Good morning Donna and all who follow.
Hot and humid here this mornning. Trying to get the deck stained is proving a greater challenge than I first thought. So much rain that the deck doesn't have time to dry out between downpours. Oh well it will happen eventually. Need to get things done around the house today then have the weekend to PLAY!! Hope the ladies in Frankenmuth have a great weekend.
Safe travels to all.
Brenda

Gmorning Donna, Brenda & my honey:)

Oh Ava, I did see where the temp in Phx is to be 114 today--thought of you & how much you must be enjoying cooler CA temps. Donna & Brenda, enjoying humidity  I'm right there with you--a humid wkend for us too, but then a nice cool down for next week.

Martha, I think of you every time I open my cabinet--Beignet mix sitting there! Have not attempted to make any since I'm basically one-handed, but that will be one of the first things I do when I feel "healed" enough :P

Y'all have a great, safe, happy day 8-)

Morning all
Hopefully it will be MOSTLY sunny Friday here. Really need the grass to dry out to get it cut.

Out and about early this morning, have 2 horses and cleaned my friend Daun's house. Now home for a little bit then to the store. One dog to walk and another to walk/feed her dinner at 5 p.m. Back to horses for their dinner at 6.

This is a big weekend here in our town, annual Canal Days with parade tonight and carnival, beer garden and craft fair on Saturday/Sunday. As my town sits on the I&M canal, thus the name for the festival. I think this might be it's 40th year. I know it's more than 39 yrs. because DH and I got married during Canal Days and while driving through town on the way to our reception the "just married" sign on the back of the car fell off right at the feet of the cop directing traffic through town! So along with Canal Days it's also our 39th anniversary and Sunday is my MIL's 85th birthday; of course it's also Father's Day! See what I mean when I say big weekend! LOL

I do believe all the baby skunks are now gone; keeping my fingers crossed. We haven't seen the mother for some time and in the past two days the babies have started coming out from under the shed. I think Mom died and the babies are looking for food. Some have died and we have disposed of them. Poor little things but Mother Nature is in charge of this. I sure don't want or need any pet skunks.

Next weekend I will be on the road for just a short weekend trip. DH and I will take Angel down to our club for a bit of camping and fishing. We both need the time away. We have decided to take youngest pup with us, I'm sure hoping that's not a mistake! All other animals will stay home under the wonderful care of my friend and assistant Karen. I am really looking forward to this getaway.

If you're on the road have fun & stay safe. If you're dreaming about the road, enjoy your dreams.
Kathy

Good morning gals! Beautiful day today. Was nice yesterday too. I spent all day yesterday working on the camper. I posted details in the "Campfire" thread last night. Want it to look good for selling. Will post pics of what I've done when I get finished. Still some sewing to do.

Off to work here shortly. Hope you all have a good day and safe travels!

Carolb, I hope you have better luck with the Beignets than we had here. They are suppose to puff up a little. I was on a mission to learn to make yeast rolls one time. I would bring my efforts to work with me. My coworkers took one of my roll mistakes, varnished it and put it on a plaque to hang on my wall. I miss that crazy bunch. Yesterday I tried to make the Lemon Cake that keeps showing up on Facebook. I could knock someone out with it. Not one of my better efforts either.

Ava, wherever you are that you need a jacket, I would like to be there. It wasn't suppose to rain today but that has changed. It's going to be hot and humid.

Kathy, hope your skunk problem is over. One of my cousins had a pet skunk that had been de-skunked but it still had the odor. It would bite you on your toes if you had sandals on. I loved to play with cats and dogs but I was kind of afraid of that skunk. For a while we had a family of skunks coming to the barn every afternoon. They kept getting fewer and fewer until there was just one little one that would come from the woods across the road and head to the barn. I haven't seen that one in a long time but I don't go out to the barn at night often.

My sister is off today so we could have gone to the lake. She is having knee problems and can't walk much. Since I am camping next weekend, for the 4th of July and going to Florida on the 9th I decided I might better stay home.

Harold is off to pick up his mower at the shop. He managed to break the belt mowing all that wet grass. I don't know why he won't mow it high and then go back mow it lower. Men!

The newspaper says there will be a farmers market in town tomorrow. Maybe I can make it to town before noon. We would sure like some good tomatoes. I haven't seen any. The neighbor's garden is not doing any good. I guess because of all the rain. I had planted some Gladiola bulbs and figured they would just rot but 14 out of 20 actually came up.

Mornin' (barely) ladies...Not much happening here, but will be doing something with Dad on Sunday. He hasn't made up his mind yet (breakfast or dinner).

Happy anniversary Kathy & DH. And thanks for the heads-up on Canal Days. I'll avoid the bridge like the plague this weekend.

Have a good day/weekend everyone & if you're on the road, stay safe.

I am finding Ava's comment on jackets amusing since she is in our valley about 60 or so miles south and it's been high 50's in morning and 90 to 100 days! But it's all what one is used to and if you are used to 110 then 55 feels quite cool!
We wish we had green grass to mow as its getting browner and browner around here with lawns all forcibly dying and grass fires happening daily in the valley.
Not much planned here today. Have a very early 08 appointment for son for a Medicare exam tomorrow morning which will be a chore since his disabilities make it very difficult to get him up early. Today will be Curves and in house stuff to stay cool. At least I can travel vicariously with many if you! And next week I get lunch with Lyn! Yay!
