Tuesday and nippy in Maine

Woke up to a nippy 51* here in west part of Maine. I need to be thinking about getting a little farther South if this is the pattern. I don't like anything much below 48*. Sun is out so it will warm up. Yesterday was laundry day so today is put it up day. Then I will head down to the river, Andrewscoggins River it is called. Hope it starts to cool down for those of you in the deep south. If it doesn't grab your knickers and head north. Here is hoping you have a great day. Stay safe on the road and have fun where ever you are.

Mornin' Birdie and all that follow ~~~

Yes, sounds nippy, but I'm so sick of the heat & humidity, I could use a brisk day or two. Probably crazy, but I think we are going to have an early fall. I've been seeing flocks of cormornats, geese, and starlings already, and the lilies in my back yard that usualy bloom in July, bloomed in June and are already dying out for the season. We're overdue for a bad winter, so guessing it's coming. Anyone have a Farmer's Almanac?

So far temps looking favorable for camping the weekend of the 19-21. Yippee! KInd of a sunny spot, but I bought a UV umbrella for shade. The one I had in Giant City just didn't cut it, but I'll keep it as a spare.

Hope everyone is doing well, and looks like Brown County, IN may be the place to be in the Fall. Well not much else happening. Have a good day ladies & stay safe on the roads.

G'morning Birdie, Cheryl & all to follow:)

Cool here too, but warm & humid weather on the way. So stay where you are Birdie, I think you'll be getting it too:) As for our "cool," I'm sure Martha is green with envy  Donna, I'm green with envy of your next gtg with Margie--I love Mount Dora, but never camped there. We'll have to do that this winter:)

Spent yesterday catching up on house & yard work. Today, many veggies to chop, cook & freeze.

This is short since I "poofed" my first msg. Just wishing y'all a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good morning from a parking lot in Henderson NC. GPS told me it would take longer to get here for 9 a.m. SS appt :( Sales doesn't even open until 9. Rode in very cool weathr with high fog and then some mist! Birdie, enjoy the cool while you can!

Checked into COE park in Clarksville, VA yesterday for 10 days to prepare for cross country trip. Pull thru site is only pull thru if no one is in the site behind! Then a lot of the site in a hill! First time I've had that kind of misfit with Reserve America. Intenet there is slow or then non-existent.

We toured monuments in D.C. Sunday. Sure fun to be with young ones.

Make it a great day and safe travels.

That 51 so undos good to me Birdie. We had close to that yesterday. In mid 60's this morning. Going to around 90 next few days and back to 70's by weekend again. We seem to have a pattern of cool weekends I to Monday's, then gradual warmup till end of week when it hits the high temps and back down again on weekend. Cheryl, your early blooming Iris probably was tricked into thinking it was July due to the warmer tHan normal temps this summer. Looks like rain and storms too.

How many of you gals with finished basements or unfinished ones, leave the stairway open? Or do you keep a door closed or maybe have a half door? I removed my full door to let air circulate but at same time, kind of consider it a safety hazard not having something there.

Anita, that upcoming SS trip sounds exciting, I know we will all be following you virtually. Birdie's trip sounds good too, as is Liz's and Mitch is supposedly on the road as well. I'm starting to think same for next summer as by then I will be done "playing" with my new house :) Not sure if it will be east or west.

Today's adventure is off to cherry orchard and then a different Habitat for Humanity store over that way. Looking for bargains for the house. Right now base and wall cabinets, not many, just couple for my office room and garage. So Guess I should get a move on here. Carolb, when you are all done with gardening, you can come help me with some new flowerbeds

Good morning. Coolish here this morning too! But upper 80's later in the day so can't complain. I've already been out and about this morning, had to drop Rascal off at the groomer. Since she was away for a few days he is way past needed to be done. Wanted to get him done before I went to Carolb's but didn't happen and this was the soonest she could get him in!

I'm going to try to get some painting done outside today. I have had the paint for the porches for awhile now and need to quit procrastinating and just get started with it! Also got paint for some of the trim on the house too so that'll be part of the process too! They are calling for rain tomorrow and for several days to follow so I have just a short window of time to get going on it! The fair starts next week and runs for 10 days so I'll be there pretty much everyday so that cuts into my outside work!

Well, time to change into my paint clothes and get moving! Good to hear what you all are doing, sounds like some fun journeys happening. Take care and travel safe.

Nippy sounds wonderful! I left hot and humid Minneapolis yesterday after meeting my nephew for breakfast. Now I am in southwestern Wisconsin, along the Mississippi River. Campground is Grant River Recreation and is a COE place, so only $10 for paved, electric site with a small view of the river. Only real problem is the trains that go by. It isn't the sound of the trains themselves, but that they blow their whistles very, very loudly as they go by.

I am having problems adjusting to humidity after being out west so much of the past year. Also, mosquitos are driving me nuts. I am itching even where I don't have bites because it FEELS like I might have bites. Anyway, I have electric, cell service for internet, and a satellite signal, so how can I be unhappy?? Really a great place to spend a few days, especially at this price for seniors. Got to head out right now to see the river before it gets too hot here and the bugs come out! Going to be 88 today.

Birdie, your weather would be nice for a change. Even Judy's 88 would be good. It was 95 for a couple of hours and I thought maybe that would be the high but it's up to 100 again. We are suppose to be getting the rain that's in Florida now but it doesn't look like it's moving very fast.

Sue, I don't think many people in Louisiana have basements. In South Louisiana they would be swimming pools. But I guess I could have had one with this house since we are on a hill. If I had thought about it we would have put one of the tornado shelters in the hill. If we keep having so many tornados we might do it any way.

When my son moved he had 2 quart size bags of frozen chicken tenders. I don't know why he froze them like that. What are you going to do with a big hunk of frozen chicken. I have been wanting to make Liz's cranberry chicken so decided to try it in the slow cooker. I put the hunk of chicken tenders, about 5 or 6 frozen hot wings and a couple of chicken thighs in the slow cooker. We'll see how it comes out being cooked in a slow cooker.

Don't know what I'll do today. My office is getting junky again so guess I could do some cleaning. I would rather run the roads but don't have anywhere to go. Only a little over a week until my next campout.

Martha

Judy ~ thanks for the heads up on Grant River. I have 6 nights scheduled there in October and may look for somewhere else. I'm a super light sleeper so would need a vacation after my vacation if I don't sleep well. I lived right by train tracks when I was married, and I think I finally was getting used to them a year later, and then we moved! lol

On another train note, read this article today, that research is being done up in Banff because they are finding grizzlies are following the rail line. I know coyotes & deer follow them around here. Good thing WI doesn't have bear.

Birdie, I envy your nice nippy weather too! Martha, I don't know how you do it. It's 95 and humid here, and I get sweaty just walking around the garden. I hate that! Still, it's supposed to be cooler on the weekend . . .

Gonna be hot and humid here for a few days before cooling off nicely by the weekend. Supposed to get heavy rain storms wednesday and thursday. Was planning to go to the county fair on thursday but will have to see what the weather is like.

Nothing else new here. Hope you all have a good day!

Still sweatshirt weather where I am in Oregon. I'm loving it, although I don't like having to run the furnace in the morning. Spending another week in the Bend area for a dr. appt. and an RV repair. I'll have a chance to gtg with Kerry and Gloria too. Then I'll see where the weather takes me, lol.

Hello, all! I'm a wee bit late for morning coffee, still a newbie. It's a lovely day here in Oregon, we really don't get much extreme weather, highs or lows or humidity. Oh, we complain for the few days when it's over 85 or below freezing and overcast drizzling rain and fog gets tiresome but mostly we have it pretty good here. So I'm late becsuse of morning projects, aside from the daily chores we all have, I helped the hubs hang some shade cloth from the deck cover and found a nice little bike rack for the motorhome that mounts over the spare tire. Found it on Craigslist for $20 bucks. It's perfect!
So really I wanted to respond to Sue regarding the basement door. I don't know if it would work but I thought how about installing a screen door or storm door with screen sections. That way you could have air circulation when you want it or close the screens when you don't and you wouldn't have the safety issue, you could even lock it. Just tossing out an idea. :D

Cheers!
Dianne.
