Thank goodness it's Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thank goodness it's Wednesday

Good morning all,

Well thank the Good Lord for watching over my Cody yesterday. At breakfast she ate ok but after I turned her out was dull and refused to eat-not even when I took out a handful of grain. Thought it might be arthritis pain from the weather so I gave her some antinflammatory paste. After a while, she's not looking any better and keeps coming into the barn doorway and just looking at me, like "help me Mom I hurt." Got on the phone with vet and within 15 min. they were out. Ms. Cody was colicking, which is a really big deal in horses. Spent all the rest of yesterday hand walking her and keeping an eye out for her to feel better. She finally turned a corner around lunchtime, got fed watered hay at 3:30 and again at 6 pm. Back to her diva self today!

I got nothing done yesterday except make the soup, (also thank you Lord for telling me to get it going early) and take care of my dog walk clients. Focused on Cody all the rest of the day and into the night. Feel like we really dodged a bullet, as colic can sometimes be a death sentence in horses.

That's all from me for this morning, everyone take care
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Good Morning !!! Woke to hard rain again this morning, but for just a few minutes yesterday the sun came out, and then rain again. If I had blinked would have missed it :o such a nice surprise. Supposed to be our last day of rain until Saturday evening or so and then all day Sunday again. Its ok, I'm planning my chores around it. :)

So glad your Cody is ok, Kathy, yes they can die from it, I know a couple in years past who have and its awful, no matter all the walking or whatever, they didn't make it, sure was hoping your Cody yesterday would make it ok.

Can't set here this morning, was just so happy your horse ok, that had to comment. Hope all are well and staying safe in this unpredictable weather around the country.

Enjoy your day
CArol :)

BJ, the brush I used was the long handled one I have for my rv, so its not that bad, siding on my house is vinyl and they recommend not using a pressure washer on it, I have in the past, because it is so much faster and easier ;) but that poor thing wore out and gone now, so gotta do it the right way. :D

good morning ladies
oh Kathy, very familiar with the colic thing, have spent my share of time walking out a colicky horse. Glad it turned
out well for you and Cody.
Different schedule for me today, high school has testing this morning so only the students doing the test go in, the
rest go in at noon, they get to spend a whole two hours in school and its time to go home. None of mine are testing
as they are special ed. I only have three going in at noon, the rest are staying home. Days like this don't happen
often but it certainly screws up my day as I won't have time to come home during the middle of the day to visit
Maggie or the kitty. It will make for a long day. My elementary school gives me enough challenges to keep me in
a mental state of confusion, with this new program this year. Some wheelchair students have to have a nurse ride
the bus with them and stay with them all day. I have two on my bus that share the same nurse, so.....if one doesn't
go the nurse has to park her car at the other ones house so she has it when we drop off. I have one that only rides
in 3 days a week and goes home early so that one dictates who gets picked up first/last. Then the other one doesn't
go in at all every tuesday. Makes me crazy! But the school district gets millions of $$ for this program, and of course
thats a good thing. I would just prefer my schedule be the same every day cause I don't want to have to think it out
every morning, its just too draining, but it is what it is.
Next year I can retire.
Well, ya'll have a good day, be safe.

Good Morning, Kath, CArol Alice and all who follow,

Rain and wind is he word here this morning, tonight and tomorrow. Might have some white stuff mixed in tonight. But I have all my outside fall chores done now, so don't care. Leaves on a couple of trees have yet to come down, so will be cleaning them up for awhile yet and the burlapping of shrubs won't happen till we start getting close to more serious snow. So can just putter with odds and ends now. Today I have the option of doing nothing or getting into a few little winterizing projects here in the house. Will probably do some of that as want to get it done. Mostly the installation of those plastic shrink with the hair dryer inside storm windows in my breezeway and a bit of caulking along the bottom of the door sill where it meets the carpeting. Got a bird feeder put up for the birds yesterday with some peanut suet on the sides. Havne't filled the feeder as yet though. Wont be any birds around in this weather anyway. Been a few years since I have done that.

See a number of you are hauling out the crockpots again. I am gong to put a roast in mine in a little while. Yes, good time of year to use them although I do use mine once in a while in summer too. Prk ribs do great in them with justa little BBQ sauce over them. Kathy, how did you fix that ham and baked beans you made in yours. Would love the recipe.

Hope the last camping trip of the year gets off the ground for Kathy, Eileen and Cheryl. Might need the long johns though. Ad Sarah and Mitch, hope you can start for home pretty soon, JudyJB, be careful heading south, same for you Anita. Still pretty wet in some places. hope all those who have health issues are on the mend and anyone else traveling, keep safe on the roads. Time to get busy here, so will wish you all a nice day :)

Kathy: glad your Cody turned the corner, hope it's all over and he's healthy as a horse today. (Couldn't resist that one.) Cool & rainy here today, but we have the windows open to air out: I made curry chicken last night and the house still stinks!
Got groceries for the weekend camping yesterday but a friend stopped by last night and we drank much of one of the bottles of wine so I'll have to get some more!! Cutting out the 2nd of 6 lap quilts for Christmas today. 1 top done, will layer & quilt them all when the tops are done, assembly-line fashion.
Stay safe, warm & dry today, ladies.

Good Morning everyone - It is raining here today but weather has been mild to this point. Have been working around the house just like everyone else. Have to get the shrink wrap for the windows today and get that done. Birthday party on Sat. for my daughter and granddaughter. I am planning on pulled pork in the crock pot, cole slaw, chips and fruit. Making an ice cream sandwich cake for the desert, which of course everyone loves.

Was offered an 8 wk. job in Phoenix starting Monday  think I will turn it down. Granddaughter is going to have surgery and I will need to be around then. Hope to take a trip to somewhere, either this year yet or if she has surgery in Nov. trip in Feb. or March. I didn't buy the trailer for it to sit in the driveway but Everything is so iffy!! :?

Kathy glad Cody is better- hope all is well with everyone!
Have a nice day all and safe travel to those on the road.

So glad Cody made it. Cody is very smart, making sure you saw the distress. Kudos to you both.

Light rains here overnight. Just sprinkling now. Badly needed. Didn't do anything yesterday, not even make the soup I planned :? Just a tad lazy and probably will remain so today. Walking amid the raindrops, reading, watching one of the very few tv stations. Might go into town just because I can, pick up some fresh fruits/veggies.

Ava, your schedule would make me crazy. With all the doctor's appointments I always feel like I'm missing something. I brought Harold to do blood work this morning for an appointment next week. While we were gone the doctors office called and moved his appointment to the 10th instead of the 4th. If they had called yesterday we could have waited until next week to do the blood work. At least the RV shop called while we were in Lafayette and I was able to pick it up. That saved me having to have someone bring me back to town. They said my air conditioner was full of mud dauber nests. I wonder what I could do to keep them out. My motorhome doesn't have a ladder so I can't get on top to cover it.

I need to get out my long handle brush and wash on the house again. I did the front last year because it was the worst. I'm afraid to use a pressure washer because the siding is so cheap I'm afraid I would get water behind it. If I was really ambitious I would put the weed eater together and weed my flower bed.

A kid that use to clean stalls for us came by. He's not a kid any more, he's almost 50. Boy does that make me feel old.
