Sunday Morning in Van Riper State Park

Good Morning from the U.P.
Settled comfortably in my site here in Van Riper State Park. This is a nice park, been here many times as it's near the resort I also stay at up here and many times come down with dogs to walk around. Quite a few empty campsites this weekend. This park is about 30 miles west of Marquette and a lot of the local population of Negaunee and Ishpeming, about 20 miles up the road, camp here, so it's like being in with a big extended family as so many know each other. As was, I was invited over to join a couple by their fire last night and not long after we were joined by the campground hosts. A lot of people were waving on the way up and down the road. It's one of the reasons I so love this area of the U.P. The friendliness of the people.
I checked in here yesterday and came sailing in and set up camp, then remembered I forgot to stop at the dump station and add more water to my water tank Can't believe I did that. But doesn't matter as I have water left from Copper Harbor, as I was getting jugs of hot water straight from the tap in the laundry room to wash dishes etc. while I was up there, so wasn't really using much water from my 20 gallons. It's a bit more than half full and I'm right near the facilities here as well.
Cloudy out this morning and looking like rain is moving in again. It hasn't been the greatest week in terms of camping weather. Have seen about maybe less than 24 hours of sun all week. Otherwise cloudy, muggy and damp or just plain cloudy. Tomorrow we will be heading for home to unload and give this TT a good cleaning inside and out, then get ready to roll again. But next trip will not be extended, probably a few days closer to home. Sassy is doing okay this week on this trip, but I can see where she is slowing down and it's getting more taxing on her physically. Her poor old body is wearing out. She is probably going to be glad to get home to her familiar house and nice soft carpeting again, so she can rest. She sleeps pretty much all day and isn't really up to long walks anymore.
Will be heading off to church in a bit here and not sure what the afternoon is going to bring. Might work on scrapbook or whatever. Was hoping to rent a kayak for awhile, but not with current weather. Will probably make a final stop over to Maple Ridge as well.
Sarah, glad to hear Nicky seems to be feeling better. Poor baby. Surgery is hard on our fur kids especially when they have it twice. Will pray for good news on the biopsy.
Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday everyone.
