Mornin' ladies ~~~
Survived the storms & tornadoes last night. Sirens did go off. Lost a tree yesterday afternoon (TV said high winds around 4 PM), so came home that. Hope everyone is OK. Lots of storms around last night. Hope Sue stayed put. Wondering how Kathy's friend Carrie did. I think she lives in the storm zone, but not sure if she lives where the tornadoes hit. I did run down and see that Colt survived OK (phew!)
Waiting for a tree guy for an estimate, and the AC guy to charge it. Sure hope this summer gets better weather wise. I've already cancelled 2 weekends for camping because of storms. At least the weather is nice today, humidity is gone.
Have a good day everyone & stay safe.

Good morning all,
Bad news here last night. The tornado that hit Coal City took out my son's mechanic shop. His neighbors called him and told him that the back half of his building is just gone. He tried to get into there last night but there were too many power lines down and he couldn't see them in the dark. This morning he still hasn't been able to see the extent of the damage and now he's got water in his basement he's dealing with at home. He doesn't think he has enough insurance to cover rebuilding and my DH says our son had a client's truck parked in the area where the damage is. I've been trying to see if I can see anything on Google Earth but I can't get anything. They have shown the front of his shop on TV but not the back section with the damage.

Gmorning all
Thankfully, no humans/pets injured with this storm system--starting with Sue, & on it's way east. Donna, we were supposed to get it last night, but it's just now starting to rain here. High winds & tornado possibilities to follow....
I'm very behind on this, but Catherine, CONGRATS on you're retirement!!!! & you must know I'm very impressed with all your de-cluttering! Guess I'll be visiting you in CA this winter:)
Will work in HB today--finally purchased some of that aluminum bubble wrap insulation, so will cut that to fit windows. Getting ready for another 4-5 day road trip, my goal being to get away for 2-3 short trips each month.
Y'all have a great & safe day

Maybe I should say Morning and leave off the 'good' as it sounds like it isn't a good day for Kathy and Cheryl. So sorry for the storm damage. There were about 4 tornadoes that hit here from the storm the other day in four cities, all were isolated hits where only one house/business was destroyed in the different areas. One very large house was completely destroyed and the 5 people who lived in it were able to get to the basement just as the roof blew away and many walls collapsed, the home is too damaged to repair. I used to not be very afraid of storms but after the one in '09 that took out over 1/3 of the trees in the surrounding area and left us without power for a week I pay more attention to the forecast. Unfortunately the tornadoes the other day hit without warning of any kind.
Wish the lower humidity would come this way, but think it is going to be bad all week with heat indexes at 100
Need to get busy around here DH is having company from the museum where he will be having an exhibition of his paintings next February so they look at his recent work and decide on a title. I thought about baking something but decided it is too hot!
Donna hope they get your roof repaired and the sun comes out for you, would gladly trade you for some clouds.

Sorry to hear of the damage. Guess I was lucky. Two storms came through Michigan last night with lots of rain and lightning, but the winds did not seem to be as high as others experienced, so not even any really serious rocking.
Instead of directly heading east yesterday from Frankenmuth to Port Huron, I circled the Thumb of Michigan and stopped at some places I had grown up in as a child during the summers. My parents had a cottage on Lake Huron from 1948 to 2001 when I sold it, and it holds a lot of good memories for me. We kids used to pack up a picnic lunch and either walk or take the rowboat a mile or so down the beach to what was then empty land with a river and sand dunes for the day. Now it is Port Crescent State Park, if anyone has ever been there. I stopped at the dunes area day use area and walked to the beach. Lake levels are up so the beach is small because beach grass has grown up on the old beach, but the water was clear and sparkling! Got my feet wet and got a sand sample for my collection. Then stopped at a small roadside park on the way into Port Austin and got water from the old manual pump--will not drink it because it looked a little muddy, but walked to the beach here also. Had this whole park to myself, but good memories walking here as a child, also. Last stop was for some t-shirts in town and an ice cream cone.
Made a longer day, but nice to visit old places! Glad my kids had the Port Austin/Port Crescent experience also.
So, this morning I am off to Canada with no phone service for a while. Hope the border crossing goes well. I have gone into Canada many times in my life, living just across the river in Detroit, but never with an RV and all my household goods!

Good morning. Woke up to a rumbling storm going through. The warnings have apparently just expired for my area which is good. It appears to be moving really fast to the east. Cheryl and Kathy, sorry to hear about the damage done to your area. Just saw some video on Coal City on TWC. Hope everyone else stays safe. Carolb, I finally made sun shields for my windows on Lola with the aluminum insulation. Hopefully it'll help keep the temperature down inside of the rv. Or at least help keep it down. Need to do some running around today so better get started with my day. Be safe, everyone.

I'm so sorry that some have experienced such bad storms, and have property damage. Hope the recovery goes well, and lives get back to normal soon. Mother Nature needs to chill out a bit!

So many sad things going on - storms with damage, beloved animals failing or dying. So sorry for those of you dealing with these things! I agree with Judi, Mother Nature does need to chill!
Carolb, I am so happy to see you back here on the forum!
I helped in the yard yesterday morning and evening - nothing like a good sweat and chigger bites!
Think I'll ride into Manhattan and look for cooler clothes!
If anyone is in Arizona when I am and needs that aluminum insulation, I have some in storage I would gladly give you! I only used it for storing the 5er during summers. I use drapery liner otherwise as it is more compact to store when not in use. I just pin it to the valance.
Everyone be safe!!

Kathy - so sorry about your son's shop. Maybe he can get some help from FEMA for rebuild. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him. Carrie OK?

good morning ladies, wow such damage with the storms, but glad no one got hurt.
will be child sitting today for someone that needs to attend a friends funeral and other than that I'm getting stuff
together and stowing some of it back in the car. I'm antsy to get back on the road and continue my journey. Maggie
is loving it here but thats mostly because she finds stuff to eat EVERYWHERE and its not good stuff. She's getting fat
and now her mouth is dirty
not a whole lot I can do about it for another week. Then its diet time for her!
Time to run in the house for a coffee refill, ya'll have a great day and hope everyone stays safe from all the storm
activity around the country.

So glad everybody is ok, property damage but no injuries. Good to know that Sue is fine this morning after the excitement earlier.
Judy, I'm especially glad to hear everybody in Frankenmuth is ok. I saw this morning that there was a touch-down at the Birch Run campground a few miles away. Thanks for confirming everybody's safety!

Glad everyone is safe. We are HOT and sunny again. Hoping we don't get any smoke from fires as that was what put me overnight in hospital last summer, with fine particulate matter in the air. We are headed to the VA today for speech pathology to do a swallowing study on hubby then a hopefully quick visit with his dermatologist and home really hope before rush hour. My good friend stopped last night for a visit and we talked too late, she is headed back to Oregon today, where she lives on their gorgeous ranch.
Praying weather improves for those who need it too.
Looking forward to lunch tomorrow with Lyn here in my city. My very first meetup with a member of this group.

So sorry to hear about all the damage from this latest nasty storm system! We have been lucky here. Only a few downpours and thats all. Today is beautiful! Last night was perfect for playing golf.
On a split shift today so am home for awhile. I tried putting the top down on the camper again but no go. I haven't found anyone who knows anything about popups so will have a mobile RV guy come out and fix it. I did get underneath and took a look. All cables seem good, none loose or broken. I think the problem is in the gear assembly. Will have to shell out some bucks for this but hopefully I can make it back when I sell it.
Think I will see if I can get my sewing maching going here and start working on curtains.
Have a good day (or hope it at least improves for some of you!)!
