Cool Saturday Morning

Morning everyone,

Nice cool morning here, 61 degrees. Supposed to be around 90 today, but remains to be seen. We have been warm up here, staying in mid 80's but humidity levels have been low. Only 40% yesterday. Dew points have been up, but with the humidity low, has been comfortable. Nights in the 60's. Been leaving windows open. I would suggest those of you looking for relief, to come up here. Temps heading into 70's by end of next week.

BJ, what you read about the corn and soybeans is true. They have been explaining the science behind it on the Weather Channel this week. The corn is giving off moisture and is why those of you in the corn belt are so humid.

Got more pictures hung up yesterday. Will of course have to take them down as I paint this winter, but feels homey having them up and painting is a winter project anyway.

Supposed to head north with my rig in two weeks. Got to start picking up a few staples and stocking it. Need to make up bed etc. and figure out menus. First trip out this year. Will be camping August 5-8 at Van Riper State Park in the U.P. If anyone wants to join me. Am thinking of adding another park and staying a couple days.

Right now am heading to kitchen for bowl of strawberries. Have a nice day everyone, keep are and cool in the heat, drink plenty of water.

Good Morning!

Cool here, but it will be 84 later. I'll go into town this afternoon, hopefully on the campground shuttle (which they charge for) - especially looking forward to the All-Star parade this evening. My Washington State daughter is up and watching the news so she texted me that Ken Griffey, Jr is on the golf course near me! :)

Martha, the first time I had the uphill sewer connection was in 2008 at Monument Valley (still had the 5er). That did it for me and I bought a Sewer Solution. Only drawback is you have to have a water connection to use it so the slinky comes out at dump stations. Cheryl, that plane crash is scary! Lyn, what a tragedy for your sister and the family. If couples are going to divorce, it is so sad the children are the losers when kept from family. Ava, fun to follow as you search!

I wasn't feeling too well yesterday so stayed home. Late in the afternoon I started planning for my cross country trip which was suppose to be casual. Ha! The end of an 8-hour day would be out in the middle of nowhere or in a big city! Ended up making reservations as far as Tucumcari, NM.

Carolb and I have been in touch - she and O'Sharon will be coming by on Monday!!

Make it a great day everyone and stay cool!

It's not cool here in the Palm of the Mitten, but the humidity is down a bit, and I'll be able to mess around in the garden. This entire area is all very low land, with lots of swamps not so very long ago, and it retains some of its original character. Who the heck locates a state capitol in the middle of a swamp? There was a rumor at the time that the guy who ran the trading post got the surveyors drunk. Weeks like this last one, I'm inclined to believe it. Have to head out for a few groceries later today. I'm out of coffee! That really is not acceptable.

Good morning gals! Currently have a small thunderstorm moving thru but a much bigger one is right behind it so after this first one is done, I need to run down and move my kayak before the strong one hits.

Have plans later to meet with some friends and go downtown to tour the new Vikings stadium! It is finally finished and the Vikings will be playing there this fall. Should be interesting to see!

Only to get to 90* today! Already 80 and humid. Maybe the storms will cool it off and bring down the humidity some. Or maybe make it worse!

Have a great day!

We might have a big storm, I actually got up and went to a farmers market near here. Calling it a farmers market is a bit of a stretch. There were 8 vendors and no vegetables. Peggy should have been with me, one vendor had canned figs so I bought some. I bought some sweet dough tarts and home made tamales and came home. After I get home Harold tells me that a lady sells tomatoes at the feed store.

I stayed at a campground in Tucumcari coming back from Seattle. It might have been a KOA. The only real attraction was it was right on the highway and they served a meal for supper. That was nice after a 500 mile drive. I didn't care much what the campground looked like. I think Carol had posted a campground on her blog that sounded better there. Tucumcari is where I decided to go South so I could eventually get to I-20. I should have tried to get to I-10 after I left Bakersfield. The road I took out of Tucumcari was covered in Tarantulas in one area. I didn't want to run over them but I didn't want them getting in my motorhome either.

Good morning, everyone.

Sitting at Starbucks while the travelin' van gets some maintenance done. Heading back to Kansas for a visit early Friday morning. A little nervous due to the temps & what I did last time (didn't stop frequently enough  ). But I need to get the KS house emptied out, fixed up & ready to sell.

I might be buying a townhouse out here. My offer was accepted so now for the financing. I told them I'd rack up some bills in getting the other house ready for sale so I hope that doesn't kill it. The townhouse is all one level in a community of 52 units. Most of the residents have been there forever & are older, but the grounds & homes are much better kept than other condos I've looked & the location is excellent. It's actually less than a mile from where my apartment is - so wish me luck.

The traveling van will double as a moving van as I haul some things back with me. I, too, usually stop in Tucumcari as the last stop before KS. If all goes well I'll be there next Saturday night. Nothing leasure about this drive for me - just lots of stops for walking around. I plan on being in KS most of August returning out here with the house empty & on the market.

Hope you all stay cool.
Take care, Catherine

Had three nasty storms roll thru in the past 3 hours. Torrential rains! Thought I had my kayak in a safe place but the beach washed out right underneath it and filled it with sand and debris. Luckily it was too heavy with water, sand, etc, to get washed into the lake. Will take awhile to get it cleaned out. The whole lake side is a mess from the heavy rains! Must have gotten about 4 or more inches in just a few hours here!
More storms predicted for later too.

edit... now there is a tornado warning west of here...

Martha, this trip is with just the SS so I'll be doing the motel thing!

Catherine, I'm excited that you have found a place in California! Safe travels as you head to Kansas.

I am a happy camper after going to the Baseball All Star Parade!! Had a front row view! Tomorrow at 9 a.m. I will take my chair, water, sunscreen, books and plant myself in hopefully a good spot for the 1:30 induction ceremony! Sometimes you just have to be patient and wait. :)
