Good Morning
Look what came strolling up to my door yesterday
Nicky did not know what to make of these strange critters (sandhill cranes, I believe). They did not seem to have a fear of people and wandered around checking out all the rigs; I assume looking for food.
For the most part yesterday was a hunker down stay inside blustery day with strong cold, wet wind and no hint of sunshine. By midnight, I gave up and unpacked the electric heater again. Today's forecast promises to be better tho right now there is still no sun and a light breeze.
Nicky and I plan to try the short cut MissMermaid told me about and see if we can walk to her place. The challenge of walking that far may be a bit much for me but figure somebody might let me sit at their picnic table for a minute if I need to stop along the way. One of my goals while in FL was to walk more and this will certainly do it.
I wish you a nice, warm day with something fun to do.

Good Morning, Love the picture Sarah, beautiful birds. I so hope the weather improves so you can get out and walk more but at least you can get out! I don't know what it's like at your AL home but here the ice is frozen so hard now I can't go out as I'm not heavy enough to break through and get any traction. DH has been chopping away at making a path to the car. Think he is feeling guilty about having the whole garage filled with his art stuff that we can't get a car inside. Oh well, if I had a choice I'd pick this weather over hot and humid, I don't even try to go out when a heat wave comes.
My neighbor reminded me in an email this morning that the birds are really thirsty. I put a pan of water on the back porch but think they may not be willing to get that close to the house. It is funny to watch Toby run, he has it down now and races across the yard stiff legged. The cold doesn't seem to bother him and he wants in and out all day.
Everyone take care and enjoy your day.

Good Morning to All - I'm sitting here listening to "The House of the Rising Sun" talk about aging myself - for some reason I always liked that song - by the Animals wasn't it?
Today will be strange - Bill is off to an EVENT with the politician so I'll be home alone. Guess I'll get some cleaning done before it get too hot in here.
Been keeping busy flitting around the area.
Almost fainted when we got the propane bill from home $1300 for one month in an empty house. Our friend is just keeping the temps in the house to around 45F. And next week here in Mazatlan it is supposed to be 88. Way too hot.
Hope eveyone is finding a way to keep warm or heading south. Plenty of RV spaces here. Right now we have the neighboor from heck. He got here yesterday pulled into the spot RIGHT next to us - there are empty spaces all over - and in 10 minutes it looked like a trash truck exploded around his RV. They have two dogs, puppies, who like to play and growl at each other. We don't mind that but then one or the other of the people yell STOP THAT - BE QUIET - etc. continually. They haven't unhooked their car so hope they are leaving soon.
Such a price we have to pay to be in paradise......
Have delicious bakery goods from Malpica - help yourself and good Mexican coffee is hot.

Sarah, maybe someone will give you a ride instead of a quarter.
I ate 3 pieces of Halloween candy last night and woke up with a headache this morning. The candy was not worth the headache.
It got down to 29 last night and it's just 32 now. It's not suppose to freeze again for the next week. I need to go to Sam's but don't know if I'm that ambitious today. We are almost out of milk and bread so will have to go somewhere. Better to go today than fight the traffic on Saturday.
It doesn't take the house cats long to want back in if they go out. We were laughing at one of the white boys this morning. He wanted out but made a u-turn on the porch and came back in. I keep telling them they need a revolving door.

Good morning Everybody from sunny but freezing cold CT.
Sarah, I love Sandhill cranes. What a treat to have them so close to you. Yes, do keep walking. Finally, I'm convinced that exercise is necessary to stay healthy, even though I don't enjoy it. Peggy

It is -6 with a -30 below windchill this morning. Supposed to get up to 13 above later on. Woohoo!
Heading down to the Mpls RV Show in awhile. Should be fun looking at all the new stuff! And dreaming...
Martha, we used to have a cat who would demand to go outside in the winter but as soon as we opened the door and he saw the snow, he would shake his paws before he even stepped outside!
Have a good day and stay warm!

When Nicky and I made our walk to the dumpster around 9:30, Nan drove up to leave her garbage before pulling out today. She has not been feeling well past couple of days but looked much better this morning. Her allergies have been acting up and she is overdue for her shots. Anyway she is starting back toward Gainsville and doctor appointments.
Still heavy overcast and damp, chilly feeling outside. Really hoping for some sunshine today and that could still happen, I think..
It is 28 at home so easy to be thankful for even chilly weather here in FL.
Martha, that would be a good suggestion but the area where I'm parked has no thru traffic. Flagging somebody down might be a bit more difficult.

Good Morning everyone... we had rain all night and above the cab is dry!!! so happy for that.
My coffee cup is dry maybe another cup is in order. Normally I only drink one at home well here now,
unless I go out to eat.
I made mac and cheese and shared it with Molly yesterday... comfort food...
Pastor Jerry was moved into progressive care yesterday but he is still in isolation.
Kim checked with TriAm and it sounds like I need a new converter... that sounds expensive. he has a charger
on the battery turned way down so it acts like a trickle charger...
Mitch will be home today with any luck... long great trip for the BaJa gals...
Nan hope you get to feeling better, Sarah the sun will come out soon just for you!!! well me too...
Have a great day everyone

I love the cranes - saw and heard them when near Orlando! However, when I visited in Wisconsin a couple years ago, I learned they are not fond of them as they love the corn fields!

Hi All, Yes the cranes are so unique. We have had 15-20 mile an hour winds here at the slabs but it was 70 above (lol)yesterday I hope today is the last of the winds. One of the hardest things is try to remember what day it is oh well being retired most of the time it doesn't matter. So glad to be back to the forum. Have a good one.

Not quite noon so guess I'm still good for morning coffee. Donna, good to see you posting! Didn't know you were back at the slabs, would have sent Tina there yesterday, but I bribed her to stay another day with a free lobster dinner at my fave casino. She pulled out a few hours ago on her way to the AZ GTG. Sure am gonna miss her, we had a great time! Still have 2 cars in my back half acre, so there will be another small gtg here when they're claimed. The person with the keys dictates how long the owners stay.
Peggy, you're so right about the exercise! I love walking or hiking when I have another person around, not so good about keeping up with it when it's just me and the Chewmonster.
Need to get back to preparations for the up-coming cruise. Toes are done and need to finish fingers. A couple of friends came over yesterday and took parts off Hope and the door that I tore off, plus the slide topper that was torn and will return with repaired door and topper and re-install. So nice to know people and not have to hand over a huge chunk of change to the rv repair place like I usually do.
Stay warm and those traveling, be safe!

Sarah you know you have a talent for flagging down cars.
Enjoyed meeting Missmermaid and visiting with everyone. Of course things were exciting here, made my reservations on the computer it dropped everything. So had to wait for them to find a place to put me.
