Morning Donna, I said coyotes because they started yapping just outside the bedroom window about 5:15 this morning. Then I said rabbits! We made it to Carlsbad Caverns National Monument yesterday. That was a nice visit. Today we will drive to through Roswell on our way to our next stop and doing day trips from there. It is quite cool here with the temps at night in the 50's and day times in the low 80's. Lovely fall weather in the desert southwest! I hope the hotties get cooled down and the wets dry out and the drys get wet. If you are on the road be safe and always have fun.

Good morning
I did say rabbits !!
Today is a "me" day and that means I'm going to get stuff done that will make "me"
happy. That includes the not so routine stuff like vacuuming behind, under and inside
areas you forget about. The dust around here is showing the spider webs and that
pretty much says it all. All in all, making "me" happy today.
I'm loving the weather lately.
Y'all have a great day, be safe and happy travels for those on the road.

Good Morning!

Birdie, this wet person would sure like to dry out! Planned to meet up with an SS couple from Virginia Beach, but that's on hold for now. :( At least things are getting done, but I hate being in limbo!

Donna, there will be an end and hopefully you aren't having all the sibling drama some of us have experienced! Keeping an eye on Matthew - I remember aftermath of Ivan farther north than this!!

Wishing you all a grand day and safe travels. Thinking the gals in the SW are making me a little jealous!

Hey there! I remembered to say Rabbits about 1:00 this morning…only because I am fighting the effects of prednisone and having sleep issues. Ended up with a heavy duty case of bronchitis and sinus infection about two weeks ago and I’m having a heck of a time shaking it. Therefore I’ve been a bit of a hermit for the last two weeks. So nothing to report….just checking in on the 1st! Fun the read about all your adventures. Donna….keep thinking of you and your purging. My mom willed the house to my sister (as she well should have because my sister is the one who lived and cared for her for seven years) and I keep telling my sister that all the junk is hers too. We do share all the crop land. Luckily we have a trustworthy lawyer and a good renter for the land. Speaking of my sister who is completely void of all electronic knowledge and really has no desire to learn….has no computer…still buys disposable cameras…get the picture? Well ATT notified her that she HAD to replace her vintage cell phone because it would no longer work after 1/1/17…she now is the proud and very confused owner of a smart phone which she has absolutely no idea how to use except to answer it…she’s still looking for the second grader that should have been supplied with it. So she calls me long distance on the landline and asks questions. It’s going to be interesting to see how soon she catches on….if ever.

Well I have to get to the post office because there is a package for me and the window is only open from 9-9:30 on Saturday. Have a good day and a great October. I'm hoping Beth is able to get her furnace problems resolved so she can visit the end of this week.

I remembered Rabbits at midnight because someone mentioned it last night. Another cool day or cool for us. It's 82 this morning.

Donna, can you get the weather channel on your phone or computer. They show their prediction about Matthew. It is slowly moving West and should start making a turn to the North tomorrow. I am watching it with interest too. I am planning on leaving on Wednesday but if it happens to get in the Gulf I won't be able to leave. They are getting good at predicting where hurricanes will go but there are still a lot of ifs and buts.

Pat, your sister and I have the same problem. I only change phones when they make me. I got Harold a flip phone because I knew he would never be able to use a smart phone. There were a few days that I was having trouble answering my smart phone. It still does things that I can't figure out and my son has to fix. I have the volume all the way up and still have trouble hearing it in my purse. It's too big to put in my pocket and I keep forgetting it on my desk.

I need to go get a prescription Harold called in and the drug store closes early on Saturday. I need to make a Mexican dish for the campout I am going to. I like Mexican food but I don't cook it. I need something I can cook in a slow cooker. I would think most Mexican dishes would be mush cooked in a slow cooker. I found a recipe for King Ranch Casserole cooked in a slow cooker. I think I will get the ingredients and give it a trial run today.

Thanks Pat for the reminder that this is check-in time. I totally forgot. All is well in cold, dreary and rainy Hartford. I'm leaving with a friend in a few minutes for a trip to Maine. I hope the sun comes out at some point so we can see some pretty leaves. Enjoy today. Peggy

I said rabbits, but not first thing... and I need the luck today! Whether my heater gets fixed determines whether I can go visit Pat. And I WANT to go visit Pat!!!

Birdie, you'll be passing a nice NWR today - if you get to Roswell, you've passed it. It's mainly birds, so someplace I imagine you'd like. It's called Bitter Lake: https://www.fws.gov/refuge/bitter_lake/
Some of their recent bird sightings: https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Bitter_Lake/ ... acker.html

Hope everyone has a great day.

Checking in. We are parked outside Ithaca, NY for some days of visiting relatives, gorge and waterfall hikes and some wine tasting. The Finger Lakes are well known for their wines as well as boating. Don't know how long yet in this area but will probably move to Watkins Gen and then it's jello time. carold

Checking in. I did remember rabbits around midnight so did that before I went to bed.

Carol, in the finger lakes region I remember attending the grand opening of a lovely estate winery - Wagner something. Belonged to brother of friend. Think it is still there being operated by 2nd or 3rd generation now.

Working on developing a new skill - stabbing leaves with a thin slightly flexible stick. Some may remember that I had new dirt and grass seeds planted in a problem area last week. Leaves have started falling (slowly so far) and I'm trying to keep them from smothering out any new grass that might venture forward. Cannot rake or blow the area without disturbing the seed - thus the stabbing attempts. That is actually a great deal more difficult than one might think. The stick is 4' long, couldn't handle any longer and aim/control motion. Not too bad when standing where you can stab straight down but I'm trying to minimize walking over the area so need the reach distance. Hope it gets easier with a bit of practice.

Big cool down still under way. Actually feels pretty good during day but chilly at night. We need rain but none in the 10 day forecast. Means I'll have to keep watering the new seed but glad I don't have to be concerned that a gully washer and/or overflowing gutters will wash all the new dirt down the hill before grass has a chance to take root.

Excited that Vicki and Dave may make an over night stop here around the middle of the month. They will be traveling between two of the dutch oven cook offs before returning to FL.

Checking in on Rabbits day: all is well here. Getting ready to go out for a long GTG weekend next week camping with Cheryl near WI Dells. Then home for a day, take the MH to get winterized, then off to Florida for the next long weekend. We love our new motor home! Camping through the UP with Sue last week was great, too. If I'd stay home long enough I could take the time to learn how to post pictures of the durn thing!
Be safe and well, friends.

Just landed in Cameron, MO, just north of Kansas City. 7 1/2 hour drive today! Had to stop several times because my knee was bothering me. I have a soft brace on it but had to put some Flexall stuff on it when I stopped and that helped a lot.

Weather was cloudy and cool which was nice. Got a few spritzes of drizzle here and there but not enough to even get the roads wet.

Lola was stressed out when we first left but that was mostly because there was a group of people in my apartment saying goodbye, etc, and a little girl trying to pet her. Once we got in the car, she started to settle down. After about an hour she would occasionally meow and I would put my hand in the carrier to reassure her and she would get quiet and take a nap. She is laying on the bed next to me purring. It was a long day for both of us but we did OK.

My GPS is working good. I like that it tells what the speed limit is and how fast I am going. My speedometer is off by about 8 MPH so I can now see exactly how fast I am going.

I ended up leaving a few things behind that wouldn't fit in the carrier, trailer or Jeep. Nothing that can't be replaced. With not even an inch to spare, I won't be buying any souvenirs along the way!

Need to start planning tomorrows route. I will be heading to Tulsa, OK. There are a couple of Route 66 things I want to stop and see near Joplin.

I did remember "rabbits" this morning, so hope that helps with this move!

Little late getting on here today but I did remember to say RABBITS so we shall see how my month goes and if it is worth it LOL

I have had the King Ranch Casserole at work. A fellow nurse made it and brought it to work I thought it was pretty good.

I have a smart phone and it really is way smarter than I am but I enjoy being able to do my banking, check out RV parks, see what eateries are close, gas prices, and of course google maps helps many times. I am not super attached to my phone tho it is usually in the house when I am outside or I leave it in the car LOL Unless I am expecting a call or a text. I do have a friend tho that I am sure it is an extension of her arm she is always checking it, or on facebook. I dont have that big an interest.

Hope your furnace is an easy fix Beth. Are you going to Q this year. I want to go but just not sure when I will leave. Need to watch the storms and weather along the way. I need to check out the best route to get down that way. Weather is turning chilly already, only 40 this morning with a high of 64 bbbrrrrr. Only going to be 56 tomorrow with a low of 39 dang it is too early for this kind of weather LOL It is already a short Fall in my mind.

Love all the pictures of Winslow AZ from Liz. I really enjoyed that town.

Travel safe Barbie, your making good time and hope the weather just gets better for you.

Karen, my jello plans include a couple weeks in Q. I hope to see you there.

Yay, furnace and oven fixed. Lots of jello plans turning into fixed plans... first stop to see Pat this coming Friday. Then off to Wisconsin to catch up with some family and friends. Next Iowa and another friend. Kansas for another. Texas where I hope to see another good friend. After that south Texas where I'm thinking of staying a month. Get my dental work taken care of and just unwind. Then traipse around southern NM until time for Q.
