Tree Cutting Friday

Morning,

Tree cutting going to take place here today. Nothing big, just a few small skinny trees that are clumped together and trying to grow out from under the biggies. They don't amount to anything when they are like that, so weeding them out to shape up the yard. Also having a bunch of overgrown bushes and their stumps taken out, a couple of trees trimmed up and a bunch of old brush removed. So that's my morning here and then will watch them tackle 4 huge trees over at the neighbors. Two of which are close to the house. Should be fun watching.

Weather is cool here this morning. Going to 78 today, just nice and normal for here. But next week, back into the 80s. Nights have been cool for sleeping so no complaints here. Hope the week I head out for my first trip of the year isn't hot or I will cancel it.

So, that's the news from here this morning. Hope you all have a nice day. Keep cool where it's hot. Enjoy your travels if you are on the road and keep safe everyone.

Good morning! I am up early for me, 7:30 am Mountain time. Was busy trying to make a reservation at Ortona South COE Campground in Florida, and it is VICIOUS out there!!! :o Had six sites picked out and clicked on all six but got none. I have this system of starting to click on sites four seconds before they open. I have each open in a separate window with the Select button showing. Somebody beat me to each one!!! But I waited online, continually refreshing my screen until finally one of the sites became open, so at least I got Site 10. Probably someone had selected two or three sites (they must have had a faster system than mine) and discarded this one. Anyway, I got it for 14 nights for $15 per night. Paved sites, grass, nice landscaping, and water and electric, with nice patios and adequately spread apart. Great views and very out of the way, also.

It is a gorgeous campground right on the Caloosahatchee River, which goes from the Atlantic to the Gulf, through Lake Okeechobee. There are three sets of a dam and locks, so you can take your boat through. It is great fun to sit on the bank and watch the cruisers and even bigger boats go through the locks. The people on the cruisers are doing exactly what we RVers are doing, except on boats!! Big problem, however, is that there is a large group of people who bounce back and forth between these three campgrounds and one other, spending the whole winter doing that because they are all so nice and so cheap.

Anyway, the competition is incredible for these and other prime camping spots in Florida. People use multiple computers and have more than one person clicking, which I think is unfair competition!! This year I am going down early so I could get a week at three state parks in the Keys that are extremely difficult to get into: Bahia Honda, Curry Hammock, and Long Key. All are oceanfront sites and cost $43, which is dirt cheap for the Keys! I also snagged two weeks at Gamble Rogers in a prime oceanfront site where I can look over the greenery. (Some sites have big bushes blocking their views, but the one I got does not.) That site was $30, compared to the $100+ you would pay elsewhere for an oceanfront site.

Anyway, headed for Theodore Roosevelt National Park today. Got a $7 no hookup site, so hope I can survive the heat. Found out I can run generator until 8:00 pm, which I expect I will have to do. Going to be 82 today.

Not a good morning here....awakened to sad news that two SD police officers were shot last night...one died, one in OR. I have no other details at this time.

My trailer just needs some food put in the refrigerator then I'm ready to go...aiming to leave here tomorrow morning.

I had a busy day yesterday....and, it was quite warm. Didn't quite get everything done so will finish up today. lyn

I slept late this morning -- maybe because it was cool enough last night to sleep well! We got some rain late yesterday, too, so my garden is really happy this morning. I think it's so interesting that the official weather station at the airport, which is about ten miles from here, records only 1/10 of an inch, while the water in the tea bucket is more than an inch higher than it was yesterday. Weather can be really localized sometimes!

Also, the Cody Boys turned up to finish their work on the garage, so now the main door rolls up and down nicely . . . and I have more painting to do! Cool enough today, so I'd better get going on it.

Morning all! I would open up the house and enjoy if we dropped to 82! That temps perfect ESP after nearly a week of 100 to 108 temps! Finally they say sunday will be ONLY 98! Can't plan outdoor stuff with it hot and smoke drifting over 150 miles from a fire causing bad air, so will go do Curves then spend day indoors trying to declutter. At least I have your many reports in fun of the outdoors to dream about ! Have a good weekend all. A Happy Borthday hug to Piper at Sues house! Hope you get a extra good treat.

Good afternoon!

Went to check out the townhouse with a room for rent. The lady was nice and the townhouse was nice but...she has a dog from hell! It is a peeka poo but is nasty! It barked viciously at me and she told me to keep my hands and arms up and close to me because he will bite! Yikes! No thanks! Never mind my cat being terrified of it, I was terrified!

Moving on... need to find a place with NO dogs!

On a split shift today so am on my way back to work...

Velda, I agree. 82 for a high wouldn't get me running a.c. That's perfect weather. Got chilly here today when a storm came through. We had small hail for several minutes. It's so loud in an rv.

Last night I finally got to see Brulé. I've seen the band a few other times and enjoy them more each time. The weather for their performances here this summer has caused me to keep waiting. But last night was their final performance here this summer. Linda and her friend Ken joined me. It's an outside venue and before they started the rains and hail came. We snuck under an overhang. Needless to say our chairs got wet, but we survived and Brulé did their usual excellent performance.

Next week will be the lead into Sturgis. I doubt we'll be as busy as last year, which was the 75th anniversary, but expect be busy. Then it'll be almost all downhill.

Sorry about the house not working out, Barbie.
