Hurricane Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hurricane Thursday

Morning,

I'm sure a lot of us have our eyes on FL and up the east coast right now. Many of us have friends or family down there. I have neighbors near the FL coast in Jupiter who summer here and are now home there, preparing for Matthew. She told me the other day that she got called into Lowes where she works part time, as they were swamped. Sold out of bottled water, gas cans, generators, lumber, plywood and hurricane hardware. Guess another shipment was due in overnight. Gas stations lined up and out of all but premium gas. I wonder about Mickie and her companion, as don't they have a beachfront condo? There are also some past and present WRV members down there. JudyJB, had been thinking of you and Donna also. Glad you two are moving out of harm's way. Donna, hope you were able to get the house secured. By the way, CArol told me she is having computer issues, so may not be on much till she can get them resolved.

On the northern front, it's foggy here. Suppose to be showers this afternoon. I will go pick up my trailer later on as dealer has it winterized and then hopefully wash it and get it covered tomorrow. Looks like today will be a putter in shed day.

So, guess that's it from this end. Sounds like Barb is doing well on her journey to AZ. Funny how so many of us who journey west, think of the pioneers. I did on my trip last year. Have a nice day everyone and stay safe, those of you in the hurricane area.

Gmorning Sue & all to follow:)

Floridians be safe! Donna, thankfully you have your Trek to get away to safety. I know how close you are to the shore, hope your/dad's house isn't damaged.

Barbie, that's such a great trip:) How interesting to know your grandparents traveled in a covered wagon? BJ & Tina, glad you're enjoying some gtgs:) IL is beautiful in the fall--I lived there for 22 yrs so it's my "adulthood" home.

Getting ready to do an overnight with my bro & SIL. Perfect weather for it. Was also perfect yesterday, got much yard work done.

Alice, hope you feel better soon. Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

My friend from Florida and I are safe in Lake Seminole, GA, which is just north of the Florida panhandle and the state line. I was originally going to head to Myakka near Sarasota or Silver Springs, but then decided that if the hurricane turned slightly, I would end up in a very, very windy place. So, I decided to head for the panhandle because I knew I could move farther west or north if I had to. I think it was a good decision. State park gave me a full refund for the reservation I had made at Myakka even though they are still operating. That was nice.

I was up at 4:00 am yesterday morning because I kept checking the weather and was concerned about where to stay. We knew we had to be out of Fort Clinch that morning because it was closing. (It had been rockin' and rollin' windy all night to the point I had to put my slides in.) Amelia Island is of course an island and they wanted people over the bridges and at least onto the mainland. A lot of campgrounds were filling up fast with other evacuees, so that was a concern also. I knew this place was far enough away to be safe and have spaces, even if it was a 240 mile drive. So we got up, packed inside stuff away and were unhooked just as it started to get daylight. Got tanks dumped and we were off. I did NOT want to be in this motorhome even in 35 mph winds which is another reason I came so far west!!

Got up this morning and made crepes and now we are both going to spend day catching up with work.

Hope everyone else has moved to a safe place.

Another gorgeous day! I couldn't have asked for better weather for this journey!

Feeling bad for those in Florida and along the east coast. It is gonna be a huge mess by the time Matthew gets done with it! Hope those of you in those areas are in a safe place now. I had thought about moving down to Florida before deciding on Arizona and now I am very glad I didn't go there. My girlfriend in Crystal River still isn't able to move back into her house yet from last months hurricane.

Getting ready to head out to Winslow Arizona. Will meet up with Liz after I get settled in there. This motel isn't the ritz at all but the bed is super comfy and great pillows so that helped me sleep better. Lola is hiding under the bed now. Luckily they are normal beds and I have her leash attached to her harness so I can just grab that and pull her out!

There were several birds that landed in the little tree outside my room last night and started "singing". It sounded like 10 different kinds of birds tho! A whole chorus going on! It was very pretty and they started singing again this morning. Sounded like I was in the Amazon! Have never heard those "songs" before so will have to ask at the front desk if they know what kind of birds they are. It was dark out so didn't get a very good look at them but they looked kind of black in color.

Two more "sleeps" as the Native Americans used to say, before getting "home" and settled in. Ava is kind enough to let me store my trailer at her place until I figure out what to do with it. Will probably sell it since I need the money more than the trailer. It is holding up well considering all the rough roads I have been traveling on! Glad for the big new tires that are on it!

Will be nice to be able to sleep in and relax for a week or so before getting back into the work mode. I can tell I am getting worn out from the driving and stress (even tho it has been fun so far).

Better find Lola and get the Jeep loaded up...

Have a great day!

Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good Morning,

Barbie, I was just thinking you must be glad you decided on Arizona instead of Florida! I'm thinking some of my Florida winter plans may be changing once Matthew get done. As far as here, maybe it won't be so bad and my niece can after all. Carolb, I know you'll enjoy camping time with your brother and wife!

Sue, thanks for the info on CArol - was wondering where she is!

Cool and cloudy - think I might finally get to start a big cleaning job in the truck cab!!

Make it a great day and be safe!
