Morning all,

Snowy morning out there. Winter Storm Warning in effect till this afternoon. Must be at least a foot of snow out there now. Owner is plowing out the drive and around the resort. Will be doing the road before long. Sassy went out earlier and wasn't happy at all. Snow up to her tummy. Wasn't out long.

So, going to be an inside day of puttering around today. Bit of woodburning practice and some route planning for possible trip west this summer. That of course will depend on Sassy as with her arthritis and eyesight issues, I will not travel with her. Be too hard on her. Also with late spring we are having, trying to get yard and trailer and all ready by June is going to be hectic, so will see how it all goes. Can go later in August for that matter too and avoid the major summer crowds or maybe work in so it fits in with the KS GTG. But having fun with the maps and all that stuff.

Irmi, hope weather clears so you can start venturing home. I know Soos is already thinking about it as well and others are waiting to get out and go places. JudyJB, MI is into spring downstate, so you won't have any problems there. Friend over near Kalamazoo says her grass is green, trees are budding etc. I think I still have a few snow piles in my yard, but have bare ground to start working on as well. Up here in the U.P. especially in this area and near Marquette, the snow was really going till this week, but it's very wet, so will melt fast. Frost level in Marquette is down to almost 10 feet, so they are starting to and are gong to, have issues with underground utilities as the ground settles back down after being heaved by frost.

Not much here for breakfast, just cereal, milk, strawberries and toast, but you are welcome. Hoping you all have a nice day out there.

G'morning Sue & all to follow :)

Sue, I forgot to tell you that my northern route home includes driving above the lake & coming in thru the UP! Will keep you posted. WELCOME HOME Kathleen! You did it!!!!!
BTW, Sharon, I hear you about panting dogs--if it weren't for mine, I'd not be so concerned about this hot weather, which is back into the 90's!

Yes, Ava's big day, her official move-in. :) Plans are to gtg this evening to help her get settled, & then celebrate! She's been working so hard at all this & still has a way to go...but I might convince her to have a sip of wine!

SNOW  Well, y'all have a great day & be safe always! 8-)

Mornin' Ladies!

Ugh! Snow! Is Mother Nature having hot flashes that she wants cooling off? lol

Here in IL it's sunny, getting warmer (yay) and hopefully I can get the TC put on the truck soon. Just want to get the truck serviced first, something my son the mechanic can do, but who knows when he can get to it? Paying customers first then poor Mom's cars.

Busy week this, got something scheduled for each day (besides work), ranging from vet visits for 2 dogs to my cousin and her 3 kids coming over to see the horses and run up & down the hill in the back yard. Bet they were asleep in the car before she got out of the driveway!

I've got biscuits & gravy, oj and coffee on, ya'll come on over!

Kathleen, I am glad you made it home safe and sound! Now to get rid of those fleas! :o

Not happy to wake up to everything covered in snow this morning! :( It will get to 40 later today so it will start melting and be gone soon tho. 66 and sunny on Easter! Yay!

Time to head off to work here. Have a good day! :D

Good Morning All, Kathlene, glad to hear of your safe arrival at home!
Casey slept until 6:30 this morning after her long walk yesterday. I do think my back is getting better with all the rest, and, the walk yesterday with Catherine didn't bother it.
Sue, living in a condo is great for just getting up and going. However make sure you would be able to live with the CC&R's!
Tomorrow I fly to Puerto Vallarta for my Grandsons destination wedding! Looking forward to a fun weekend.
Lyn

I slept in until 10:30 a.m. this morning. Problem was that I was up until 3:00 a.m. with itching from all of the insect bites on my legs. (I've got about 20 on my right leg and 10 on my left.) I noticed them a few days ago, but they are getting redder and redder. I did OK during the evening, then took a shower and went to bed at about midnight. It started to get warm under the covers and I was reading my Kindle and almost asleep when the itching for some reason got much worse. Maybe it was some light sweating or the fact that I started scratching them. I got up and took a Benadryl and then put some cortisone cream on the red spots. Did not help, so finally at about 3:00 a.m. I remembered the cream my doctor had given me for itching of a skin condition, so I looked it up online and it said it was used for insect bites, as well. Dug it out and rubbed some in on as many spots as I could find. Miraculously, it did take the itching away almost immediately. Whew!

I am pretty sure I got them about a week ago when I dumped my tanks at Buccaneer State Park in Mississippi along the coast. The previous two days had been OK, but that morning I was swarmed by hundreds of those tiny biting no-see-um bugs. I might have picked up some in West Point Lake, but I think most were older. Anyway, I am going to keep up the Benadryl. I am leaving for my aunt and uncle's house tomorrow morning, so will stop at a drug store and get more pills. (I am on Lake Lanier in northern Georgia right now--lovely place and great views from COE campsite.)

Funny thing is that I can deal with mosquitos because even when they bite me, it never leaves a welt. My dad and I were both immune to those.

So I am up and not itching, at least for now. I am beginning to think I like winter in Arizona better. Sure reduces a person's desire to go for a walk!

Judy, what's the name of that stuff? I'm just the opposite of you with mosquitos. When I get bit I end up with huge welts that last for over a week. Cortisone doesn't touch them, nor does benedryl. I'd love to have that as a last resort if I know I'm going to be somewhere that has "bughs" (spelled that way intentionally!). Actually, I'll be in San Antonio in November, and don't relish the idea that there might be some bughs there ...

Thanks!

Laura

Good morning, everyone.

Another beautiful day in San Diego. Overcast & a little cool - a perfect day as far as I'm concerned.

Enjoyed my time with Lyn & Casie yesterday - glad Casey slept so well and that the walking didn't cause Lynn any additional pain. Tina, you put it right - Lyn is a San Diego treasure!

Today is relax & do nothing day. Kids are at work/school. I'm waiting on a delivery, doing a few odd jobs around the apartment, walk down to the beach then taking kids out to dinner tonight. Will probably venture out on the bus & light rail tomorrow just to see where I can go. :D

Well, I'd better get busy - doing nothing!!!
Hope you all have a great day!
Catherine

I rarely get bit by mosquitoes anytime in San Antonio so I don't think you need to worry.

I was in San Antonio and had no trouble. Just along the coast got into trouble. I sent Laura a private message, but the prescription stuff I used is called Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream and is 0.1% strength in case anyone else wants to know.

Laura, I had a cousin who was a year younger than me and lived across the street, so we grew up together. She had reddish blond hair and very fair skin. When she got bitten by mosquitos, the blood would just run down her legs. I was always glad I did not react. Mosquitos bite me and it hurts, but there is nothing afterwards.

However, I did end up with the horrible vision gene in our family, so I guess it all evens out.

It's comments like these that make me shudder. I can't tell you how many people say this, only for me to experience bites with welts that look like I've got some horrible disease.

When I lived in MN as a teen I'd get bitten so bad in the summer that I used a table knife to scratch them, and would end up with my legs looking like I had the chicken pox. It was lovely.

I've been to Alaska. It was beautiful as long as we were on the coast and there was a breeze. When we went inland I "enjoyed" the scenery from inside the motorhome.

My first question when I'm thinking about going somewhere that I think might have bughs is, "How are the mosquitos?" If I hear, "Oh, they're not bad," the trip is off.

I'm not a wimp. But those miserable little pests will send me running for the inside of anywhere I can find in a heartbeat.

I hate them. More than anything else in the world.

Now I'm scratching just at the thought of them!
