Another Chilly Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Another Chilly Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Feb 18, 2015 7:28 am

Morning all,

Been reading through yesterday's posts and guess we are all so ready for this cold winter to be over. Well, all but the west coasters anyway. We set a record -24 here on Sunday. Actual air temp, not wind chill, but I have been in colder.

Miss Molly is stretched out next to me here on the floor, we both have breakfast in our tummies and I expect she will head for bed before long. I will be heading for a bath as I have both Chiropractor and Dentist appts. later this morning.

Barbie, sorry to hear your car is acting up again, but at least they gave you a loaner. Get thee a can of Prestone Spray DeIcer and you won't have to scrape off frost in that cold. Nancy, so nice to see you back. Hope you post once in awhile even if you don't have an RV. Not a requirement on here. Martha, thanks for the description of a King cake. Sounds yummy. And fattening  Kathleen, how wonderful getting a call from Carolb.

Nothing else exciting around here, so time to move along. Have a nice day everyone, keep warm :)

Good morning Sue,, CArol, Donna & everyone!

Sue, you are having some mighty cold weather up your way. I know you're used to it, but enough already! LOL! CArol, we had the same rain you did most of the day yesterday. At least the temperatures were mild. Donna, I know you're getting excited about going to the GTG next week and am looking forward to hearing all about it.

Our friends really enjoyed the German pancakes last night and we've already said we'll celebrate Shrove Tuesday next year the same way. We woke up in the low 40's this morning but tomorrow morning and Friday morning will be in the 20's. The temperature at our home in MD this morning was -2 and the schools there are still closed because of snow, so I am ever so grateful that we are here. The sun is shining and life is good! Have a good day everyone!

Had to get up early and go pick up my Jeep (new oxygen sensor) and return the loaner (POS, but at least it ran!). It is nasty outside this morning! -10 below with a -30 below windchill! I don't know how I ever survived 64 days straight of below zero temps last winter, especially without a garage! Made a couple stops on the way home and now am enjoying a chocolate covered French donut with French Vanilla hot cocoa (with a shot of Baileys), while my thighs and feet thaw out! Staying inside the rest of the day!!

Got my perm cut off yesterday (hated the curls) and plan to frost my hair today. I don't look good with dark hair, it washes me out too much. Besides, my grey hairs show up and I start yanking them out. Will have bald patches pretty soon if I don't disguise them with blonde!

Looks like the ferrets are ready to come out to play. Oh, that reminds me! I need to go downstairs and feed the cat I am sitting for! Better get on that!

Hope you all stay warm and cozy today! :D March is around the corner so hopefully this weather will start to get better soon!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I set myself free from coloring my hair when I turned 65... am so free now... my hair has a natural body to it and looks nice most of the time... hope the frost turns out good Barbie... that cold is brutal... there seems to always be a much colder place than here!

My helper comes in an hour so I need to get moving... have not had breakfast just had one cup of coffee... thinking of coffee I had let my coupons for k-cups expire so I called them... they didn't renew the coupons they did one better and gave me my choice of two free boxes of k-cups and free shipping... so nice of them... I bought another box so now I have 3 boxes if anyone drops by...

Decided not to get the spine injections as am not in as much pain... they got a letter from the insurance company saying they would not cover the cost... it is a long letter several pages long... I do not understand how they can make a judgment without being specialists... will call them later and find out what is going on... Next year I will not have Coventry Insurance...

Take care everyone and stay warm...
Kathleen or Kathy

Same here, cold cold cold. supposed to be record low tonight of -11 :o with a wind chill advisory today. ACK I just called the people who work on our generator as I don't remember it doing it's weekly test run. It will cost a lot for them to come check and they can't make it until tomorrow but will be worth the peace of mind. We are supposed to have freezing rain this weekend so figure if it should go out tonight we can drive to a friends but if we get ice and it goes we are up a creek or up a snowbank...
Yesterday afternoon we had a few neighbors over for happy hour and it was really fun. Wiggy the dogs only doggy friend got to come and they all had a good time and shared their treats and toys nice. We are trying to get people to socialize more as it gets pretty lonely in the winter. In the summer we at least talk outside and keep up but during winters we don't keep in touch.
I don't think there will be many there for my yoga class today but maybe people are tired of being inside and will brave the cos. I think temps are in the teens but wind is 15-20. I'm only letting Mitzi out during the day and not as often as she wants, she doesn't want to come in and it is getting too cold for her to stay out as long as she wants. She frequently forgets to potty while she is out as much too busy so uses her paper when she comes in...
Guess I better get something together for lunch. Keep warm everyone, sorry it is so cold for everyone who are in FL expecting warm weather.

good morning ladies
just made breakfast and checking in while I enjoy a little toast and coffee. Will still have time for a nap even though we have early release today and have to go back an hour earlier. Notice yesterday I wasn't getting my aol mail I sent myself from my cell, pictures...I send them to myself so I can get them saved on my computer. Sent a bunch a couple days ago and it was no where to be found. Did a little research, come to find out I hadn't cleaned my cache for 90 days! I clean cookies and such often but my aol cache got ignored. Anywho, all is well and my mail is showing up again.
I'd love to get out in the yard and do some yard work but my nap calling my name  Yard work will be there when I get home from work.
Ya'll have a great day, be safe and be warm.

I think forums like this will probably not continue a lot longer with all that are using only the social media sites. I hope that's not true, because I don't really get to know many from those sites like we are able to here - but fewer and fewer are joining, and that's going to be a detriment, too. So, for those of us still here - we'll have to continue to keep this the best it can be :)

Just finished a hike. Not the long one I wanted to do today (need to do laundry and some home chores) but, oh my, were the birds out. I didn't have my camera because hadn't intended to take that trail (Peaches decided we needed to and she was right). Most of the birds I would have wanted pictures of weren't posing, so it was good to just see them. By size, I'm pretty sure I saw a Ferruginous Hawk on our walk - that was awesome. And we were pretty close before he/she flew away. Of course, lots of the various types of Jays and the comical acorn woodpeckers as well as many others.

I noticed the lack of postings also, seems to be mostly this week. My guess (hope?) is that everyone is stuck in one place due to cold & snow and are just laying low for a while.

I'm not on Facebook so I for one sure hope this site doesn't not go bye-bye. I haven't had a chance to practice anything you've ladies taught me so far and I'll be lost without you!

I surely hope this forum continues - it's a lot different from communicating via FB or other like sites. Hopefully, as spring arrives there will be more posts.

Not a bad day here on the Oregon coast. Cool (not cold) but sun expected. The beach is beautiful and lots of dogs are having fun running around. This state park - Beverly Beach - is one of my favorite places to camp. One of the loops has full hook-ups, even cable. It's a beautiful place, and I'll try to post photos to my blog tomorrow.

I also stopped coloring my hair years ago. It was a difficult decision but hey, it's grey and that's that. And I like it.

I hope the weather improves soon for those in other areas. Travel safely and stay warm.

My grey hairs are all in one spot so it would look odd to let it go as is.

I think because it is winter, no one is doing much but just hunkering down, so nothing much to post about. Come spring, it will get busier on here, I am sure, as we start making plans and heading out for the summer!

Our windchill advisory was just cancelled! Yay! It is up to -25 below windchill now!

I feel a nap coming on...

And, I, too, hope we continue - best way to do that is to also get contributing new blood - so continue to tell others about us.

Afternoon, I almost opened Coffee this morning at 5:30 am as I was heading to bed. Didn't get off work till 5 am. l could not think of anything witty to put in the header

While I have an account on FB I really don't like putting my life up there or out there. One of the exec's at Google, I think it was, stated that kids have so much of their lives posted on the internet that they will probably have to change their names by age 25 or risk not being able to find a job. My daughter is a manager for a Major retailer and the 1st thing she does is check an applicants social media.

Well the GB just got home from the doctor. They think she has a stomach virus which was the cause of 4 "pops" and 4 loads of laundry to wash all the bed linins, the basket of clean laundry she nailed, etc... She seems much happier today.

Stay warm, I see it's time I get ready for work

I also hope this forum continues. It's my choice not to do Facebook, so I really enjoy reading things here. My life is pretty boring unless I'm traveling, so not much to post. While traveling I often wonder if anyone wants to read what I'm doing. Hopefully things will warm in those areas having such cold weather and more members will post as they head out for the season. While walking my dogs the other day, I took pics of a number of beautiful blossoming trees. I was going to post them but didn't fearing those stuck in the cold and snow might not like me boasting about the beautiful weather in California. I can guarantee, however, that spring is coming so don't give up. It will happen.
