Sunshine Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Sunday

Morning all,

Beautiful morning here, promise of even better day. Hopefully can even open up the house for first time since last year.

Did get to Camping World yesterday, didn't spend as much green as thought I would. They had to order a surge protector as they were out of stock. But did get some Gel Gloss RV Wash and Wax. Great stuff, highly recommend it. Also some Black streak/Bug Remover. With $10 coupon, came out with only $20 actually spent :D Looked at rigs too, but nothing of interest. Just looking for fun anyway.

Got backyard raked yesterday and might bake cover off my trailer today. Unless too windy. Have a tholeto repair on it, but will do that tomorrow. Think a squirrel had lunch on it since it's along bottom edge.

Gotta get ready for church here, so wishing you all a blessed Sunday ;)

Good Morning
Another nice weather day here, our last for a while as 3 to 5 inches of rain forecast for the coming week. Pollen count is sky high so at least some of the rain could help that situation. With all the rain we've already had, the grass seed I scattered when I first got home from FL is starting to come up.
Have handyman coming this afternoon to clean gutters. They are full of the long stringy bloom stems from oak trees and ran over with last rain. They have mostly quit dropping but likely will have to have the gutters cleaned again within a month.
Made it to campground yesterday to check on Magic. Ran the genny and the engine for a bit. She sure needs washing outside and a good cleaning inside too. Several other things I need to do but will have to wait another week or two. Guess no rush as I'm not going anywhere soon.
Need to get my day started. Hope you have a good one.

Mornin' Sue, Donna and all that follow ~~~

Where's the hole Sue? On the cover? Darn critters

Well for all the ladies that thought I'd do OK with hitching and to "just do it" (sorry Nike), I'm sure glad I had a friends semi-driver husband go with me yesterday. Ran into a few problems. The Blue Ox is really hard to lock in place. I need to figure out my leverage so I can get my body weight on it because my upper both strength is non-existent.

Danger problem #1: The passenger side of the Blue ox kicked back on me and my hand was wedged between the bar & the propane. Didn't hurt, just couldn't get it out. Little hands it was good he was there. Might have been there a while unless a semi pulled in.

Danger problem #2: Hooked up Colt and friend's DH was going to give me some backing up hints. Drove around the lot for try #1 and the trailer brakes locked up. He figured out the housing for the breakaway cable was cracked so it wasn't tight. He did a repair that he thinks will be ok until I can get it in on May 1 for dewinterizing.

Between wet gravel lot & locked brakes, both Mar-E & Colt need a bath now. Guess I need to find a truck wash sooner rather than later. :x

Never thought "what did I get myself into?" (ok ~maybe once), but going back today with BIL to try hitching. Friend at work also told me where there are hills "like the Smokeys" for practicing hills, but not going to try those until the brake away housing is replaced.

Sorry for the rambles, but wanted to keep you ladies up-to-date on my experiences. I can see a new blog page to be started soon. Maybe called "My Hitch Glitches" :D

Have a good day everyone and if you're on the road, stay safel

On Edit: Forgot one more thing: Looks like they gave me a ball too big for the (forgive the technical flubs), thing ball sets into. The lock never popped down because it wasn't setting on the ball hinge in the right place. Warranty problem #2 (since they put the hitch together).

Good morning to everyone. I slept in this morning, got up early to let the dogs out but went back to bed! I had my GS here over night so he had me up early yesterday and we ran all day yesterday. I took him to the Raptor Center yesterday, had a great time visiting all the birds they have. Then we tried to get to the other side of the lake, never did figure out how to get there! He got worried that we were lost and I just told him we were on an adventure. He didn't buy it! I told him that I'm never lost, just misplaced! Don't think he bought that either! He also informed me that granma's don't drive RV's! Poor child, so much to learn about this granma!! I can see I'm going to have to work on that!

Cheryl, you'll get your hitch all figured out! And make it work for you! Donna, hope to meet up with you this summer when you're in PA. I hope to get out and work on Lola today. I need to move her so I can plug her in for awhile and get her cleaned inside. I want to take advantage of the sunny day to load stuff in before she goes away to the garage for inspection. Maybe charging the batteries will help get the genny started, didn't think about that when I tried to start it.

Have a good day and travel safe.

Good morning, everyone!

Cheryl, sounds like following your gut to have someone along with you was the right way to go. That was probably your most important lesson - always follow your instincts. Glad it dampen your enthusiasm. :D I love being a part of a group of women who are constantly in learning mode & not afraid of the adventure.
Othersharon, yes, you have your work cut out for you on your GS's image of what a grandma can do. Loved reading about your outing with him.
Sue, I second Donna's congrats on getting out of Camping world spending so little!

Glad to hear most of you have sunshine today - we have glorious thunder & rain! Not sure how my kids in Cali live without this most beautiful sound of the earth being refreshed.
Had plenty of sun yesterday - everyone was out working in their yards. I got the backyard mowed (front yard doesn't need it yet) & some running around done.

Ordered Sadie a padded harness - we've started walking more before & after work & her current one has left some sore spots under her front legs & on her chest. I've ordered one from Amazon - will arrive tomorrow - hope she likes it.

Well, better get moving...
Safe travels to anyone on the road.

I had to laugh at this Catherine. I'm a native Californian (sorry, I don't ever call it Cali) and what scared the heck out of me on my trip last year in your area was that "thunder & rain" you refer to. Rain OK, thunder and lightening? Forget it!!!

I really slept in today! Had a late breakfast and did some cleaning and straightening up this morning. Checked my Verizon usage and still have not used a full gig in four days, in spite of uploading some photos and doing a lot of surfing to plan where I want to stay on my way home to Michigan and Ohio. I do NOT understand it, but am happy to be back to being able to surf without using huge amounts of data.

I need to review my tax forms and then submit them before the 15th. Not much time left, but I did them with Turbo Tax and got them printed out. I still have one Ohio form that I need to finish but that will require a phone call or more research tomorrow as I cannot remember how much I prepaid for 2014.

I was so hot yesterday, I was about ready to completely bail out of Florida. My northern body just cannot handle this heat and humidity. I am scheduled to be here at Sebastian Inlet for another 7 days and then at Salt Springs, but I might delete Salt Springs and try to drive farther north to Georgia. I have several days at lake Lanier, and it should be a lot cooler there. I was glad to have rain last night and part of today, which helps cool things off a little. I still have my cough and am very tired, but I hope to get some energy later and ride my bike to the beach. Also have some bananas to make banana nut bread. Might even bake some real bread, also. (Assuming I can bake without heating this place up too much!)

When I lived in SoCal, the one thing I missed the most was thunderstorms! Love to listen to the thunder!

Sunny and mid 60's here today, but with 23 mph winds coming from the south. I live on the north end of the lake so there are whitecaps on this side of the bay, so no kayaking for me today  Was really hoping I could get out there and try out the new kayak today but not to be. :( Maybe later this week.

Got the day off so will do more housecleaning and then spend the afternoon watching the Masters Golf tournament (which is why I requested the day off).

Apparently there is still the stereotype out there that grandmas just stay home and bake cookies all day and knit booties in the evenings. Need to change that!

I have been feeling restless, trapped, and a bit resentful lately, because of my dad. I felt this way a year or two before I made the move to California. I feel like I am just in limbo here waiting on my dad until he is gone. When I came back here to help out with him, I figured it would only be for maybe a few years since he was doing so poorly. Now he is doing much better and could possibly be around for another 10 years or more (he seems to bounce back amazingly well from his setbacks!), which is great! But I just don't think I can do this indefinately. Between the winters and the constant demands of helping him, I am getting discouraged and depressed. I have been thinking about other options. Maybe in a year or so, move to Florida (much less expensive than California and have several friends down there). Living in California for two years was a much needed break for me mentally from both the weather and my dad. I think I need another break like that, even if it is just for another couple years or so. I am thinking maybe next spring (easier to find a place to live down there then) or the following fall (more money saved up). So far, am just throwing around ideas. It helps me to have a plan and see some light at the end of the tunnel to keep me going... does that make sense??

Hope you all have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Afternoon here and rather warm, I need to shed my long sleeved shirt. Barbie I think you should go now, you have two brothers there and I would think it's their turn to step up. Your dad hasn't really done anything to help his health over the years and that was his choice. It doesn't seem fair that you should be responsible now for his decisions. Just my opinion but I do worry about you, life is too short to live for years being in a situation that compromises your heath and sanity when there are options.
I need to head to the dog food store as I am almost out of treats. I would have three unhappy little dogs if we run out. Probably should stop and get something for our dinner but having just had lunch I'm not inspired to think that far ahead.
