Snowy Saturday Morning

Good Morning Eceryone,

Ground is white outside my window this morning. Less than an inch expected, but around 1-3 for tomorrow and more next week. They are warning us to have blowers, shovels and plows ready. Both my neighbors and mine are up at dealers, mine getting repaired and her having blower mounted on tractor. Mine's been there for almost 3 weeks, bout time Iget it back :!:

Got through the "procedure" with no problem yesterday. No more for 10 years. Even drinking the "stuff" the day before wasn't bad. Had mixed it in with chilled Gatorade and it was good and cold. Also drank a nice warm cup of chicken broth about half hour before, so whether that helped or not, who knows ;)

Had a nice post going here and lost it all, so had to start over. Anybody want breakfast, I have cereal, bacon, eggs, sausage. Out of bread and milk though, so you would need to bring some ;)

Need to extend a Welcome to all the new people who have joined. Don't spend a lot of topi me reading on this IPad as it's hard on the eyes after awhile, so I'm behind on forum news.

Sounds like Kathkeen is in for a mini GTG, maybe even early Thanksgiving dinner. What better way to do that then with forum sisters :)

CArol, ca feel you wanting to get out on your own and. E your own boss again. Hang tight, it's coming.

Time to mo e along here and quite jabbering. Have a great day everyone.

G'morning Sue & all to follow :)

Now Sue, why is it that I can picture your house/yard with a dusting of snow :? Oh, I remember--I woke to that when I was at your place in May! Hope you get all your snow removal gear squared away before the bigger snowfall hits you!

Wow! Kathleen, you'd do a Tday gtg for all of us?? After I posted yesterday, I realized Kathy & Cheryl are close by, & would love to see Kathy again & meet Cheryl! BJ, would it be too far for you to come up??? Kathleen, I'll PM or call you--tentatively I'm thinking Sat (22nd)? I could be there Fri afternoon & help cook! Oh my, that would be soooooo fun :P

Anita, "unhappy feelings"? So many on the forum have been dealing with health issues too--their own or their loved ones. We're here for support when you go through the rough times :) & we love hearing about your good times too--like your upcoming polar bear excursion :P

With that, wishing y'all a great day & safe travels always! 8-)

good morning ladies
with all the talk about snow in other parts of the country.....brrrrrr, I'm just so glad I don't have to deal with it. I'm a real
sissy when it comes to being cold. Been shopping for a patio heater, one of those that hooks to a propane tank. I love sitting
out in the morning before sunrise, watching to see what little desert critter might cross the field out there but now its
getting cold and a heater would be nice. Dishes are done, trash is ready to take out and a few items put by the door to take
out to the shed soon as its daylight. Been on a roll all morning, left the electric heater going all night so it would be toasty
in here this morning. But think I'll go fill the propane tanks today and have the furnace ready to go if I need it, and although
I don't do much cooking, I'll have the stove/oven in case I need that too. In the meantime I just use my little electric burner.
Sad news for someone in the park....their really nice park model caught fire and the fire dept came screaming in here yesterday. I heard them but so many times its because some senior had a heart attack so I never even went outside. Didn't smell any smoke but when I went back to work the police had that one street blocked off. What a shame, but I certainly
hope no one was lost to smoke inhalation. Will have to make a trip to the clubhouse and find out some details.
Did some yard work yesterday, weeds and poop patrol. Always some of those chores to get done cause we certainly know
when ya have dogs, the poop never ends.
Will get the laundry going soon and not wait till sunday for that. I want to relax and enjoy one lazy day, back to work on
monday and day off on tuesday.
Ya'll have a great day and be safe.

Good Morning from chilly Normal! Grandson Tim came through surgery ok. He is resting this morning Margie is giving him pain meds to keep ahead of the pain. He will not have to be as long in a sling as they thought! He did not have to have his arm immobilized. Physical therapy will start next Friday... Wow I am so pleased... and he was hungry for real food so my idea of a light supper has flown out the window!
Woke up at 6 so that was better than 3 yesterday.
Poor Shadow his favorite toy no longer squeaks... We had three green sort of soft balls two fell into the black hole... he would run around for hours with it in his mouth squeaking away!! He is such a happy guy!
Ava it sounds so relaxing to sit on your deck! Sue very glad things went ok... I swore I would never get it done again... Carolb am so looking forward to your visit... Yes I will fix a real Thanksgiving dinner but will buy the pumpkin pie... Meijers has wonderful pumpkin pies! (never thought I would say that about any but mine!)
Please are there any others in this area? Normal/Bloomington Il... There are spaces to park cars as my neighbor is visiting another man! She will stay there for a month... There is room in my mobile home for anyone that would like to stay a night or two or three!! Looks like maybe 22nd... will finalize it later...
One of my most memorable times was having Thanksgiving dinner with Sarah and Wendy in 2010 in my new to me MH...
Time to quit rambling and think of what to make for dinner for daughter, son in law and Tim...
Have a great day everyone!

Kathleen, sounds like you'll have a great party. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times, even to spend alone. I like thinking about and giving silent, and sometimes vocal, thanks for so much.

I got little sleep last night. Twitchy early on and had no clue why. Then my body sent me rushing for the commode, explaining that it knew something I didn't. Supposed to be working, but not sure what my problem is so called in. I know I need get moving soon and at least get Peaches out. But she was up and down with me all night and is sleeping now, the good girl.

If I'm smart I'll put away everything I've got out and have this home road worthy. Just over a week!

Good Morning !!! Gosh Beth, sounds like some nights I have every once in a great while. I eat or drink something that about midnight my body decides it doesn't like. Hope you feel better soon. Getting things ready to move sounds like a great idea, thinking weather there is not going to be too good there soon. Kathleen, sounds like party time at your house. I buy my pies too, Mrs Smith and I, do great things together ;) I bake everything but pies, unless I make without crust. Doing my own crust anymore is a big mess, in the RV not fun :) Besides don't want to break my record, haven't made pies since my DH passed. Sue, not good thing, snow fighting equipment in the shop, and its coming at ya this week, if weather channel is correct. Alaska, could probably tell us today how right they are, sure sounds like an awful storm coming.
Glad your test went smoothly. I had made my broth and jello ahead too and found having that in my stomache made that stuff go down better and stay there :D

Hope you all have a great week end, thinking weather will be playing a big part in plans. We have rain coming , think some of you have maybe some bad stuff. Take care , stay safe and those on the roads be especially careful in some areas of the country.

CArol :)

Good Morning,

Ava, I left the heater on last night, too - thought it was set lower but its thermostat isn't the greatest.

Kathleen, so pleased your grandson has better news than was anticipated!!! Sue, glad you are done with 'the' test. Beth, feel better!!

An early Thanksgiving GTG in Illinois - how fun!!

My morning started with an e-mail sent late last night by my daughter. Grandson had a rough first day back at school Thursday with all the questions about his absence. Yesterday he saw the school counselor who says GS is still in suicide mode. He and my daughter have a 4-day weekend and he has his first counseling appointment Monday - praying that person will know what is best for him and his safety. This is just so hard to wrap my head around.

Today will be getting ready to leave here tomorrow. Think I'll spend tomorrow night at a nearby casino then head to Salome on Monday. LeRoy has a desert ride planned for Tuesday.

Wishing you all a happy day!

Good morning all! Wow, sounds like lots of things going on with everyone! Sue, I'm like you and need to either get the snowblower repaired or know if I will have to bite the bullet and get a new one this year. Mine is really old and they aren't sure if they can even get parts for it. Carolb, if you come through my area again just know you are welcome to stay in my driveway again! Would love to have you and the pups! A pario heater sounds so nice, Ava. I would need several to keep my porch warm! Guess I'll just stay in rhe house and look out the windows!

I have a friend visiting from SC for a couple of weeks so we have been running everyday. Went up to the casino in NY yesterday and had to deal with snow showers both coming and going! Yuck! Amazing to me sometimes that a couple of hours driving can produce such different weather conditions. So I think we'll stick around this area or south of here and hope the snow doesn't catch up to us! We have so much to do and so little time to do it! Today is going to be taken up with a birthday party at my oldest son's house for his stepdaughters so that'll be fun! My friend knew my kids when they were little and we all lived in Holland but hasn't seen them in years so that'll be fun too! We went to the apple farm the other day and bought apples to make a couple of Dutch apple cakes but so far the apples are still sitting there waiting! One of the foods I miss from Holland. My neighbor used to make them and they were so good! I made one years ago but just didn't get it right so never did it again! Better luck this time, I hope!

Beth, I hope you start feeling better. Maybe your body is just telling you you needed to slow down and rest a bit. I hope any of you having health problems have a bettter day today and if you are on the move, please stay safe.

Sue, sounds like you better get into town to pick up your snow blower, AND milk and bread! Glad I am not there.

I am in Amarillo TX and decided to spend another day and get some work done. I also really did not want another day of driving. Will be heading for Lake Arrowhead SP tomorrow for a day or two and then on to Dallas. Has anyone ever stayed in the COE park that is just north of Dallas??

Nice and sunny, but a bit chilly, which is fine. Been fighting with flies last couple of days. Let one out, zapped two others, and still have one wily only left. Will get him soon, I hope because they drive me crazy. Got to make a hardware trip tomorrow, so will try to get some fly traps of some sort.

Been staying up with my three classes, but just barely. We use the test banks that come with the textbooks for midterms and final exams and the staff enters them into the system. After students take an exam, the system tells me how many students got each question right or wrong, and boy were there some screwy questions. (I did not look at them ahead of time because we are talking 300 questions and I was busy getting a new course updated. Students get a random sample from those so no two students get exactly the same test to discourage cheating.) When 15 students all get a question wrong, there is something wrong with the question, not the student. So I spent three hours last night adjusting scores for some questions. Will change bad questions for next semester. Not easy because of software, but managed. Students will be happy, I hope. I really do work hard for the money they pay me.

Hope everyone has a good day. I cooked sausage and heated some crepes for breakfast--YUM!

Judy, a friend just stayed and liked Ray Roberts State Park, but it's about an hour north of Dallas, I believe. He elected to stay in the overflow area to use solar, though.

Way past morning! Mornings are just not convenient for me to get on here when I am getting ready for work.

We are in for it! :o Starting tomorrow night and all day Monday, snow, snow and more snow! Up to a foot of it!
Glad I have Monday off so I can just sit home, hunker down and relax! Winter is coming in with a vengeance!
My customers were telling me they are getting their snow blowers and snowmobiles ready! I need to dig out my boots and winter things. So not ready for this

Wish I could join the Thanksgiving GTG with you gals since my Thanksgiving won't be too fun here with both my brothers (and probably their wives) mad at me.

Speaking of pies...I love Marie Callender's pies! The Chocolate Silk and the Dutch Apple are awesome! I am not a fan of pumpkin pie, so don't know how good hers is, but willing to bet it is good too.

Got a call from Life Station today about my dad. It is similar to Life Alert. Apparently, he was outside hitting something with a crow bar (??!! ??!!) and accidently pushed the button on his wrist band without knowing it. The Lifestation person couldn't contact him on the intercom, so contacted 911 and my voicemail (I was doing a haircut and missed it). Within minutes, the EMT's showed up. False alarm this time but good to know that it works outside too, in case something does happen to him in the yard (and God only knows that is a real possibility! ).

Hope you all had a great day! Sue, get that snowblower back before this storm gets to you!

Nice to know the Life Station is working - and that it wasn't necessary this time!

Going to get snow or snow and ice or ice here. They can't decide just what we'll get. But my guess is we'll get a bunch of snow, also. And then temps are really going to drop. Brrrr. Wish they'd say I can leave tomorrow lol I'd be headed south and get as far as I could before that snow comes in tomorrow night. Oh well - can dream, can't I?

Beth, I hope you don't get stuck there after your job is done. Maybe it will start warming up after next week and melt some of the snow. I sure wouldn't want to be driving in this stuff in an RV.

I am SO glad I have a garage this winter! Last year was horrid! Just bought a windshield cover to put on at work to keep the snow/ice off. Wish I could afford a remote car starter. That would come in handy for when I get off work and need to warm up my Jeep and clear off windows, etc.

Barbie, what part on MN are you in? My son lives in Brook Park near Mora. I hear from you more often than I hear from him so figure if you are near enough I might count on your weather reports to know what they face. :?

I am just west of Minneapolis. Mora is about 50 miles north of Minneapolis. Their weather might be slightly different than what we have around here but you will have some idea of what might be happening there. This storm that is heading here is going to hit the Twin Cities hard, but not quite as bad up north, but still 8-10 inches there. We are expected to get 12 to 18 inches here!
