Happy Summer Solstice - or - Strawberry Moon Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Summer Solstice - or - Strawberry Moon Day

Mornin' ladies ~~~

Summer is officially here - or - Strawberry Moon Day. A strawberry moon is when the longest day of the year, known as the summer solstice, also happens to have a full moon. Once in a lifetime or so they say. (who's they?)

Temps are definitely saying summer here. My cousin outside of Phoenix texted me with their forecast for the this week:
Wednesday - 103
Thursday - 135
Friday - 210
Saturday - On fire
Sunday - We Die
Glad I'm not out there. Here is bad enough.

Stay cool, stay safe and have a happy Summer!
Cheryl

Cooling Down Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jun 20, 2016 7:10 am

Good Morning,

Cloudy here, some showers moving in. We need d the rain. Errands to run this morning and then home. Garage organizing is on the agenda today. Then will be moving and reinstalling some of the dog fence. They were out just having a ball in the yard on other side of house when we started our walk the other day, so I know they need a bigger area. Plus lights on that side of house and garage too. Need to make some calls to a couple builders to see if one can redo the back door landing area. Then tear off some of the existing decking, as too many levels. Also want to call my tree guy out, small trees to get out. Hauled a mess of old plywood shrub covers out to road yesterday and hope somebody takes off with them. I know trash guys won't.

Nice to be reading about some travels and camping trips. O'Sharon, sounds like you and Carolb had a close and up personal encounter with nature. Always neat to see. From inside of course  Hope you get your awning fixed. I need to hook up my trailer to electric and charge battery too. Leaving for U.P. Next Sunday for a week, sans trailer. Trailer will be heading out of he following week for a couple days.

This me to wash hair and get moving here. Brain is off on today's business, so can't think of anything to add here. Have a great day.

It's a perfect first day of summer morning here. The weekend was hot and sticky but thunderstorms rolled across the area last night bringing in fresh cool air. We have had so much rain in the last 6 weeks that we can't keep up with the lawn mowing and weed trimming. Then of course the belt on the lawn mower broke so that gave nature another several days to thrive. I suspect we will be mowing all day today. Had the little grand daughter this weekend. Saturday was a fun day but yesterday her frustration level was high. Because of the heat and humidity we stayed indoors in the ac but she wanted to be outdoors and fussed constantly by the front door and then would be set off into tears when we would say no. Also if toy didn't work start wailing in frustration. I was exhausted when she went home. I so love taking care of her though. Our church festival is coming up soon and I volunteered to chair the second shift of dining room workers. This means I have to call all the volunteers on my list and confirm they will be there or cross the name off if they are unavailable. This is something I am not looking forward to doing. I have never enjoyed spending time on the phone. I only use it when I have too. Hope this doesn't take forever. I so prefer emails. No camping trips in sight for us yet this summer. Hope after mid July we can get several in. I am so anxious to get back to Yuma so we can start putting our imprint on the trailer. Enjoy this longest day of the year.

Good morning everyone... was raining early this morning but now cleared up pretty decent it's 81 already but it's not going to get in the nineties ...today... yesterday I washed the back half and one side of my rig at 6:30 a.m. did the same this morning with the other half in the front it's the best time to do it it's daylight and the sun's not beating down on you yet ...this Florida sun is getting to me.... put in a load of laundry the rugs from the house & the rig... I sprayed the weeds in the back by the wall you have to do that every couple weeks to keep it looking nice the way Carolb fixed it for me...Pheebe was cooped up all day yesterday so early evening I took her over to Wickham Park let her run her energy off ...my oh my that girl's got a lot of energy... I really need to get busy in the Florida room organizing my stuff trying to get some of it out to the shed I do not understand why my dad does not let me get rid of stuff that he's never ever going to use again I could do a yard sale donate it or give it to his friend he can barely walk out to the shed let alone use anything in it I'm very frustrated to say the least course you already know that... well I better get going everybody have a good day &B safe...donna

It's going to be another hot one today but not into the 100's yet. Last year I don't think we got much over 100 a few times. I have seen summers of 104 temperatures. The radar shows rain all around us. This time of year we have the afternoon scattered showers. Yesterday there were places close to us that got an inch of rain and we didn't get any. Ava, I don't know how you stand 118. If your air conditioning went out you could die. There have already been 3 kids that have died in vehicles in Louisiana in the last 2 weeks. Two were kids that I think were playing and locked themselves in a truck. My older son and a friend locked themselves in the saddle compartment of a horse trailer when they were about 8 or 9. My son had a big metal buckle and he used it to pry the door open. We were very lucky. I was working and Harold was working at the barn.

Donna, when I had a 27' motorhome I had to wash it half one day and half the next. The one I have now I can usually get it all in one day. I have bought wax several times but that darn stuff won't get on there by itself. I had a slow leak in one of my tires on my last trip. Yesterday I mixed up a bottle of soapy water and I think I found the leak. It looked like one of the tire sensors was letting air out. I haven't been out to check it yet. That tire sensor system makes me lose my religion every time I have to program a new sensor. I had to reprogram all of them. As aggravating as it is I don't want to travel without it.

I need to go to town but am waiting for Harold to get back to see if he wants some lunch. I don't want him dropping the leftovers in the floor. Yesterday he dumped half a box of cereal in the floor.

On a split shift today. Sunny, cooler, low humidity and breezy! Very nice compare to the weekend! Some nasty storms last night up north with a tornado or two and 3" diameter hail near where I will be camping! Hope the storms are done now for awhile.

Got a lot done yesterday for the trip but still more to do. Need to go to the storage room and see what I have in there that I will need. I hope I have enough room in my Jeep for everything! Camping trips are a lot of work!

Have a good day and those down south and out west, stay cool! :D

Good Afternoon,

Martha, it seems the more gizmos we have, the more trouble we have! When they rotated my tires on the truck, the onboard sensor went nuts so can't rely on it. Rita, there is a reason we can send the grandkids home even though we enjoy them! :) Sue, always envy you your trips to the UP. Maybe again one day I'll do that.

I don't like running the A/C, but yesterday I promised myself I would today because otherwise I get nothing done in here. Did one load of laundry this morning then washed the back of the camper. They will allow my laundry rack (attaches to ladder) here and I'd much rather let clothes dry that way. I will be happy to wash one side of the rig a day - waiting for a cloudy day for the front.

Feels rather strange to not be setting an alarm clock and being on the run!!

All you hot weather gals, stay cool!
