Good morning everyone... it looks like it will be nice day here on the East Coast of Florida again pretty nice weather... it's early I didn't sleep much last night my dad fell in the bathroom yesterday... and after an hour of struggling he finally let me call 9-1-1 for some help.... I am physically unable to lift him up...., thankfully he did not break any bones just scraped up his elbow and a bandaid fix that.... I don't know what to do we are here all alone no family I did try a neighbor but he didn't answer the door or his phone and I had no one else.... I guess I just needed to vent... not sure what I will do today have to make a few phone calls... might just go over to the beach for a little bit and look for a few shells for my daughter... sounds like her and my son in law will be here for Christmas a couple of days.. have a fun filled day & B safe....donna

Good Morning Donna,

Sorry to hear about your dad's fall. It becomes a big worry when one has an aging parent. Have you checked into one of those companies where he can get a button thing to wear around his neck and just press it for help if you don't happen to be there.

Molly and I are hitting the road for home today. Our week up here in the Upper Peninsula is over. Was a nice week, mixed bag of weather and all. But Molly had a blast running through the woods and the snow that is here, less than 4 inches. I will post some pictures later after we get home. Needless to say she isn't going to be happy getting back home as back to the fenced yard and leash, although I miss the fenced yard here for those times when she just wants to go out side and lay around. Everything's all packed and just sitting here waiting for daylight to make an appearance. Will take Molly for one last walk up the road and back and then will load up and go. Stopping for breakfast, gas, one store to stock up on ground beef which is on sale at good price here and then off we go. Hope you all have a nice day today :)

Good morning all. Donna, sorry to hear about your dad's fall yesterday. But glad it wasn't worst. And Sue, you're heading home. Sounds like you and Molly had a nice week. I had quite a day yesterday, got up and flipped the switch in the bathroom and it went poof. No lights, so started checking other things upstairs and some worked and some didn't. So ran to the basement and checked the breaker box, all good there, back upstairs and the same thing on the first floor. Anyway, I asked my neighbor to come over and he checked but didn't have his meter at home so didn't know what was going on. Figured at that point I'd call my son and he and wife came up about 2:30 and discovered that one line coming into the house was dead. Call to electric company and after about 2 hours someone came. After a bunch of checking it turned out that a branch from the tree next door rubbed on the line and shorted it out. So by 6:15 I had power, in the whole house. Have I mentioned that I beginning to hate these trees?!! DS asked me if I was ready to move! My answer was yes but not yet. I'm still trying to weed out things in the house. His reply was that if I move I can go away in the winter if I want and not worry about a house. The good thing, I guess, is that they are all for me being able to take off when I want! I'm lucky my kids embrace my want to travel and encourage rather then discourage. So right now my head is spinning. This isn't something that will happen now but rather in the next couple of years. They still have to finish building their house and then we'll work on what I'll do. I'm just grateful they are comfortable to suggest this plan. So anyway, that was my day yesterday! Just hoping this week is without anymore drama! At least not of that magnitude! Well, time for another cup of coffee and figure out what I want to do today. Hope everyone has a good day and travel safe if you are on the road.

Good morning ladies,

Gloomy and grey here today. The rain is supposed to come in later this afternoon/evening and get really heavy around 7-8 pm. At least it won't be when I am out in it with dogs!

Sue, sounds like you and Molly had a wonderful time in the U.P. I love watching my dogs run free and explore when we take them to a nearby trail that has a fence on both sides. Buddy comes back when I call and Jessa did too but Molly not so much. She seems to be determined to find those birds she is sure are hiding in the weeds along the trail. She does stop and wait for us to catch her up though. Shooter never leaves DH's side.

Donna, how worrisome that your Dad fell. So glad it was only a scraped elbow and not worse than that. I agree with O'sharon, look into those alert systems, but be ready for him to tell you he doesn't wear it. My MIL has one and fell outside on her front porch. Not many of the neighbors were home and she laid there until one young boy heard her calling for help and came and called 9-1-1. I asked why she didn't use her button, she said she didn't have it on. My friend Daun also has a button thing but she's much more diligent about wearing hers.

O'sharon, no electric! Hope it didn't get too cool inside your house! Good that the company was able to find and fix the problem.

It's the same old, same old here today and that is getting old for me!!!! I want to be out and travelling somewhere and seeing things but I'm still stuck home. And the approaching Christmas holiday isn't helping; I have never been a fan of Christmas. At least I'll be spending it among pleasant company. SIL is having it and most of the family that was together at T'giving will be there. I thank the Good Lord for my DH's family; without them, I would be without any support.

Had a nice lunch with friends yesterday and DH of course cooked way too much food. Guess who's having lots of leftovers tonight for supper? After cleaning up the few odds and ends, I watched the Seahawks/Steelers game. Just needed a football fix and the Bears weren't playing. Pretty good game, too.

That's about all from here, everyone take care,
Kathy

Good Morning everyone... did not post yesterday as I was trying to get warm after going out to church in the am.... I will have to figure out a way to warm the car up as it is in a garage now... when I went out to go to church I just got in and drove off... the car did not get warm until I was about a mile from my destination... hmmmm have to figure that one out... am spoiled with my remote start...

What a worry Sharon, with electric going off... glad it was a problem outside! Sue sounds like you had a nice get away for the winter... will look forward to pictures... Carol you lucked out being able to stay at your sisters place and you will be able to use some of your boundless energy!! Donna I Agree with Sue, have you thought of getting your dad an emergency button... I have one but have not had to use it only to test once a month... I can foresee that it would come in handy if I cannot get up when I fall... so far have been able to get to a chair and pull myself up... that must have been a scary thing for you not to mention your dad...

I plan to stay warm and cozy here in my new home... the mail lady should be bringing me some more packages as I have done a lot of shopping on line... she even brings them in and puts them by my door... my sliding glass door opens to the parking lot, mail boxes and garage so it is less than 10 steps to all... ah how good is that!!

Have a great day and stay warm...

Hey there Kathy you snuck in while I was posting... had to come back and edit!!

I got my dad a Life Station bracelet (has a band like a watch) which he wears all the time.

Just bracing for a snowstorm here later on. Up to 10 inches of snow for our first storm of the season! Luckily, it is going to stay fairly warm all week so it will melt quickly.

Off to work now, have a great day! :D

Good Morning!

My pain in the neck neighbor just pulled out - Woohoo!!

Cloudy but no rain for now. About had enough I think.

Donna, sorry about your dad, but sounds like he was lucky! Sue, sorry your UP visit has ended - just always sounds so relaxing. O'Sharon, for me, I wasted a lot of time trying to 'take care of things' before I hit the road. In the long run, none of it mattered once the girls took what they wanted. Kathleen, so happy to have you back on here! Kathy, you picked a good game to watch - especially since the Seahawks won! :D

Have jumped into the genealogy preparing copies for a cousin and trying to figure out piecing two programs together to save the entire thing.

Everyone enjoy your day! Safe travels to those on the road - thinking of Liz as she heads this way!

Sitting in motorhome at Willow Beach Marina and Campground, about 15 miles south of Hoover Dam. I can see a tiny bit of the Colorado river from my site and am enjoying satellite TV. No cell service, but they do have free WiFi here, and with my booster, I have a good signal. Life is good! Really cold here, however, but at least it is sunny and air is clear. Hope to see a couple of desert bighorn sheep like I saw last time I was here.

Won't be meeting up with my cousin because he and his wife are in Quartzite. His oldest daughter passed away in California, which upset their schedule. I've got a ton of work to get done by the end of the semester, which is coming up in two weeks. After that I will have three free weeks and then another couple of slow weeks of teaching, which will be nice. I have had almost no time for reading. I had thought when I retired (at least partially retired) I would have so much time for reading, but had not worked out like that. Got my suitcase, and two duffel bags drying in RV and will put them out on picnic table in the sun today and then put them in plastic bags and put them back in storage area, which I HOPE is no longer leaking with the extra weather stripping I added.

And got a $34 RV wash at Blue Beacon, so the RV shines like it was brand new! All the bugs and dirt and dust are gone. Just makes me feel good to have a clean vehicle. Other than grading papers, I need to sand the rust off my driver's side running board/entry step and then spray paint it with Rustoleum. Got all the stuff, just need to get it done.
