Gmorning all:)

So much going on with y'all! I agree that when some of the fam goes awol, it causes some concern...& I don't know why I've been so lax about getting online for anything! But, yes, I'm also alive &well.

Ava, can't remember when you have surgery for you skin cancer, but I'll keep good thoughts for you. Kathleen & Tina, glad you had a good visit! Hope the vet can find an easy cure for what ails sweet Shadow. Retirement for Pat?! Kathleen & Barbie, congrats on recent sales--always nice to have extra cash in one's pocket:) Many traveling, so I always wish safe trips for y'all....And for those of us not on FB, it's good to hear how some of our "missing" family are doing:)

Just finished a week of cat-sitting, & still camped in cousin's driveway til Thurs or so. However, it's been a lot of driving home each day (in my little car), since we never got any rain from the storm that blew by a week ago. Cukes needed watering, as well as the new grass seed I'd planted. Rain in the forecast for the next few days, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Like many of you, my lawn is mostly brown & crunchy :(

So y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good morning Ladies,
I'm back from my trip to Thomson Causeway COE park with the HR group. Very nice bunch, I enjoyed meeting them and they graciously let me be an "honorary member" for the weekend. Got to see some of their HR's and let me tell you, some of them would knock your socks off for gorgeous! One even had a built in mixer, which the owners used to make us up some yummy Mudslides. Park was excellent with paved sites and lovely hot showers! Our loop was right on the river but it was a back water so I didn't get to see any boats go by.

Sounds like lots going on here, I'll have to read a bit and catch up with all the doings.

We are gearing up for our annual employee/family/friends cook out this Saturday. Started with cleaning out the garage and getting tables out of the shed. Moved DH's Impala out into the yard and tarped it up to make extra room because we will be having about 50 people here. This week will be busy running for party things and cleaning up yard and house. DH loves to do these cook outs but it sure is a lot of work. We usually start a few weeks ahead of time buying up pop, beer, plates, etc.

Since this was my first long trip in Angel, I've learned a few things. First is that I'm too used to having someone with me. While I am comfortable in my own company, it's nicer to have someone else with. Second is that Angel (or at least me!) doesn't do well at higher speeds or on the interstates with the big trucks. So I'm sticking with back roads whenever possible (which are nicer in my opinion). Third is that I can reasonably do a 3-4 hr. drive by myself without getting too tired. I did find a nice spot to stop and take a short break about half way there and back again, so it wasn't too bad of a drive. I did take a slightly different route coming home and was momentarily freaked out when 3 overpasses appeared. But all were much higher than Angel so we sailed right through! This thing is ridiculously easy to park in a campsite and pretty easy to drive if I don't push it at higher speeds. I have two more trips next month and I'm thinking of going out next weekend to the club, or possibly to another park somewhere. If DH can't get away for next weekend, I might ask my friend Karen to go with me.

That's all from this way for now, everyone take care,
Kathy

Ava, I see you posted while I was typing. So sorry to hear about Jon's Dad passing away. Keeping my fingers crossed for successful surgery for you on Wed.

I don't think I am fully awake. We had about three hours of really loud thunder and lightening which meant not much sleep for everyone. Andy thinks only my lap will save him when it storms. It is wonderfully cool out but I think a walk has been scratched from the morning agenda.
Carolb, are you making ice-box pickles with all your cukes? One of my friends made some and shared, they are so good everyone she shared with begged for more. I don't know her recipe but she should start to sell them as everyone is totally addicted and all have confessed to even drinking the juice.
Kathy I don't like to travel alone much now which I used to never mind. I can't imagine planning a party for so many people. Ava, Ill be thinking of you on Wed. sure hope this is the last surgery you will need.
I think I'm going to have a nap if Mitzi will share the couch with me, she is all cuddled up on a pillow.

Kathy, if the view is better at the back of the site, I have parked with my windshield facing the water. That puts the utilities on the wrong side but I have a 30 amp extension cord and about 35 ft of water hose. I might have to turn around to dump or use a dump site. Another hint, measure from the tallest thing on your camper to the ground and write the height on a label and stick it on your dash. That way when you get to an overpass you will know if you will fit. Just because a vehicle will do 70 it doesn't mean you should be doing 70. When I first started looking for a Class C I wanted a Holiday Rambler because they had a good reputation. The company has since sold or been taken over by someone else.

I woke up at 5:00 this morning. My son was up cleaning the kitchen. Talk about someone that is OCD. I don't know how much work he will get done today. Yesterday it was 100 and today they are saying it will be 102. I need to go to town but I would rather go back to bed.

Another day, another fire here in parched northern California. Fire is just south of the last week 70000 acre Rocky fire so hopefully wind will blow it into burned acreage and they can control it quick, as it went from start to 5000 acres overnight! Our temperatures have moderated a bit and will be 90's all week they say.
Mel is putting a "smoked meatloaf" on the pellet grill to cook in a while to become the smoked title the recipe has on it. Should be interesting. We have that doctor appointment with surgeon to do Tuesday and not a lot else planned.
Ava, will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that the MOHS goes well and minimal cutting is needed.
I'm off to Curves shortly. Have a good week all.
Velda

Martha, the campground was on the water but my site wasn't. Wouldn't have done any good to park backwards then but thanks for the tip! And there were no boats to look at anyway. We did measure the camper long before I took this last trip so I know it's actual height. I just round it up to 11 feet for a bit of wiggle room. I've just not had to go under any underpasses yet til now so I get a bit freaked out. Putting it on the dash is a good idea in case I'm not the one driving it!
