Good Morning,

Looks like everybody's sleeping in this morning, so I guess I'll start the Coffee. Cereal and homemade applesauce for breakfast this morning.

Hard to believe that we are into the last week of February. Doesn't it seem like it was just New Year's, then heading to the end of January and next weekend we start into March. Heads up, 2 weeks from this weekend we change over to Daylight Savings Time (March 8th).

Cheryl, any luck at the RV show yesterday? Your criteria sounds like mine was when I was out looking. My first trailer was a Rockwood Mini Lite, 18 ft. Had nice inside storage and the greatest thing I liked was having a window in front. That one had a slide and made it so roomy with all the windows. Sold that when economy tanked and expenses got tight. Now own a Sportsman 190. Here again, lots of windows including a front one again, plus plenty of storage and a great pass through exterior storage area up front. LIghtweight. A bit Plain Jane as compared to other models, but with some creativity by the owner, you can really deck them out to what you want. Most of us tend to do that anyway. Heading off to church in a while here. Stayed above zero last night and was in upper 20's here yesterday. Felt nice after that sub zero cold, the which is coming back tonight, although not as bad as last week. low predicted to -16.

Pat, Katherine, glad to see you two post yesterday. Was wondering how things were going with you. Katherine, sounds like you are ready to retire. Any old excuse is looking good right now and taking care of a new grand is a darn good one Seems like everybody's busy dong something even if nothing earth shaking. Just keeps us busy. House cleaning and snow blowing were on my agenda yesterday and letting Molly out to play and roam around a lot too. Was admiring her trail system through the snow here, yesterday. A tribute to a dog's ingenuity. She has 3 snow rams off my deck at different points and from those ramps a system of interconnecting trails takes here all over my yard including one around the fence perimeter. It's a very intricate network and amazing to look over. The snow is about a foot and a half deep so everyday she goes through her trails to make sure they are open if it snows. And I keep a nice cleared area for her to potty in, but does she use it, noooooo..... Sarah, the video of the trucks sliding on the hil to your home was on the Weather Channel this morning.

FL weather took a turn for the better yesterday. Warmed up enough I actually shed my long johns and sweat suit for jeans and long sleeve shirt.
On Thursday I relocated from McIntosh to Weeki Wachee. I'm at the park where Dawn and her brother Paul have settled. Gloria was already here and Diana C. and our new retiree Carolyn P joined us on Friday.
We took a short ride over to see the Gulf yesterday and enjoy some fresh grouper for lunch. Think we are going to repeat that scenario today except will be going to different dining spot directly on the beach.
Sue, thanks for letting me know the video made national coverage. For those who missed it here is a link to update as well as the original. This was shot on the hill leading to my house; looks like the slide started just below my lower drive way. Very glad I wasn't trapped at home then.

well, it is the day the needy neighbor comes back to get the camper. Will do just a few chores and get ready to run to the airport. Birthday dinner for #1 grandson last night was delish, steak and shrimp. Could certainly go for more of that.
but off to get some things done and not sit on the computer all morning. Ya'll have a great day, be safe, be warm and be healthy.

Good Morning All, Well, heavens to betsy, its raining here!!! Not much, but the streets are all shinny. I spent yesterday at the daughters watching her watch her hew grandson and my great-grandson!!! This baby has many loving relatives and his parents are great with him!

Sarah, that truck video was amazing...and I've never had fresh grouper...I need to return to Florida one of these winters. When I first heard of the town WeekiWaschee I thought people were teasing me. Wish I were there with you all right now.

Saturday MC was so full of news....OtherSharon and BJ..I have never experienced what you are going through with the pipes etc. It does not sound like fun at all!

Catherine, really, really??? Going to do IT!!! A new grand in July for you. I'm sure we will have some type of a GTG. A good friend of my grandson is coming to Lawrence for a basketball game next weekend. He is excited to get tickets as he said all the games are sold out. I told him to bring warm clothes!

Sue, loved the the tale of Molly and the trails through the snow. What a joy she is for you, and for us the hear the stories of her.

Pat, looked up Terry Redlin...very nice print you bought. I like all of his prints too!

I had an oil painting that I bought down in Mexico years ago. I really liked it because it was such a peaceful setting. I must attempt to find out what happened to it and retrieve it.

Carolb and Ava, you guys are having too much fun with four pups and a needy neighbor!

I haven't had breakfast yet, so off to the kitchen to find out what is in the fridge.

It’s just plain cold…and we’re in the middle of calving season. This picture was posted by my oldest son on FB this morning. He has put his little brother to work. Lots of first year heifers who need a little help with the birthing process. Ryan’s quote was “He’s a human nurse one day and a cow nurse the next. Let’s hope he washes his hands between gigs!” Besides being a RN Sean is also a licensed vet’s assistant….and his Ryan makes sure that he benefits from it…for free!



Our girl’s night out turned out to just be the original four of us. The younger group stood us up and went to a wedding dance instead…we couldn’t understand why! Actually it was a fun night without the younger ones….but we did miss hearing all the local gossip! We decided we probably need to leave home more to know what’s going on in town!

Lyn, Terry Redlin is a well-known artist in the Midwest. There is a beautiful art gallery with many of his original paintings in Watertown SD. If any of you are in the area it is definitely worth the time to stop and see it. Major tourist attraction in the town. He quit painting about 8-9 years ago because of health problems related to the lead in the paints he used. He is suffering from dementia. So the value of his work only increases. Jon Crane is another artist you might enjoy looking up. He has several paintings of a church about 4 miles from my parent’s home. Autumn Grace and Touching Heaven. Also does a lot of paintings of the Black Hills. Beth…you would probably enjoy those. He has a gallery in Hill City. There is a local artist, www.jolenesteffen.com just across the river in Nebraska and I have a couple of her pieces. All of her work is of local places. Many of her painting are from Lewis and Clark Lake where we camp. Some things to look at if any of you are bored and surfing the web.

Donna - have fun at the gtg but just go with the flow if rain comes. Sometimes rainy days can be fun.

Alice nice that the needy neighbor may soon be out of your hair and that dinner sounds yummy, wish I had that instead of ... must have been really bad, cant even remember last nights dinner.

What a lovely day Lyn with the little one. How exciting for a great-grandson!

Sue thanks for posting your links. I actually just looked at your mods yesterday since I remembered you posting them, but missed the first one. Finally made it thru the entire RV show in 2 days ~ let me clarify - finally made it thru all the TT's at the RV show. Too many to see and then back to revisit the ones I saw on Friday. Since it's a big show, it would be nice if all sizes and manufacturers could be there to see them all, but that would be impossible I think.

I saw a nice Shadow Cruiser 195WBS http://cruiserrv.com/products-2015/shadow-cruiser-2015/floor-plans-shadow-cruiser with a slide and a corner shower, but with the couch, can't really see out of windows if I'm stuck in side. Plus it's about $5K more than I want to spend for a 'learner', the weight is close but I could pull it with Mar-E (F-150).

For smaller & in the range I'd like to spend, I still like the Viking Clipper 17FQ http://www.coachmenrv.com/product-details.aspx?LineID=64&Image=6732 but at less than 8' wide, it would be quite cramped with me & Zorro (aka Tubby (not really)). Doesn't have corner shower, but at least a window I could look out from at the dinette.

I didn't really see any TT's less than 20' with the rear door which would have the cabinet space like Sue's that I liked. Didn't see any Sportsman models' at all. Looks like Sportsman dealers in IL are few & far between. The closest with some in stock is in Colona, IN.

One salesman did bring up a good point about dinettes. He said look for them to be on the entry side because if you are stuck inside, you would at least me looking at your campsite instead of watching your neighbors shenanigans.

Too much to think about (again), so probably not getting a show price or buying within a week or so, but I can always haggle ~ or go back to last year's choice of Summerland 2020QB with BIG windows. So back to surfing the net.

Today's quiet - Mom's coming over. She can't balance her check book again. I think she is why I am mathematically challenged sometimes ~ it's in the genes.

Afternoon all,

Our dinette is on the driver's side. Depending upon where we are parked we maybe looking in our neighbors site or we maybe looking out into the woods. There are times it would be nice to see what is going on in our site but I spend most of my time outside anyways. I often keep the shades down for privacy and to minimize the sun heating up the camper. Pro's and con's to each design, just depends on your personality I guess.

Poor calf, one minute it's nice and warm and the next minute it's freezing outside wearing a wet coat.

Hi all, Well i am finally excited!!! Road trip coming up in July my wonderful friend Peggy is coming to Wa. and Chewy (my dog) and I will take her home. Oh good more lobster and wonderful new country to see it will be exciting !!!over to the New England states down to Ga. take a right to az, spend the winter and home to Seattle in March.

I must have gotten the mathematical gene from my dad. He was basically a purchasing agent for the Air Force, I have a degree in Accounting and my sister is doing about the same job my dad had but with a government contractor for the Army. My dad would be gone for months at a time so I started balancing my mother's check book when I was in junior high. I think I used up all my ability. I can't tell you how much I hate having to get the farm information together for the taxes. My husband has some land in an estate and I kept the books for the estate many years. Talk about a thankless job. When one of the heirs made some smart ass remark I told them all they could find someone else to keep the books, I was done.

The weather is nice this morning, it's almost 80. The front must be coming through because it's getting windy. It's suppose to be in the 30's tonight.

Pat, your younger son is going to be in big demand. He won't have to worry about having a job. Getting paid might be a problem.

A local artist rented my mother-in-law's country store for years. He must have painted our old barns and junk equipment many times. He painted Harold on his horse cutting a cow. He didn't know anything about painting horses so anyone that knew horses knew it wasn't a good painting.

I think I'll go see if I can finish my rose bushes before it decides to rain.

Puppies and snow; grandbabies; RV shopping; calf delivery; warming in Florida; needy neighbors leaving - busy, busy! Catherine, glad you were presented with such a great reason to retire!! Lyn, I was surprised to see you have rain so had to check our forecast - not wanting it for the memorial ride on Wednesday! Pat, love the Redlin piece! I came across a farm print years ago that reminded me of Kansas farms of my grandparents and where I lived until 10. It now hangs in Washington State daughter's home.

I moved up here from Yuma after grocery shopping this morning. Realized yesterday I was nearly out of propane and wasn't chancing it so didn't even make my morning coffee!

We took the new RZR out yesterday and I drove some. Nice to do so again. Carolb, when L gets a motorcycle endorsement, he can drive the SS! He could drive it without, but wouldn't be good if he got stopped. Saw the first cactus blooms of the year - always exciting for me!

We entertained our neighbors last evening at the casino as I loaded the SS on the trailer. Long story short, L has been guiding me as I load, but I need a system for lining up to get on the trailer when alone. It is a tight fit! He finally walked off and I loaded the dang thing!! I told him the other day I was going to unload here in Q and he wanted to know how I was going to load it again. Didn't know he was planning to follow me around the country all summer!! ARG!!

On a good note, I doubled my money in the casino last night! Not a great amount but what the heck!

How about some yellow body tape on the ramp and floor. You can just run the wheels up the body tape, and as long as you stay on the tape, it should fit in. At least I think that might work. The tricky part will be getting the tape in the right places.

As I usually say about sales people, take what he said about the dinette with a grain of salt - as with anything else they say! My last rig, my big window was on the drivers side and it was find. Now, I do like that I have a big window on both sides now ... but as already stated, it all depends on where you're parked. I like light so have my shades up all day most of the time. And what I like about a Class C (or A) is the big window out front, also. I don't like any of them blocked unless I want them blocked. I honestly believe that we full timers do spend more time in the rig than those of you part time or in vacation mode.

I only have one more site to fill to have to go change the campground signs back to "full".

While I totally understand Judi's problems in that Portland cg - here we appreciate the people who take sites most appropos for them. We only take rigs up to 29' and there are only a couple sites they'll fit in, then a couple for 25+, etc. Remember, this cg was built by the CCC in the 1930's and not much has changed (including how unlevel most sites are - some worse than others). That said, I love it - but right now, our longest site is taken up by a car with a tent for several days. To be honest, I think some of the "smaller" sites for tents are nicer, but rigs just won't fit - and it would be nice if they'd make (on the reservation system) specific sites for tents only - but it'll never happen.
I am good at what I do, however, as I just got two rigs in sites rated for smaller rigs. I really do know what can fit in most of them ... but it's up to the driver. Some don't mind working around the trees and boulders, others are terrified of them.

The volunteer coordinator and his wife are having us volunteers for a potluck tonight. Actually, they are fixing the main foods, we are just bringing some small sides. My co-camphost and wife have other plans, so it'll be a small group. This will be their last week - this coming Sat our last day working together. I get to train the new person coming.

Good afternoon!

Not morning but as I was out of town over the weekend thought I'd poke my head in here anyways!

Had a very nice weekend with my bff Carrie, just kickin' back and really not doing anything! We picked up pizzas and a RedBox movie on Saturday night and just chilled with that and a couple of nice bottles of wine. Sometimes it's just so nice to get away from home and all the problems I've been having lately and relax.

The motorhome turned out to be another dud, at 31 feet it was way too much for me and it had multiple issues. Too bad because if it didn't have the issues I "may" have considered it even at 31 ft. So back to the drawing board and still looking! Anyway sometimes chasing the dream is half the fun!

To those of you who say you don't post because your lives aren't interesting I say, yes please post! I enjoy hearing about everything that's going on from new grandbabies to rainy weather and all in between! It's just like catching up with good neighbors and seeing what all's been happening in their world.
