Sunny Thursday on The Prarie

Good Morning all,

Siting here in Albert Lea, having bowl of cereal. Getting dressed and hitting the road shortly. Good trip so far. Barb, didn't let you know I was going to be here as didn't know myself. Some rain and road construction in WI. Might have some later today, have to check weather.

Heading on to probably Chamberlain, SD this morning. Will probably be in Rapid City this weekend Beth, just a heads up. I'm sure you will be working. Gotta check weather and get ready to roll. Sounds like Soos and Donna are having good trip with one adventure so far. BJ,scary about all the breaking. Ava, safe trip. Anita, hope weather clears. Wondering where Tina is?
Glad to hear Abbey is home and doing better.

Time to get a move on. Till later. Have a nice day all. Will catch you up later.

good morning ladies
I'm actually getting stuff done, surprise surprise :D Car is partially packed, a dinette table and chairs and a little glass top living room end table getting rehomed, the backyard is depooped and weeded, patio chairs put away. All my clothes are set out to get packed in the suitcase, will get that done in a little while. Need to put the clean dishes away and tidy up the
kitchen and that will be done. Still have an errand to run this morning and dr appt at noon. After that, I'll leave when I'm
packed and say "go" :D
Daughter is not coming to get her cat, but she is however going to stop by and make sure kitty is fed and watered, let her
in or out whatever. So, guess I'm still stuck with a cat I never wanted.
Time for breakfast and another cup of coffee, then jump in the shower and get started with my day. Ya'll have a great day
and be safe.

Good Morning
I will have a cup of coffee with you this morning. We made it to Gulf Shores and back all safe and sound We came home early as the weather was yucky, the rip tides were very strong did not feel safe in ocean, and one of us had a bad allergic reaction to yellow fly bites. All that said our first road trip was for the most part successful. We had a few glitches but that was expected. We might even look at getting a newer rig with a bit more room and a toad car. We thought using a rental would work but it was kind of a hassle arranging pick up drop off etc.
Safe travels to everyone I guess I will get to unpacking the rv.

Good morning, everyone. Starting out with sun this morning with showers and storms for later. Pretty typical for this time of year. Warm and muggy! I'll take it!

Good to hear from Sue and Donna. Glad they are on the move and safe. Donna, I dislike I-95 just for the reason you said, so many trucks! But glad you got through it. Sometimes you just can't avoid it! Sue, how's Molly adapting to the travel?

Judi, I also have thought about you and wondered how you're doing. One day at a time. Some good and some bad. ((hug)) Since I lost my DH I realize (now) what a fog I've been in for the last 3 years. Still am sometimes but getting better.

My son fixed the water problem on Lola the other day when his family came for dinner. I have other little things for him to do, mostly involving electric but that was the big one for me! The rest will happen when it happens! He did replace the outside light fixture on the one side of the house too. Makes me and my neighbor more comfortable to have it on at night.
They wish I would move but just not ready for that. As long as I can take care of things here I'm okay to be here. Besides, it's taking a long time to go through stuff and get rid of things!! As I said, I'm helping them out!

Barbie, I love your new wheels! What fun you'll have. Have a good visit with your daughter too! Haven't seen anything from Kathleen for awhile. Hope everything is okay with her. Gotta get moving and out of the house. Some running today with sister in law and oil change in the car. Coffee is on, help yourself. Be safe. Oh, and Nan, nice new boat! Such fun!

Quick note for Sue. I should have time Sunday. Otherwise working part of all other days this week. Let me know.

So good to hear from those of you on the road or just returning! I have always avoided much of I-95 in Georgia by going the coast route.

From some of the comments made, I know I need to go back and read more on here - have missed things.

My two nights in Canon City, CO have been at a Passport America park - Starlite Campground - where there are several vintage trailers and other items. I can't say it is spectacular but hostess/owner is very nice, outgoing. I have some neighbors I'm not too sure about - permanents. Anyway, why they think they can charge over $40 for a site is beyond me - the PA amount is just about right.

Not hurrying as I expected this morning. I was headed to a 2nd cousins and rock formations in Western Kansas, but road to formations is dirt trail and it rained heavily there last night.

Everyone have a good day! Barbie, enjoy the visit with your daughter! Safe travels!

Good morning ladies!

Well, my visit with my daughter has been postponed again... but she has a bunch of finals she has to study for, so that is important. We are trying to work something out for next Wednesday or will have to wait until after my camping trip.

Gorgeous day today! Would love to grab my kayak this morning and go out for a bit, but got tons of cleaning to do around here first, so I will do the kayak thing later on today instead. Was supposed to rain today but they now say the rain will come tomorrow instead. OK by me!

Have a great day and safe travels! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Left Michigan and am in Maumee Bay SP in Ohio. I like this place because it is usually empty (we shall see about the weekend) and is a sort of open mixed meadow with lots of chirping birds. Lots of space between sites and just enough bushes and such to provide some privacy.

I had some good opportunities in Michigan to visit with old friends and two sets of ex-coworkers, plus I was able to visit the wonderful Detroit Institute of Arts. Saw only a small part of it, but there was an exhibit of Diego Rivera and his wife Frida's weeks in Detroit as he painted his famous murals in the DIA courtyard. Subject is Detroit Industry. My grandfather worked for Ford from 1915 at the Highland Ave plant to the Dearborn Foundry where he retired in 1948, so I always imagine I see him in the parts of the mural that show the furnaces making steel. Make sure you visit the DIA if you ever go to Detroit. Check my blog for photos, also.

Anyway, after getting back from a day of visiting friends on Tuesday, I discovered the Check light was lit on my refrigerator and it was not working on propane. :o It did start cooling again once it was plugged into electric, but went out again yesterday in the short drive to this campsite. I need to make an appointment near West Branch State Park where I am going to be next Monday to get it looked into. I need a working refrigerator while I drive!!

So glad everyone is traveling safely and having fun along the way, well except for fridge problems. Only place we are traveling is husband to the dentist today for his regular frequent checkup because of radiation. We are starting to do a few things to get my van ready if we can travel to Ok to see sister in law and father in law in fall. Hubby is going to change out all lights to LED and put a new shroud over inside AC as its cracked and lovers broke. Then need to spend a day over at generator place getting that fixed. Always something but at least he has something g fun like a trip to focus on.
Have a good day all and be safe.

Sue, my great grandfather settled in Albert Lea and both my grandfather and father were born there. They all lived in the same house, but my great grandfather had passed away by the time my dad lived there. I visited the house at 203 Elizabeth Ave. last year on my trip. The current residents let me tour inside and see the bedroom I slept in one summer when I was 6 and my brother and I spent 6 weeks with my grandparents.
