandwich, managed to break off more of my tooth. I may be skedaddling to Texas faster than planned. It is now sensitive. But will stay at my sister's at least a couple days.

Spent the day shopping. Went to Walmart and Target to get a few things I need around here and also got some t-shirts at Target that were on sale. Went to the local mall and walked around there. Got a couple sale books at B&N. Then went to a grocery store close to home to get some frozen food I wanted. Before I went in there, I noticed a Great Clips next door with a sign on the window that they are hiring. The manager happened to be there so I filled out an application and had an interview with her. (I apologized profusely for being dressed inappropriately but I hadn't planned on going in there. She was cool with that). She all but hired me right on the spot. I am going back on Thursday to do a "practical" interview, meaning doing a couple haircuts on a mannequin head for her to see. She was very impressed with my long history with Great Clips. I do want to check out a couple other locations tho before making a decision tho. There is another one just a few blocks the other way from me. Haven't heard back from the GC's recruiter so will just do it on my own.

The dress code at this shop is black, black and black...so if I end up working there I will have to go out shopping for more black clothes.

Am on pet sitting duty now for the next week. Still haven't met the other renter. She doesn't come home until well after 10pm and leaves for work around 6am, and is gone on the weekends.

Feeling better today but still tired. I am drinking a lot more water but think I am still just tired from the long week of driving down here.

Just got a notification from the fraud department at the bank. My dad deposited a $1000 fraudulent check in his account the other day and they now are rejecting it and pulling the money from his account plus a penalty fee. Will be interesting to see if they close his accounts or not. They don't take those things lightly.
