Friday Again

Gee, seems like I was just writing about it being Friday last week and here it is, Friday again. And Memorial Day weekend to boot. Time is moving along here, but then it's been a busy month or should say past couple of months. And before I go any farther, I want to say that the saga of the houses is over. After having that inspection done on the lake house which uncovered a lot of issues needing to be addressed and i could see the money I would have had from the selling of this house and buying of that one, totally going out the window, i backed away. Don't need or want to get into that kind of stuff at my age. Not to mention the owner leaving everything behind so would take about 3 or 4 days of just clearing that house out so I could move in. So since my house was already sold and the neighbor happening to list hers, I decided to put in an offer on that one instead. The house was under a contingency offer and the people made an effort to raise the funds and buy the house despite theirs not being sold yet, but were unable to do so within the required time period. So the house next door is now mine and we will be closing around June 9th. It's about 7-800 square feet smaller than mine, has about the same amount of property, but only about a quarter of it is in yard, the rest is woods, which cuts down on yard maintence dramatically. It's in turn key condition, so nothing needing done other than a few little things I want to do. So it is a better deal all the way around. Granted no lake, but one has to sometimes look out for one's best interests. This home will leave me some green to start an emergency fund and also put some into my travel funds :D So it's a good fit. Also has plenty of room to park my trailer as well. Will be fencing in a new area for the dogs to roam and this time they can see what's going on out front as well. And I don't have to leave the neighborhood I love.

Nikki, sounds like you are getting your decision made too. Go for it girl. Had the neighbors house fallen through for me, that was to be my next plan. Store this stuff and go. Betty, sounds like you also are getting things in order, testing the waters too, in prep for hitting the road. You go girls :D I'll be rolling in July. Need to spend some time in my trailer giving it a spring cleaning and prepping for the season. I can also picture Ava dancing with joy as she's now free for the summer and is going to have a wonderful one at that.

Gonna be warm day again, showers and t-storms supposed to pop up again this afternoon. Sold my little wagon I wasn't using in the garage sale at neighbors yesterday and have a few more things in there as well. I"m just about all packed up, so now can relax a bit and enjoy life till moving. Heading to bank and town later on. Want to get a few flower sand start some planters that I can move with me. Already have a hanging basket started and it's finally getting it's act together after the in and out and in to the house one night scenerio from cold weather we had a week ago. Poor thing.

So, gonna get moving here. Hey, y'all have a great holiday weekend out there. Just keep an eye on the crazy weather though, some areas are nasty. If you are out camping or whatever, have a great time.

Sue, I'm so happy for you, just so so happy for you. And thank you for the encouragement.

Martha, congrats on the one that didn't get away. You have me craving fresh caught fish. Glad you got home before dark. The forecast has been for rain the past few days, but we haven't seen much. There's a 40 per cent chance of rain during the next few hours. Cloudy tomorrow and then a full week of rain, or so says the weather app. I'll believe it when I see it.

Happy trails to all, and to all a good....everything. A very very good everything.

Tails up? Start your engines,
Nikki

Good morning! So happy for you, Sue! Sounds like everything is finally working out for you. It's been quite a roller coaster ride! But bet you're glad things are settled now! Now just for the move! Not sure I could have stayed as calm as you!

I decided to run away from home yesterday afternoon! I needed dog food so called SIL and we went over to Altoona and played around over there and went out for dinner. We never got into any rain but on the way home we got into an area that had rain but none apparently here. They did say scattered showers! More of the same today so we'll see what we get. The sun is out right now but who knows what'll happen later! They say 40% chance of afternoon showers. But I'm so enjoying this warmth! :D

Not sure what I'll get into today but whatever it is it'll be outside! Still plenty to do out there! Enjoyed all the photos of Liz's trip to Sedona, thanks for taking us along! Mickie, hope you can get your asthma under control and not have to move north. I saw where you lived in IL, not far from where I spent several years when I was in grade school. My dad was stationed at Chanute in Rantoul for several years.

Okay, time to get a move on and get busy! Hope everyone has a good day, travel safe and stay out of the way of the nasty weather!

Good morning ladies, absolutely wonderful to actually have the time to enjoy my coffee this morning. Nothing is on the agenda today. Feels good. Bill and I have decided with the warnings from our sheriff we have put on hold our ATV excursions of the back roads in our county to the soutgh of us. That doesn't mean were going to stop, just go north and check out places not so close to home. Eventually the cartel assassins will be under lock and key and life can resume as normal. Besides, we got the motorhome
running and next on the agenda is tags and insurance. :D
Off to check the bird feeders and start my day of nothing. Y'all enjoy yours

Sue - that is wonderful news, so very happy for you!!

Othersharon - my dad was stationed at Chanute, that's how I ended up in IL. Wonder if we were there at the same time?? We came back from Aviano Italy to Chanute in 1973, I was 13.

Good Morning! My hinder is dragging today! Last night I bartended from 6 to closing for our friends. Usually I only will only work days but Pam wanted to go fishing with Jim because the walleye are biting heavy in the evenings. Jim told me that Thursday nights are really slow after about 7:30 when the happy hour crowd leaves so I relented. Also, I had more or less left them in the lurch four days at the beginning of the month when I was gone. Well there must have been something in the air! The happy hour crew stayed until well after 9:30. Several wives had to be called for rides home. It seemed that everyone else in town mowed their lawn because it was the first evening all week that the grass wasn’t wet, then decided to come to the bar for drinks and a pizza and brought their kids who wanted Shirley Temples or Roy Rogers. Then a table of 8 women came in and they all wanted off the wall drinks and of course every one of them paid separately. I was ready to tell them…You’re all going to drink beer and you’re all going to drink the same kind. People were playing the video lottery machines and were asking for change or cashing in. At one point I did a quick head count and there were about 40 people. All I can say is that I’m very happy that they were all local yokels and everyone was patient with the out of practice bartender! Finally about 11:30 all but two of them went home. My legs are killing me today. But am happy for Pam….look at the monster walleye she caught….an 8 pounder. Four in the boat and they all caught their limit. I’d better get invited to the fish fry.

Had a call from my sister yesterday. A storm went through Wednesday night. We had some wind and small hail but as it headed east it increased in intensity and at her house there were three trees down. One on the roof. The garage door was blown in and a couple of windows were out.

So that’s what’s been going on in my little corner of the world. Remember Camp Cihak is open.

Mickie, my brother was in Aviano in the early 70's. My older son must have been paying more attention to his Uncle than I knew. When he joined the Air Force his goal was to get to Aviano. He did two tours there before he retired.

Pat, your night of bartending sounds like fun. :? I worked at a soda fountain the summer I graduated from high school and that was enough for me. People were lucky to get what they ordered.

The wind is blowing like crazy today. I thought it was raining it is making so much noise. The rain is still in Texas and North Louisiana. I don't know if we will get any or not. There is something off the East Coast so guess we have to start watching the storms in the Atlantic already.

Congratulations, Sue, on your carefully thought-out decision.

I am at valley of Fire SP, Nevada for the holiday weekend. I came in early Wednesday and had a choice of sites....all first-come, first-serve. I have a nice pull-through with electric and water. It is a beautiful park, and I have a system figured out. I've been going out just after sunrise to do my hikes on the popular trails. It's cool, and I have had them all to myself. When it gets too hot, I come back to the RV that already has the AC running for Thistle. During the busiest part of the weekend I have a couple more remote, less heavily traveled trails picked out.

Except for the afternoon heat, the weather has been sunny and perfect.

Martha, that's fun that your brother and I were there at the same time! My dad was NCOIC of the base carpenter shop and he always did his best to treat his troops well; he knew they were homesick around the holidays so our family always ate Thanksgiving dinner with them in the mess hall, he also invited several of the fellas over for Christmas if they couldn't get leave to go home. They seemed to love being with a family that time of year since they couldn't be with their own.
