Good Morning all,
This is the first day of the month, so time for everybody to check in and at least say hi if nothing else. Let us know if you are still with us, what you have been doing even if nothing spectacular. Always enjoy reading what everybody's been doing and hearing from those of you who don't post much.
Chilly up here in MIchigamme this morning. We had a 14 degree drop in temps in the past 24 hours. Only about 48 right now. Been a cool week, but not too bad. Highs in 60's. Going into 70's for the weekend with perfect weather. For those who might be interested, the name Michigamme is of Indian origin and means "streaked water". The lake when the wind is blowing just right can actually get white streaks in it. Mix of wind and foam action from the tannic acid in the water. The name Michigamme is pronounced "Michi-gaw-me".
The pups and i are heading to Ishpeming, another Indian named town meaning the high place due to it's elevation among other things, to do some shopping this morning Not sure if I will go to Marquette or not. Going to be more traffic out today being the beginning of a holiday weekend as well as a lot of people shopping for the weekends BBQ's, picnics and what not. Tomorrow is our last day here as we leave on Sunday, so will be sticking around here. People are staring to arrive for the weekend. Pups and I have had the place to ourselves till yesterday. They have been having a ball running and playing and enjoying walks off leash. Piper has even gotten used to the lake and wades right in.
We took our ride up to check out the State Park I had reservations for in August and I wasn't overly impressed with it. Campsites are close together in the wooded area and even in the open areas along the lake. Some sites are not level either. There are quite a number of hardtopped sites in the wooded areas but there isn't much room on either side of the site to do much. If you want privacy it's a good area. Did see a few nice sites on the lake though. The site I had reserved turned out to be not so great, with dips and even a little bif of gully in a couple of places. So decided that although it's a beautiful place on Lake Superior, not worth making a trip just to go there. If one is up in that area, then maybe get a site ahead of time as the lake ones book early. So cancelled the reservation. Will do something else. Thinking of possible places to disappear to.
Okay, enough jabbering here. Need to get a move on, get dressed and ready to head out. Y'all have a nice day and a great weekend if you can. Some I know are in excessive heat and some will be having rains, but guess we have to make the best of what we are dealt
And stay safe on the roads too.

Mornin' Sue and all that follow ~~~
Totally forgot about the rabbits rollcall today. Yesterday was the end of our fiscal year, and I've been at work since 6 AM, validating our semi-annual dues billings. Beautiful weather around here this weekend (to me). mid-70's, and would be great to keep the windows open but I'd bet on having to shut the windows because of stupid people and their fireworks. I love how they aim the fireworks at everyone else's home. Fire them at your own home!
Will have to see how Punkin handles the noises. Zorro doesn't get phased.
Not much else going on. Got a different go live date yesterday for my stupid project from he_ _ . Will need to talk to the boss about my October vaycay, but she's up in Mackinaw this weekend. Wish it were me.
Have a good day and safe holiday weekend ladies.

Morning Sue, Cheryl and all that follow -
I am still working, busy with all the storms -- My daughter and grandkids leave in the morning for a 4 day camp out with my trailer and SUV -- Oh well, one day it will be me! I am looking for a new SUV thinking the Jeep Gr. Cherokee -- Right now I have a 14' trailer but would like to get something just a tad bigger, maybe a 16' with a dedicated bed and a table.
It is a beautiful day here in MN, going home tonight for Sat. and back to work Sunday a.m. and Monday as usual. Haven't been home for 3 weeks, so will be nice to be back, even for just the day.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and safe travels.

Good Morning Sue and Everyone, Last day of travels, have had a great trip on good roads with very little traffic. Today is just under 200 miles and sure to be lots of traffic, letting gps take me on a back roads route, most I know, some I am not sure of but thinking less traffic and nicer countryside down in this tourist state, there are still some areas that still looks like the state , I lived in and loved for years.
I also expect rain this afternoon. Had some yesterday but not bad. No real news here have enjoyed my trip, both nights choices for stops were good ones. GPS informed me from my drive to DDs was 620 miles. First day, most of that is 2 lane switchback type travel up and then down over two mountain ranges. Not mts like out west but in driving them(those out west) haven't driven a road near as twisty or grade to match (yet). So first days stop was shortly after I was through most the mt route, which turned out to be about same travel time as yesterday, and only half the miles.
Need to get moving here, I checked in
now checking out.
Wishing you all a great day,
CArol
Two of you got in ahead of me, so my good morning is kind of partial, but will leave it, have to get out of here, you'll have to be part of the "everyone"

Good first day of July! Already?! Not sure where June went and how fast it went! Finally got things settled with the insurance company and talked to Jim about getting things moving to fix Lola's awning. I spent most of Wed afternoon playing with that! Sure don't like the new way they handle claims but got it done. So yesterday SIL went to lunch and did some shopping. I finally found the skinny water containers I've been looking for to carry water for the boys when we travel. Space saving. When I got home my older dog had chewed on himself and has a big "hot spot" on his back. So am waiting to call the vet's office when they open. I've gone through this with him before. I don't want to go through the 3 day week end and chance it getting worst. Poor baby.
Sue, sounds like you are still having a good time and relaxing. Good for you! To bad about the other location you were planning to go to in August but gives you time to think of something else! CArol, quite a trip you're having! I remember coming into NC on, I think, 40! We were coming back from picking up DH's 26 ft GMC and those mountains were scary! At least from the passenger's point of view! He handled it well, me, not so much!
Well, about time to get on the phone so will quit rambling here and get to it! Hope everyone has a great 4th! No plans here, just trying to keep dogs calm with the fireworks I know will be going off the next few evenings! Travel safe!

I remembered to say Rabbits! Only because I had laid out all the bills last night so I could pay them while I drank my morning coffee. Can’t believe it’s July and I have been retired for almost six months and I haven’t accomplished half of the things that I was going to get done. Oh well…there’s always tomorrow. Not much is going on around here. This afternoon I’m going to bartend from 1-6…made that commitment before I was invited to spend the day boating with friends. Bummer. My sister is coming for the weekend but we don’t have any plans for the holiday. I couldn’t make camping reservations because at the time the 90 day window opened up for reservations my credit card had been hacked and I didn’t have a new one yet. Sites for the 4th weekend go fast! I think we’ll probably have Bronc overnight on Saturday so Ryan and Ashley can go the Bull-o-rama and street dance in a neighboring town.
Have a happy and safe holiday!

Good morning from the cool and breezy Oregon coast! Looks like it will be a beautiful day here. I hope to meet up with Karen and Laura in Florence today. I've been driving into town every day for some phone and internet service. I kind of regret reserving here all weekend. Didn't realize I would have no service. I've already hiked the two trails here and paddled the lake twice...but really too windy to enjoy.
I turned on my iPad in the night to read a book when I couldn't sleep....saw it was the 1st and remembered rabbits! First time ever, I think, lol.
Safe travels to those on the road, and hope those in the oppressive heat get a break.

Good Morning All, Checking in here to let you know that things are the same for me. I'm going to stay home this week end and just enjoy all the others out raising H#$*^. Watching them that is.
Cool here this morning..o'cast as usual. Sun will be out later. Dog and cat are both frightened by fireworks so want to stay close and cuddle them.
Yankees in town this week end so ball park will be full. The All Star game is here in PetCo Park this year. As you all know I live one block away from the park. In next few days I will give directions on how to see my condo building on TV. If you are interested in doing so.
I continue to go down and take the trailer out for a spin. Driving it is easy, but backing up still needs work so that is what I am practicing. It has one more trip to the shop to get a new seven pin plug put on, otherwise I'm ready to go camping! Just need to load the food.
I too enjoy reading about what all of you are doing.,.,.,wish I had a more interesting life to share!

Good Morning,
I remembered to say Rabbits! After getting through June without any real problems, I'm hoping the same for July.
Pat, I haven't accomplished as much as I intended while here for a break, but have to 'blame' weather and bugs for some of that.
O'Sharon, glad you are done with the insurance claim. CArol, glad you are having such an enjoyable trip! Cheryl, I hear you about fireworks!
I took a short drive to a wildlife refuge yesterday. Their 8-mile wildlife loop was closed about a mile into it. Did enjoy what I saw and not sure I'd have survived 8 miles, driving slow - bugs!! Park is filling up for the weekend - already one drunken incident posted on the Thousand Trails FB page (wasn't in the area I am in). I am amazed at the expensive rigs some of these young families have.
Today marks the 13th anniversary of Steven's passing.
Memories live on and it's hard to believe I have been on my own that long. On a happy note, it is my grandson's 17th birthday - he is doing so well after the bumpy road many months ago.
Make it a great day, hope you have a peaceful weekend along with the fur babies, and safe travels.
Ah, Liz and Lyn snuck in! Lyn, I didn't realize you were so close to PetCo - yes, I want to look for you on TV! Liz, sit back, relax
.

Rabbits!! July already!
Got a text message from the guy I met saying he didn't think there was a connection between us.
Too bad about that since I liked him but if he isn't feeling it, then time to move on.
Talked to a woman this morning from Adult Protection. She had some very good information that I wasn't aware of. Hopefully my brothers will now think harder about taking my dad to court for guardianship.
Another beautiful day out! Actually a bit chilly this morning but will be near 80 later. Supposed to be the same all thru the 4th of July here. I work all weekend (except Monday) and I am sure it will be on the quiet side. Lots of people heading up north to cabins already.
My hours at work will be cut back to part time (4 day work week) sometime in July. That will help me physically and mentally but financially will be really tight until I can find a cheaper place to move to. Hoping there will be some ads showing up tomorrow on CL as people give notice today on their places.
Hope you all have a great weekend what ever your plans are! Stay safe!

Good morning ladies
First day of travel was not uneventful, we stopped in Chloride, NV to look around and have lunch. However after we left, it wasn't 20 min. down the road and 3 of us got sick
from eating at Yesterdays Cafe. We depleted the flushing water in the holding tank and shortly after had issues with the tires. The rest of the story is under campground recommendations, titled Kudos to Big O tires. Very interesting adventure so far. I did say rabbits, many times! I woke up a hundred times during the night and each time I whispered rabbits, I had no idea what time it was but I figured one of them has to count.
Well guess we'll walk down to McDonalds, these boys are still hungry after consuming
two boxes of cereal bars and a box of fruit roll ups. Lol, thankfully I had that as we did not get to Walmart for milk and other stuff. That's the next stop after we leave here cause we need to buy a hose.
Y'all enjoy your day, be safe

I forgot to say Rabbits and I was up past mid-night. I remember thinking that the year is half over. Time flies when you're having fun. lol
Sue, my sister and I have learned that camping is so much better during the week. We let the crazy people have the weekends. If the weather is good they will be skiing and riding tubes. The bass boats will be flying in the boat lanes. Today there will be many RV's headed South to the state park. I didn't look but I bet the campground is full.
CArol, have a good rest of your trip. Be careful today because everyone will be on the roads.
Yesterday I went and sprayed Round-up on the property we have North of here. I got too hot and I was only there about 30 minutes. Harold was spraying around here the other day and went through 5 shirts. He would go out and get soaked with sweat, come in to cool off and change shirts. I'm going to find him passed out one of these days. When I got back to town I needed to pick up some things. I almost just came home but made myself go to the store. I'm glad this morning because I don't have to go to town.
Ava, hope the rest of your trip is better. My son and I got food poisoning on a trip. We checked into a hotel and though we were going to die. Never order fish with a crawfish sauce unless you are in South Louisiana.
Everyone have a good 4th of July weekend.
Martha

I forgot rabbits! Too busy saying 'good morning' to The William.
I have two good-sized garden beds plowed, tilled, partly planted, and mulched. Working on the semi-permanent paths now. Got a weed tree out but still have to plant the hydrangeas I want in that corner. Not too bad for such a short month (sick 10 days). Every day it seems like I get very little done, but it does add up!
Only daytrips planned for July. Saving my pennies to try for the southwest next winter!

Finished making sausage and pancakes for my crew--son, wife, and grandkids staying with me at Dillon Beach at Lawson's Landing. Beautiful view, but for $45 a night, you would expect at least electric and real bathrooms. All they have are portapotties, so really glad we are self-contained. I will wait until we shower kids later today and then dump tank and refill with fresh water.
Kids are anxious to get to beach, but I still have dishes to wash. Beautiful cool day here. Hope the huge furry black dog is not on beach today. Stupid lady owner lets him run free, which does not bother me. WHat DOES bother me is him coming over and slobbering over me and everyone else--yuck!! Had to wash it off in ocean, which is not best. And then he did it again! And stupid lady weakly calls him back, and of course, he is not trained so completely ignores her. If you are going to let your dog run free, you need to at least have him under verbal control, and probably not own such a huge dog. (I owned dogs for years, and all were very well trained to stop, stay, and come, so I know it can be done.)

Hi all,
Not much to report here.
I almost did a crazy thing - like buying a condo, but the owner took a cash offer over mine. In order to stablize my housing costs out here, I need to buy something - just got notice that rent will go up $150/month in Sept - ouch! Oh well, I wasn't really looking but thought I'd check 1 unit out, liked it, bid on it & lost. Just clarifies my decision for my KS house. Will go back in Aug, spiff it up & get it on the market. It hasn't appreciated in the 15 years I've owned it while property out here keeps going up.
Not doing much this weekend - just cleaning. Going to give the baby more run of the place so need to do some baby-proofing & floor scrubbing. She no longer toddles but runs & like to roam around so her gated area in my living room just isn't going to work much longer. Will probably visit some of the regional parks & maybe even make a beach run some early morning.
Hope everyone stays safe & cool.
Take care,
Catherine
