Tuesdays and Fall's a Coming

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesdays and Fall's a Coming

Mornin' ladies ~

Hope everyone is doing well this A.M. I've been a little MIA lately (but lurking). Warm yesterday but temps dropping to low 60*s today.

Since the IN gtg, been dealing with Mom issue. She drove herself to the ER twice (once when I was in IN) and again last Friday. Lost her hearing overnight the first time, and last Friday, still couldn't hear, sores in her mouth, etc. Turns out it's shingles. Shingles in her ear causing the loss and doctor not sure if it will come back fully. Ironic that she just got her first hearing on (for the other ear) a month ago. At least it too shall pass, but she sure is cranky. Keeps telling me my attitude stinks and that she's knows she's a pain in the _ _ _, and I keep telling her I'm yelling so she can hear me! I've taken to typing IM notes on my phone and letter her read them.

Lyn so sorry for what's happening in your family right now. I have been sending prayers for you. Nice to see pic of smiling Kathleen. One of these days I'll catch her as I roll down 55 past her neck of the woods (or should I say farmland/prairie?).

Roberta - good job on the rig pic. Mickie & Mary - hang tight, I'm still pretty clueless too, but I second whoever suggested a pad for kneeling, a stool for sitting and patience :D if you want a bigger piece of rubber mat (than the garden mat), Home Depot & Menards has packages of 4 for the rubber flooring (1" thick) that are seen in playrooms and work area. Works for me & I can make as big as I want and have extras.

Sorry, can't remember everything else I've read lately, but glad everyone is safely on their journeys for the season.

Have a good day & stay safe on the roads.
Cheryl

Chilly Fall Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Sep 29, 2015 7:17 am

Good Morning,

Damp and chilly morning here. Fall weather has definitely arrived. More to my liking anyway. Hard to believe that this time last week, I was in Shipshewana enjoying a beautiful morning and company of good friends.

Nothing much on agenda here today. Run vac and pickup house, pay a credit card bill etc. may or may not go to town. Need to get a new door so neighbor can install it for me, beween my kitchen and breezeway, but don't want to haul it home if roads are wet.

Mickie, don't get discouraged with the RT just yet. We all have that learning curve. I had it with my first trailer and now again with this one as third hitching system over the years. Requires getting used to it. And I know IrishIroamed (Cheryl) is in same boat. We all manage to find way to adopt to certain things. Get the old brain to work and think up ways to do things. Like you said, you could do ANYTHING mentally back then. So just do it again now.

Velda, glad your DH is home and prayers for a smooth recovery. Lyn, hope you get to feeling better. Sarah, maybe you should move to Shipshewana, hahaha. I haven't gotten into the slow down and drive mode either. Usually haul to wherever I am going or do about 300 miles a day. Maybe it's cause I have an S&B yet and feel like I need to be back here eventually. Or I am just not a person to move slow yet.

Oh yes, another thing that works good for kneeling on is one of those kneeling pads you can use for gardening. Made out of foam. I have one in my trailer and have used it on occasion.

So, guess it's time to get online and pay that bill, spend some earned dollars at LLBean :D, get the wash out of washer and into dryer etc. You all have a nice day out there, safe travels to all on the road.

Morning, Cheryl and all who follow.

Rainy day here today, but they say it might clear for the weekend so that would be great! I could use some sunshine and blue skies, its been a very rainy summer here on the east coast of FL.

Mary is going in to her super busy time (happens the same time each semester) so I'm taking over all the home duties and will handle the registration and title stuff on Rosie by myself today. It's funny how, even though you have all the correct documentation in hand, there is always trepidation when dealing with the DMV.

It is trying to sprinkle on us here in New York State. Good thing most English Cockers like water. I can dry the dog beds out later. M and M, I have been thinking about you both. That not being able to use the knees changes so much. But between the two of you, new skills will be conquered. The best part is you have something that can get you out there on the road. You will most likely discover other things from experience and when it is time to get another rig...you will have a list of so many features that you "know" you need and those you know you want...... :)

Good morning ladies
It is raining in southern IL also, started late yesterday and doesn't look as if it will quit today. That is a shame as I have a beautiful campsite at Crab Orchard right on the lake. BJ was going to bring her rig out if weather cleared but I doubt it now. We will find other things to do later today.
I'll head out again tomorrow, slowly working my way home.

Good Morning to all. I'm up early here in Vegas, just couldn't stay in bed any longer. We are progressing with our new home. Have almost everything done. Just a few pictures to hang and then some more practical or pretty rearranging. Bill finished putting my new [to replace the one broken in the move] sewing machine cabinet together yesterday. Can't wait to use it. So that was the last big project.
Glad we are done with most things as I went to OBGYN yesterday - after waiting a month to see him The Doctor - to see if - and this is a quote - "could do anything for me." Well it turns out he can so Oct 8th I go for surgery. Looking forward to it and not looking forward to it. I don't seem to have good luck with surgery. This is almost the same problem I had eight years ago. And it took five surgeries and three different doctors and five different hospitals to fix it. The Doctor was the last one who worked on me that time - fixed the messes the others had made. So kind of nervous about it. The first surgery the doc knicked a vein and about killed me and didn't fix the problem, in fact made it worse!
But anyway - just have to finish a few things and clean the place and we need to go to the Alfa and clean it up. Want to get that all done so I can recline like a queen when I get home.
We use those packages of square rubber matting for a lot of things. Bigger than the gardening kneelers and just as comfortable. Funny how things creep up on you as you age. Yesterday I had to climb a ladder to fix a light. No problem climbing - but sure didn't feel comfortable up on it.
Safe traveling to everyone on the road. And healing thoughts to all dealing with medical issues.

Rosie is all legal!! All titled, tagged, and registered for the low low price of $950 (yikes!).

Since Donna is only going to be living a little over an hour south of us we're going to plan a weekend getaway to a park near her and get some help learning the ropes, Thanks Donna!! Mary has decided she can learn to do this, I'm really proud of her! We both want to be out exploring so much, this is our chance.

Good luck Ava, it will be over soon.

Mickie, I know what you mean about the DMV. They use to be such a pain in the behind here but someone must have straightened them up. If I go in wanting to do something unusual they will actually give you the paper you need and tell you how to fill it out. I'm sure having to deal with some of the people I have seen there is fun.

I'm trying to decide how badly I want to go to town. It's raining lightly and I'm not a fan of going out in the rain. I have to take Harold to the dermatologist tomorrow but there is no shopping when he's along.

The local CBS TV station is running a message that direct tv might take them off at the end of the month. We just went through that with the ABC station not that long ago. I guess they want more money. For years the NBC station we received was in Jackson, MS and a couple of years ago it changed to Baton Rouge. I guess we will be watching the CBS station from Baton Rouge until they make up with the local station. I'm not that interested in seeing the news from Baton Rouge. Guess I will have to hook up the over the air antenna again.

Way to go, girls! You got this!

Not raining here yet, but it's coming I think. Trying to do some paperwork and pay some bills before I head out for dogwalks. Playing around with one last trip before putting Angel to "bed" for the winter. Dang I hate the sound of that! But I had 6 trips in her since I got her in April, that's pretty good.

Got my new phone yesterday and spent much time on my landline trying to get it set up with my carrier. They were most helpful and the only glitch was getting it to talk to my modem. That necessitated a call to my ISP which was quickly fixed and now I just have some odds and ends to download to the new phone. If I return the Motorola to factory settings will that wipe it clean? I want to return it to Target and get a refund. My one and only complaint is that the S5 will NOT work with any wall charger I own. So now it's off to the store to buy new car chargers and additional wall chargers. Jeez, I thought they all were the same nowadays.

Ava, thinking of you today and hoping your proceedure goes quickly and well.

Lyn, saying more prayers for you and your family.

Sarah wishing you a pleasant trip back home.

Martha, don't worry too much about that Direct TV threat. We've seen it before and they usually don't drop the station.

Carol, hope your Dr. can get you all fixed up without any difficulties. I'd be worried too with all that has gone on before on your mind.

Cheryl, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. It's hard when they get older and their health starts to decline. If you need a hand with anything, give me a call.

Donna, hope you are having a nice visit with Lori!

Tina, hope it doesn't sprinkle too hard on you and the puppers.

Everyone take care,
Kathy

Rainy here in SD, also. The few tourists around are unhappy because Mt. Rushmore is behind fog and no one can promise it will clear today. No sun expected, so chances go down. Have had very few days like this this year. And it's my last full day open at the store (even though it's less hours). Tomorrow, after several vendors take products, I'll lock the doors to simply work on getting inventory done. Will, hopefully, get most of it done tomorrow and Thursday. I AM taking Friday off (taking mh in for an oil change, etc) then will come back in Sat as necessary to finish up. Want to turn in my keys and get on the road Monday. That's the plans, anyway. I guess it's up to me how quickly I can do inventory and pack things up.

Mary has decided she can learn to do this, I'm really proud of her! We both want to be out exploring so much, this is our chance.

Mickie and Mary great decision. And with some determination and figuring out the best way for either of you to do it ... it will be come doable. I have always had to play games, as I'm short. I have a foldable stool that I use for lots. On my old rig I used it often when I dumped - as my valves liked to stick and I could get a better grip. (I have to use it to get much out of my cabinets, etc - comes in very handy.) Take your time, breath lots, don't get frustrated ... everything has a learning curve. And kudos to you both.

Morning all! Seems temps here are 10 degrees up then 5 down over and over. Might leave 90's part of this week with high 80's which really does not feel like fall yet, though nights are cooler, into 50's so that trends us down. No rain in sight yet though, but praying for some soon. It's high time this drought came to an end.
Mel hurt during night and apparently got up to take a half dose of narcotic for first time since home. I never even knew he was up I was sleeping so well, a very good thing.
Called vet yesterday about the E collar which about killed Stormy and their answer was, " it's never happened before" but the gal who said it did not even seem to know there were these softer collars or about the older one you could take apart. Stormy is doing well thankfully.
Alice, hope your procedure goes well and you are soon home sleeping it off. M&M you will get there on the class B, we all figure out how best to do things over time. Beth, hope your last few days go smoothly and your pack up soon as you happily on the move to new places. Those in rain, be careful on the roads.
Shingles in the ear! Ouch! Hope your Mom gets well soon. I highly recommend you get a bottle of Lysine. It's an amino acid and comes in capsules. Fairly inexpensive when I bought it. If you google Lysine and shingles, you will find Lysine has a track record stopping virus from growing. I put Mel,on it the minute I suspected Shingles, as I keep it on hand for a virus I get in a tooth nerve every so often, he recovered remarkably fast with that combined with medical anti virals. Lysine has no side effects that I have heard other tha virus killing. Shingles is not to be trifled with and can be very painful.
I guess in a bit I will head to Costco to pick up the items that got used since last visit there. I experimented while at Camp UCD Kiwanis with a version of Gazpacho using a can of low sodium V8 and a few cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic, celery, salsa, cucumber, and red pepper. I will try to remember all i used and put under recipes. It was slightly different each night as I varied amounts but it made a great starter to my light meals of salads or steamed veggies over quinoa or rice. Sure could use a bigger fridge in my van, but that won't happen. So I made it work.
Have a good day all. Stay safe out there.
