Good morning everyone!

Finally quiet here, I guess living in a condo at the beach means every "weekender" owner shows up en masse with a car ful of booze and a bunch of friends... good lord it was loud here last night!!! Oh well, people having a good time is a good thing; but I won't be sad when they all go home Monday afternoon. :P

Hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend.

Good morning Queen and all...well when you get your wheels you can leave the all that noise...sunny and hot again...got some done yesterday but not much...today hope to get a lot more out to the rig...need to move on...it is very lonely here ...being alone is not a good thing for me...I thought all these years I was a loner ....but figured out that it was me just wanting to get away from all the people that I had to deal with all day (hospital work & retail business)...because no interaction with people these last 5 years... finally made me realize I am a social person...don't get me wrong I like my down time ...but I like to do things and be with people...and that ain't happin'...not much in Melbourne either as I don't know many people there.... I hope to remedy this problem by camping with my RV friends this winter...illness put a halt on that last winter...made a blog post yesterday if you want to take a look...for now I am off to get busy while it is still a little cool...have a fun filled day & B safe....donna ;)

Good Morning MIckie and all who follow,

Glad you have some quiet this morning Mickie. There are some downsides to living in a condo on the beach, but fortunately the weekend stuff is short lived.

See some sun out this morning here. First time since mid week, but that's okay as it's been too hot and humid when it's out. Think it's supposed to go to 89 today, yuck. But cooling down to more normal temps again next week. That's good as I need to dry out some things that are still damp from my camping trip last week. Had to roll up a wet awning which I don't like to do, but it needs a bath anyway. Will be doing that this week as I get ready to haul out again in a week. Also to need to mow my grass before it becomes a hayfield.

Small town near me is have a festival today. Arts and Crafts, Parade, lots of kids games, waterball fight between two local township fire departments, pancake and sausage breakfast, 5 K walk etc. It's just something they came up with about 5 years ago as nothing goes on up here over Labor Day weekend. Later tonight will be really nice fireworks. I usually go down and browse the craft show and watch what I call the "honky tonk" parade. It's a conglomeration of whatever gets thrown into it, no bands or anything, but cute. And of course lots of fire trucks at the end. Kids love it as lots of candy gets tossed out. So that will be my fun for today. Hope you are all having a nice Labor Day weekend. Don't know where August went but it sure went. Hard to believe it's Sept already and by the time the IN GTG is over, will be almost October  So enjoy this last of summer.

Mornin' ladies and all who follow ~~~
I should take my own recommendation and get a static pad. My post just poofed :(

Hot & humid here in Chitown again. This heat & humidity is just getting to me. Only cut the grass yesterday, and hoping to get the trimming done today and cutting down the various lilies. Usually do the yard in a little over an hour, but the mower didn't want to restart after emptying the bag, finally got it to start and by that time I was frustrated and exhausted from the humidity. I can't wait for sweater weather!

Donna, if you like looking at barns, try looking for barn quilts during your route south. Some counties may have them listed on their websites. I found some in Kankakee county but haven't gone looking for the rest of them yet. It's something fun to do when wasting a day and want to just get out of the house. Here's a sample of some: http://irishiroamiwrite.blogspot.com/2014/10/wordless-wednesday-kankakee-barn-quilts.html

Still trying to figure out what I'm doing the Monday before leaving for the IN gtg. I reserved a spot at the casino, thinking Mom would come, but she came up with every excuse in the book. Also got approval from the association to park Colt in the drive for Monday nite which would probably be better, could get the fridge cold and pack things instead of bringing everything with me and doing it all at the casino...think I just talked myself into cancelling the casino :)

Time for a little breakfast, read the funnies (only reason I still buy a Sunday paper) and get out to the yard before it gets too blasted hot again.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe on the roads.

Good morning and Good grief! I go away from here for a couple days and everything happens! Mickie and Mary buy Karen's Roadtrek, Claudia is joining us for IN gtg and Velda's DH has his surgery scheduled. So much going on but that's just what I've looked at so far.

Me, I've been pretty busy, those 5 horses/3 donks can be a lot of work sometimes. Especially when one(or more) of them decides to either go into the wrong stall or not want to go outside in the morning and instead stand in the aisleway and munch on the hay bales that are stored in the barn! And all the kitties! There must be at least 40 cats running around this barn, almost all of them variations on black and white. Pretty sure bet they are all related. I've also got a house cat to watch over (different owner) and his house is at the complete opposite end from the horses/donks. So lots of driving time.

Clean out continues on our Quonset hut. Yesterday DH and I went down to help do a little cleaning. We were there for 2 hrs in the heat and I swear it didn't look like we'd done anything. There's just that much stuff in there to get rid of/sort out/move. Former landlord was the ultimate hoarder. But it will all get done in time to put Angel and Pony away for winter.

We had a campfire out on our patio last 2 nights. Friday I wanted it and made myself some s'mores. Saturday it was DH's idea and we sat out until the mosquitos started biting but no s'mores this time. He's kind of tickled with the idea of having a campfire on the patio and wants to have one next weekend to cook hot dogs and pie iron pies with friends. I don't know when he thinks we'll be able to manage this as we are planning on spending the day at the Sandwich Fair on Friday then we have a picnic at a customer's house on Saturday at noon. I think I'll be pretty tired by Saturday night. Maybe we will do it Sunday.

That's all from me for now, everyone take care,
Kathy

Good morning everyone - from sunny CA!
Well I did it! I pulled a Carolb - drove Friday & Sat to get here (KS >> Los Angeles) - trip was way too fast -especially yesterday. I thought my son was encouraging me 'finish it' with a text when he was really responding to another son's comment. argh... Oh well, we are here & safe & sound. (thanks to Sharon's advice on the route - totally uneventful - no stressful climbs or descents at all :D )
Sadie was beginning to wonder if she would ever get out of the van for more than a brief walk. :? At the moment she & son's dog are trying to figure out who is really the top dog. (we all know she is, but Allie needs to understand that too (ha!))
Grandbaby is beautiful & didn't grow too much over the past 5 weeks. DIL goes back to work on Wed - will be tough for her but I get the honor of snuggling Olivia in her absence. Get in my apartment Thursday & then will resume working remotely on Monday. Hoping to get into a nice routine between work, baby & Sadie.

Also hope to catch up on what's happening with the group here.

safe travels everyone.
Catherine

good morning ladies, holy moly, I slept in. That doesn't happen often, guess I needed it.
Summer is beginning to come to a close and for me that means I can get out and have a
few adventures right at home. Just the thought of that seems to perk me up as I've been
in such a funk over the past month I was beginning to worry about "me" . Those that
know me know thats not a normal thing for me. Think I'll go to REI today, I need to buy
a hat, not just any hat, but one kinda like what Liz wears. REI has those kind and some
are in awesome print and different colors. I'm not a hat person but I need to keep the
sun off and sunscreen isn't always the best choice for me because you have to put it on
every couple hours.
Time for another cup of coffee and a thought of breakfast occurs to me too. Ya'll have a
great day and be safe.

Wednesday I picked my sister up and we went to the lake. We have been going up there for at least 20 years and it was the worst fishing I can remember. I have bigger gold fish than most of the ones we caught. The weather was not too hot and overcast until yesterday when it went up to 98. We watched a couple of storms go up the Texas side of the lake but we didn't get rained on. Yesterday when the boats, tubers and kids rolled in we decided to come home. One bunch blew up the biggest inflatable float I have ever seen. They better hope the wind doesn't pick up or they will be sailing.

Catherine, that was a long trip to make in 2 days. Kind of like traveling with my son. The things we do for grandkids.

Kathy, sounds like someone needs to find a spay and neuter clinic for the cats. Our barn is a lot more peaceful since all the cats have been fixed. There are still a few fights but not like there use to be. We are down to about 18 cats counting the house and barn cats. Sometimes I think we spend more on horse, dog and cat food than we spend on our food.

Donna, I like to have my own space when I travel but it's more fun to have friends to meet up with to do things. I would like to make some of the GTG's but just can't take off across the country now.

I'm late to the party here , been cleaning in the van till it got too dang hot. It's 87 on way to 91 today and per usual for September one last warm up to 103 by Friday they say. Ugh!! We seem to do this pretty much every uear: cool down late August/ early September into high 70's low 80's for a week or so, then pop back into 90's and above for another week or ten days then drop down for good for the year. Hopefully by Mel's surgery it will at least be back down into 80's. In 2013 during his stay at the hospital it was over 100 every single day, one day 114, and made it difficult to keep the fridge cold enough! Not to mention how miserable walking outside!
Cheryl, my Dad always went each Sunday morning for San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner and the LA Times. Did it for decades. We finally gave up paper as accumulated too much never read. And cartoons just aren't what they used to be. I don't get/ understand some of the new ones.
Mickie and Mary I am so glad you will soon be able to run away from the noisy weekenders.
Donna, I need my peace and quiet which is why I often stay up late, but I too am a social person, often conversing in line at stores with strangers, much to Mel's discomfort ( he is opposite from social unless it's someone he knows). I sure understand what you were saying.
Kathy, that yard campfire sounds fun, But maybe not while it's still HOT here. Love a tasty S'more so much we sometimes make them up in toaster oven in winter!! :D
Catherine wow, that was some long drive but as they say, holding your Grandbaby, priceless!!
Alice I'd sleep like that once in a while and know I must have needed it. Your hat sounds fun, I should make a trip out to REI the other side of town.
Martha in some places here, much to distress of naturalists there are places you can catch fish that are small and are in fact gold fish people have dumped and which are competing with wild fish for habitat and food. It's a good thing when people take them out of our waterways. And as they say a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.
Sue that small town festival sounds like so much fun, even if all you do is people watch. Sounds like small town America at its best. Brings back memories of when my hometown was only population of 10 to 15 thousand and we were Tomato capitol of the world with a large Heinz tomato processing plant and we had the Tomato Festival each year. My Mom won a blue ribbon and a nice hand mixer one year for her Moms recipe for Marichino Cherry Walnut Torte!
Well guess I need to get up and move. Mel has cooked bacon on smoker today, now has chicken breasts on for later in week, then a bacon wrapped pork loin going on for supper.
Have a good week all.
Velda
