can always clean out drawers, that seems to be a chore that is never ending.

Good morning all...rainy and gloomy again...just spent 2 nights a Santee Lakes Campground but heading out this AM...next a WM camp for the night...then on to visit with Lori in Georgia...I did make a couple blog post past few days if you want to take a look see....have a fun filled day & B safe...donna

Good morning Everybody,
The Roadtrek meet in the middle is over today and we are heading in different directions. Several of us are heading to Tulsa, OK to say hello to a brother, and then on to Albuquerque for the balloons. Cloudy today which makes it good for travelling. Donna, give my best to Lori and Doc. Ava, I'm heading your way and will make a stop in Phoenix to see you. Carolb, we'll keep in touch. Enjoy today. Peggy

I'm just plain tired today. The store was busy enough my first couple hours but is getting slower and slower and slower as all the tourists hit the road for home. If the slow down continues at this rate, I'll close at 5 today - if there are enough people coming in, 6. Probably could have made some decent money staying open an extra hour last night - but getting here at 7:30 am and closing at 8, leaving at 8:30 pm was already too long! No more of those days!

Tomorrow I'll really start pulling product to inventory - leaving really bare minimums on the shelf. I put all groceries, liquor and wine to 25% off - and some has moved this morning - hopefully more will in the next few days. Less to count, the better.

All goes well and in a little over a week, I'll be on my way to California with a couple stops.

Hope everyone has a great day. And it's still an hour before noon here - so I'm making it in the morning!

I made scones this morning and they came out the best I have made so far. The recipe called for currants but I don't know what a currant is or have any so I used dried cranberries. We didn't have to cook lunch today. The friends of our near by state park had the annual BBQ fund raiser. It has rained off and on all morning so they probably had a messy job but the BBQ was good.

Frosty and Possie tied up this morning and it looked like it was snowing cat hair in the living room. I don't know what I'm going to do with those two. Frosty has another scratch on his ear. If he scratches it and makes it worse he is going to have to wear the cone again. I guess when they start stalking each other one is going to have to go in time out.

No big plans today. Guess I'll go read the Sunday paper or more like throw most of it away.

Well I always seem to be late to the party, but here I am!

We got home from our trip around 10:30 this morning after a very short last drive. The group we were supposed to meet up with was less than friendly so we pulled out on Friday morning and started heading north. No second Apple festival for me, oh well. Don't think I was missing too much. We spent Friday at Moraine View S.P. and it's really a lovely park but doesn't have too many level sites. We did find one that was reasonably level and parked our butts there for the day. Next morning we were off again, this time to Pontiac, IL where we looked over the Rt. 66 and War Memorial Museum and had a peek at some Wall Dogs murals. Dummy me forgot my camera in Angel so no pics except a few on my phone. We had a few adventures and found a campground that we would never recommend to anyone! All in all, it wasn't a totally wasted trip and we did laugh a lot. Followed old Rt. 66 back up north and spent our last night in my club; can't beat $5 a night. Got a little more experience with Angel under my belt!

Martha, shall I send you some currents? Are they not available where you live? They're delicious, and I always use then instead of raisins.

This is the first day I have been feeling human once again, after 5 days down with a flu bug. Still have a cough and feel really worn out but I can tell things are getting better. It's been rather comical because I am in this cottage I just bought, sleeping on an air mattress, while the wood floors are being installed. This is such a small little village! The UPS guy came to the door with a package and one of the floor guys said I was sick and asleep. The UPS guy told Gloria who works at the post office, Gloria told one of the women who works in the city offices across from the post office (one of those offices where one person wears many hats), who then walked down the street to the little market to get her lunch, where she told the market owner that I was ill. I got a call from the market owner asking if I needed anything. I love this place!

All those fortunate to be on the road, have safe journeys!

Warning to Martha and anyone with occasion to use a cone of shame e collar on a cat. The new e collars do not use Velcro but are a complete cone with a knit collar close to the neck with a draw string. One night while we were gone, thankfully our son awoke around 2 a.m. Hearing thumping noise. He got up and Stormys foot had torn the inner knit collar and she had got her entire front leg through. It was basically all but cutting off her airway. There is little doubt she would have been dead or at least seriously injured by morning had he not heard her, and cut the collar off as it was too tight to remove without breaking her leg. He saved our babies life with his quick action. This was portrayed as a newer better collar but I will NEVER put one on a cat again. The one with Velcro to let you release it is safer. Thankfully she was not seriously injured and limped slightly for a day or too but is fine. My sister in law, a cat breeder for over 30 years, says she would never use a collar on a cat, just cut their nails as short as you can without damaging the quick and let them keep themselves clean. She said dogs, on the other had get OCD and will damage themselves chewing and scratching but need to be watched very carefully anytime an e collar is on.

Velda, I had a dog that could not be bandaged or coned. She would not stop until she was dead to remove either. My vet couldn't believe that she removed a bandage in a minute - and was chewing herself and a cone until even they removed it.

Judi, there are definitely advantages - but also, remember the wagging tongues when you don't want news to travel ...

Judi, they probably sell currents here, I have just never looked for them. My husband eats the dried cranberries as a snack so we alway have them around.

That village sounds like a good place to retire to when you get through traveling. A friend and I use to eat at the Piccadilly cafeteria so often we said we should get an apartment across the street when we could no longer drive so we could eat there everyday. lol

Glad you are feeling better. It's time to start thinking about a flu shot again. Usually they are pushing them on TV but that hasn't started yet.

The cone I use has a collar to hold it on. I don't fasten the collar real tight and he has been able to get it off some times. The vets here put elastic bandages on them and the cats get their claws caught in that. I will look for one with velcro but I have never seen one. I don't know what else to do for him because he will scratch a sore until it's raw. I have tried cutting his claws but that doesn't help. I take it off to let him wash while I can watch him.

Finally home, utterly exhausted now. Rosie the Roadtrek is sitting in her parking space waiting for us when we recover from the trip. I only hope traveling is far more fun when we're retired, "making time" trying to get back home for work is just beyond tiring.

By the way, I did get a flu shot at OHSU a few weeks ago. OHSU got a batch in early so my doc called me. I'm sure it did make the bout I had with the flu less serious that it could have been.

Sorry you have been ill Judi and hope you are up and about soon. I would love your little town, with the old fashioned email system. I think it not only is good for those who need help, it is a reminder for all that many people are kind and caring.
